Chapter Fifty
Ji Wanmei was startled when she heard Xiao Qiang's shout, and turned to look.
Then she saw a tall figure staring intently at her as he strode into the Sichuan restaurant.
Lei Tingjun was so tall that the layout of the restaurant seemed cramped as soon as he entered.
The people sitting at the same table as Ji Wanmei were taken aback when they saw this tall, aloof, and rugged young man suddenly walk towards them. They stared blankly as he walked straight over.
At the square table, Ji Wanmei and Luo Chunyan sat on one side. Neither of them was overweight, so sitting on a long bench didn't feel cramped.
The landlady was slightly plump and sat alone on one side; opposite her, Uncle Xu also sat alone on one side.
The only one left was Xiaoqiang, who was facing the door and sat alone on one side.
As Lei Tingjun walked in, he glanced at the square table and went straight to sit down next to Xiao Qiang, facing Ji Wanmei directly.
Ji Wanmei watched Lei Tingjun walk in, her brow twitched, and she couldn't help but ask, "Why are you here?"
Beside him, Xiaoqiang chuckled, looking pleased with himself.
Lei Tingjun's gaze swept over her slightly flushed cheeks, which were reddened by the sun, and he said, "Xiao Qiang said you were coming over at noon to sign the lease, so I came to take a look."
"I've already eaten in the cafeteria, you guys go ahead and eat," he said, glancing at the food on the table.
Luo Chunyan stared wide-eyed at Lei Tingjun, who was openly pestering Meimei, and glared at him unfriendly: "Lei Tingjun, in broad daylight, instead of working at the factory, you just run out like this. Aren't you afraid of having your wages docked?"
Lei Tingjun glanced at her and said nonchalantly, "I worked the night shift last night, so the daytime is my rest time."
After looking at both sides for a while without reacting, the landlady cautiously spoke up: "Xiao Ji, you and him... do you know each other?"
This young man looked like someone you didn't want to mess with, exuding a fierce, wolfish aura. The moment he sat down, Xiao Qiang, who had looked quite tall and muscular, suddenly appeared small and thin in comparison.
The landlady didn't dare to glance at Lei Tingjun; her whole body was stiff.
Uncle Xu across from them also frowned slightly. People of their age dislike young people with such a strong sense of social interaction the most.
They all like well-mannered, cultured, and polite young people.
The man in the black short-sleeved shirt had the eyes of a lone wolf hunting for prey, his bulging muscles and hormones suggesting he was ready to bite his prey at any moment.
"Meimei, is this your friend?"
Lei Tingjun had already sat down, so what could she say? Could she say she didn't know him?
So she could only force a smile and say, "Yes, it's a friend I know. He's the one who helped me find Xiao Qiang to look at the storefront."
Upon hearing this, Uncle Xu adjusted his glasses and looked Lei Tingjun up and down. He saw that the man had sharp, sword-like eyebrows, deep black eyes, a straight and sharp nose, and even his lips were angular.
This person has a very full forehead and full earlobes.
From a physiognomy perspective, this person has the appearance of someone destined for wealth and nobility. However, his arrogant and unruly aura is too strong, and his features are too sharp, making him the kind of person who is difficult to tame and discipline.
These kinds of people usually lead to extreme fates.
Either they will soar to great heights, for the shallows cannot hold back the golden dragon, and they will rise above others sooner or later; or they will be destined for bloodshed and a great calamity, falling to the dust.
In his spare time, Lao Xu also likes to study face reading and the Five Elements theory on his own.
Although he only knew the basics, Lei Tingjun's appearance was so representative that even a layman like him could see something about it.
"Since we're friends, not outsiders, and you're already here, let's eat together." Old Xu was the oldest among them and a friend of Ji Wanmei's father, so he said he didn't mind, and the others didn't say anything.
The landlady slightly turned her body to the side, looking as if she really didn't want to get involved with this person.
Luo Chunyan also pursed her lips and remained silent.
Xiao Qiang was bustling about, fetching bowls and chopsticks and pouring tea. He said, "Brother Lei, this meal was treated to us by Miss Ji to express her gratitude. I thought to myself, I didn't do anything, Brother Lei took care of everything. So I quickly sent someone to call Brother Lei over. Let's sit down and eat together!"
Lei Tingjun remained motionless, his eyes fixed solely on Ji Wanmei.
It was as if he wouldn't even touch his chopsticks unless she spoke.
Ji Wanmei pursed her lips and said softly, "Sit down and eat with us. I ordered quite a lot of dishes, and there aren't enough for the few of us to finish."
Luo Chunyan glanced at Ji Wanmei silently and noticed that her best friend was unusually tolerant of Lei Tingjun, even tolerating his rude behavior.
With Ji Wanmei's permission, Lei Tingjun's thin lips, which had been taut, parted slightly, and a faint smile appeared in his dark eyes.
Xiao Qiang quickly poured him a glass of cold tea: "Brother Lei, you must be hot from walking around, come and have some water."
Lei Tingjun picked up his teacup, tilted his head back, and gulped down the whole bowl of tea in two gulps.
His prominent Adam's apple bobbed up and down, exuding a strong aura of male hormones.
Everyone at the table who witnessed this scene dared not look him in the eye.
At that time, people's minds had not yet been Westernized, and they were still relatively traditional and conservative. When they saw something inappropriate, they would just frown and say it was immoral, and they didn't know what 'sexy' meant.
Actually, it's not just women; men also have their own kind of 'sexiness'.
At this moment, Lei Tingjun sat opposite him, wearing a black short-sleeved shirt, his neck slightly sweaty, his buzz cut stiff and thick, his features deep and sharp, and his Adam's apple bobbing as he tilted his head back to drink tea, exuding an indescribable masculine sexiness.
Ji Wanmei glanced at him silently, then quickly looked away.
She picked up her chopsticks and took a bite of Mapo Tofu from the plate, but she didn't expect the Sichuan dish to be so spicy. She accidentally choked on the spiciness and coughed incessantly with her head down.
Lei Tingjun quickly poured a glass of water and handed it to him: "Drink some water quickly."
Ji Wanmei was so spicy that tears welled up in her eyes. She took the water Lei Tingjun handed her and drank a couple of mouthfuls.
The pungent spiciness was only masked after the herbal tea soothed my throat.
Luo Chunyan, however, stared wide-eyed.
That teacup...
It was clearly the same drink that Lei Tingjun had just consumed.
Seeing that Ji Wanmei was coughing from the choking, he didn't even have time to react before he poured water for her from the teacup in front of him.
After Ji Wanmei finished drinking, she suddenly realized what was happening. She paused for a moment and saw that Uncle Xu and the landlady at the table were eating heartily and hadn't noticed them.
She looked up, gave Lei Tingjun a slightly reproachful look, and handed the teacup back.
When Lei Tingjun met her gentle gaze, he felt the heat that had just subsided rise up inexplicably again.
