Chapter 344
Ji Wanmei stood at a distance and watched, not walking over immediately.
She saw that Luo Chunyan had set up a flower cart at the entrance of the store to deal with some unsold and slow-moving stock, as well as some slightly defective products.
This way, they can offer some affordable options to customers who like the products in their store but can't afford the high prices.
The three women standing at the store entrance were selecting discounted items. Because they were discounted, the prices were much cheaper than the regular prices. Ji Wanmei noticed that each of them had picked out several items.
Luo Chunyan's method is quite good. It can not only consolidate the business in the long term, but also get rid of some of the slow-selling and unsold items in the store.
Ji Wanmei watched from afar for a while before walking forward.
"Chunyan!" she called out into the room.
Luo Chunyan was inside helping customers buy things when she heard someone call her name. Not paying attention to the voice, she assumed it was a customer outside asking her to come out to pay, so she called out, "Hey, coming, coming! Wait a minute, I'm coming!"
Ji Wanmei smiled and, seeing that she was busy, said to the women picking out discounted items from the carts at the entrance, "Sisters, I think this is quite suitable for you, why don't you take a look?"
"There's also this floral water. It smells nice and repels mosquitoes, especially now that summer is here and there are so many mosquitoes at night. Spraying a little of this keeps them away. It's even better than perfume."
Several older women were intrigued: "Really? This floral water, is it really that magical?"
Ji Wanmei dutifully acted as a sales assistant, promoting the products in her store: "Of course, wherever I go in the summer, I always carry a bottle of floral water in my bag. If you don't believe me, smell it, isn't it fragrant, it's minty?"
Several older women came over, took a sniff, and found the scent to be indeed very refreshing.
"How much is this floral water per bottle?" the women asked.
Ji Wanmei glanced at the promotional price tag in front of the cart and said, "Look, it says here, one yuan a bottle. If you buy three bottles at once, it's only two yuan."
"Since there are three of you, why don't you pool your money, buy three bottles, and then share them?"
"That's a good idea!" The older women love to get a bargain, and when they heard that buying three bottles would save them a whole dollar, they were very happy to take out their money and buy them.
The three older women left with smiles on their faces.
When Luo Chunyan finished her business at the store and came out to pay the bill, she saw Ji Wanmei arrive.
Not only that, she completed a transaction in just two minutes at the door.
Luo Chunyan was overjoyed and exclaimed with a beaming smile, "Oh, Meimei! When did you get back?!"
"I just arrived today and came to see you. I saw you were busy earlier, but you're really starting to look like a boss," Ji Wanmei said with a smile.
"Oh, don't make fun of me. I learned this from you." Luo Chunyan quickly packed the customer's items into a bag, took the money, and then greeted the customer, "Please take care, come back and browse again next time you have new products."
Seeing how well Luo Chunyan was managing the store and how increasingly adept she was at it, Ji Wanmei felt very gratified.
She felt that she had made the right decision back then.
"Sit down and rest for a while. Would you like some soda? I'll go buy some," Luo Chunyan said, wiping her hands and getting up.
Ji Wanmei cupped her cheeks in her hands, looked at Luo Chunyan, thought for a moment, and said, "I want to eat an old-fashioned popsicle."
"Okay, I'll grant your wish! I'm going to buy some popsicles." Luo Chunyan took out two small bills from her handbag under the cash register and went out to buy popsicles.
A few minutes later, Luo Chunyan returned with popsicles.
She handed one to Ji Wanmei and ate one herself.
The two sat close together behind the cashier, eating refreshing popsicles.
Luo Chunyan said, "You know what, I haven't had a popsicle from our county in ages. This is the first one I've ever had this summer, and it was with you."
"Yes, same. I haven't had this in a long time either." Ji Wanmei took small sips, smacked her lips, and savored the taste. "It's still the same old taste I remember."
Luo Chunyan suddenly turned her head, stared at Ji Wanmei for a while, and said, "Meimei, have you been unhappy about something lately?"
Ji Wanmei was taken aback. Was the expression on her face that obvious?
Seeing that she didn't speak, Luo Chunyan said, "We've been friends for twenty years. Don't I know you? When you're troubled, your tone of voice is three degrees lower than usual, and your smile isn't genuine. Others might not be able to tell, but I can tell at a glance."
Ji Wanmei smiled bitterly.
As expected of a childhood friend, he really understands her and could tell at a glance that she had something on her mind.
During the several-hour drive from Huadong back to Pingquan, Zhu Shuangyan and Aqiang were still quietly discussing whether she was truly heartless and didn't take her relationship with Lei Tingjun to heart.
Although Ji Wanmei didn't say it and her expression didn't reveal anything, only those who truly understood and were familiar with her would know that the smile in her eyes wasn't from the heart.
Since Luo Chunyan had already figured it out, Ji Wanmei saw no need to hide it: "Some things have happened recently, and my dad and I had a fight."
Luo Chunyan pondered for a moment, then tentatively asked, "Could it be because of what happened between you and Lei Tingjun?"
“That’s right.” Ji Wanmei nodded helplessly.
Luo Chunyan also sighed, "Actually, when Lei Tingjun was pursuing you, I always advised you to stay away from him. I felt that your father probably wouldn't accept someone like Lei Tingjun. If you wanted to be with him, it definitely wouldn't be easy. And I was right."
