That night, Ji Wanmei and Lei Tingjun lay in bed together.
He then took a prenatal education book and began to read it softly to Ji Wanmei's belly.
Spring has arrived, and the little grasses are secretly peeking out from the soil. The tender buds of the willows by the lake are quietly sprouting from their branches; green willows, green grass—a world quietly turning green is presented before our eyes. In the yard, the flower buds that have been taut all winter have finally blossomed into bright red smiles…
"Oh!" Ji Wanmei suddenly exclaimed, turning her head to look at Lei Tingjun with bright eyes: "My daughter suddenly kicked me!"
"Really?!" Lei Tingjun was pleasantly surprised and quickly placed his palm on Ji Wanmei's belly. After feeling for a while, the baby stopped moving.
Ji Wanmei smiled and said, "Why don't you read a few more lines to her? I think she really enjoys listening to it."
Lei Tingjun leaned close to Ji Wanmei's belly, gently stroking it as he softly recited: "Spring arrives gracefully with light steps. After the spring rain, the air is filled with the fragrance of earth and wildflowers. Close your eyes and take a gentle sniff, and it's like drinking sweet honey."
Ji Wanmei's belly moved twice more at this moment, as if the baby inside was making a happy reaction.
Lei Tingjun's large hand rested on her round belly, and he felt the baby kicking inside. He laughed excitedly, "Meimei, my daughter is kicking me! She's really kicking me!"
He pressed his ear against Ji Wanmei's stomach, as if that way he could hear his daughter talking to him.
Ji Wanmei raised her hand to stroke his coarse hair, her eyes overflowing with tenderness: "Baby must really enjoy Daddy reciting poems to you, right?"
Sure enough, the baby in her belly moved again, as if responding to her.
This greatly encouraged Lei Tingjun. For the next few months, whenever he had nothing to do at night, he would hold Ji Wanmei and do prenatal education on her belly.
He would read any short poems, stories, essays, or soothing music that he liked to his daughter.
Warm and ordinary days passed slowly, and soon it was the ninth month. In another month, Ji Wanmei would give birth.
With their child on the way, she and Lei Tingjun were both nervous and excited.
The couple prepared everything a month in advance, just waiting for the baby to be born.
