Chapter 347 Brother Lei also sent gifts back.

Therefore, Ji Wanmei also had her own things to do.

However, she had just returned home and wanted to rest for a few more days. She would start working properly after A-Qiang and Zhu Shuangyan's housewarming party.

With nothing to do for a few days, Ji Wanmei tidied up the flowers and plants in the yard.

Take out the clothes from the closet that you can still wear, wash them, and dress more casually and comfortably at home this summer vacation.

She brought back several new foreign films and a few jazz tapes from the record store.

While Ji Wanmei was hanging clothes to dry in the yard, she put the cassette tape on and placed the player on the windowsill under the eaves, so that melodious music could be heard in every corner of the yard.

The next day arrived in the blink of an eye. A-Qiang had informed Ji Wanmei in advance that he was moving to a new house and would be hosting a banquet for relatives and friends, inviting Ji Wanmei to join him.

Ji Wanmei asked her father if they wanted to have lunch together, but Ji Xingguo said that they were her friends and that the young people should have fun on their own, and he wouldn't spoil their fun.

Ji Wanmei thought to herself, "Why are you acting so open-minded now?"

Ji Wanmei had prepared the gifts a day in advance. She went to a state-run department store and bought a set of exquisite blue and white porcelain Chinese-style tableware and a set of four-piece silk bedding as housewarming gifts.

Around 10 a.m., when Ji Wanmei arrived at A-Qiang's house, she saw that many people had already gathered outside the yard of his new home.

Ji Wanmei was slightly surprised; she had never heard that A-Qiang had so many relatives before.

Ah Qiang was greeting guests at the door when he saw Ji Wanmei coming over. He greeted her warmly, "Sister-in-law, uh, Miss Ji, you've arrived! I told you not to bring gifts, but you brought so many. Just being here is enough! Please come in and have a seat!"

"Quite a few relatives have come today." Ji Wanmei smiled as she handed the things to Aqiang. Her gaze then shifted to Zhu Shuangyan, who was sitting under the eaves of the new house, serving tea to Aqiang's relatives. She wondered what the aunts and uncles were talking about, their laughter deafening, making Zhu Shuangyan blush.

Ah Qiang also looked sentimental, saying, "When you're poor, no one cares even in the bustling city; when you're rich, even distant relatives come calling. Before I made money, all those relatives were eager to sever ties with me. Now that my new house is finished, they're all willing to contact me."

Ji Wanmei smiled and said, "Isn't this good too? At least when you and Shuangyan get married, you'll have so many relatives coming to give you their blessings."

“Yes, that’s what I think too.” A-Qiang turned his head and saw that Zhu Shuangyan was speechless because of the teasing from his aunts. He said to Ji Wanmei, “Sister-in-law, why don’t you go and help Shuangyan? Those aunts in our family have sharp tongues. They make all sorts of jokes. Shuangyan is shy and can’t argue with them.”

Ji Wanmei said, "Okay, I'll go and support you today."

"Oh, right, sister-in-law. I moved to my new home today, and Brother Lei sent someone to bring me a gift, but he's been busy with the construction project and couldn't come back. He called me earlier to ask about you, and I told him everything..."

Ji Wanmei smiled and said, "Okay, I understand. You did a great job. Next time he calls to ask you about me, just tell him the truth."
