Chapter 124 The Power of Food 2

The incident happened a couple of days ago, shortly after Erdan arrived in Xiaomo Village. This once introverted little boy has gradually become more cheerful, made many new friends, and his life is filled with laughter.

It's currently summer vacation for elementary school students, and the entire village is filled with children playing freely and joyfully. Because Mo Shuisheng and others work here, many of the villagers' children often play nearby, gradually developing a deep friendship with Erdan.

One day, when Erdan came to eat in high spirits, a group of friends followed closely behind him. Just as they were about to say goodbye reluctantly, one of the children was suddenly stopped by his father.

The father seemed a little reserved and cautiously asked Mo Yuan, "Could I eat a little less and share some of the food with the children?"

His gaze was full of affection, as if expressing the helplessness of a father. Mo Yuan was slightly taken aback upon hearing this, but quickly understood the other man's feelings. After all, these children were the apple of his eye, and seeing their longing for food, the father's heart softened.

So he mustered up his courage and made the request, promising to reduce his own food intake in the future to ensure that everyone could enjoy the delicious food.

Although he knew that such a request might violate the rules, he simply couldn't remain unmoved by the children's drooling expressions.

According to rural customs, helping someone with chores usually only earns you one meal a day. Mo Yuan, however, promised two meals a day, breakfast and lunch, with vegetables, meat, rice, and steamed buns as much as you wanted at lunchtime—a generous offer unimaginable in most places. Naturally, whoever did the work ate the food; no one brought their children. After all, everyone was struggling financially at that time, and if everyone came to eat, no one could afford it.

The father's cautious request stemmed from the fact that the meal was exceptionally lavish. His children, at this crucial stage of their growth spurt, were all thin and dark-skinned, a truly heartbreaking sight. They probably wouldn't have considered sharing ordinary food with their children. Seeing someone ask, the others eagerly awaited Mo Yuan's answer. Needless to say, the other children were theirs.

Mo Yuan struggled internally for a long time, unable to refuse, yet afraid of breaking the rules and that everyone would not appreciate it.

He knew very well that if he set this precedent, it would be difficult to maintain the current order in the future. These people were all people he had invited to help, and although he knew they were struggling financially, if everyone brought their children to freeload, his burden would be even greater. Furthermore, this would affect the enthusiasm of others, potentially leading to feelings of unfairness and even conflict.

However, looking into the expectant eyes of the father before him, Mo Yuan couldn't bear to refuse. He knew these children were at a crucial stage of growth and development and needed sufficient nutrition. Moreover, their family's situation was indeed quite difficult; providing their children with a full meal was a luxury for them.

After some thought, Mo Yuan decided to temporarily break the rules he had set for himself. He smiled and said to the father, "Alright, since everyone has said so, let's call all the children over."

Upon hearing Mo Yuan's words, the father beamed with joy and thanked him repeatedly.

They also said they would no longer serve food from the pot, only eat what was in their own bowls, and let the children have a few bites. As they spoke, they excitedly used chopsticks to pick up meat and put it into the children's mouths. Seeing the children's satisfied eyes, the parents felt very satisfied after a month!

The other parents also expressed their gratitude, saying they would work hard and not let Mo Yuan down. Seeing everyone's reactions, Mo Yuan secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

He hopes this concession will be understood and supported by everyone, and also hopes to use this method to get closer to everyone and build better relationships. Of course, he also understands that this approach cannot continue indefinitely, otherwise he will face even greater pressure.

But at this moment, all he wanted was to meet the needs of these children and bring them some warmth and care.

However, without rules, nothing can be accomplished. Without clear regulations, it is inevitable that it will cause dissatisfaction or controversy among others.

To avoid this situation, Mo Yuan decided to establish some rules. He explained to everyone, "From now on, we won't be preparing any proper stir-fries for breakfast, so please don't bring your children to eat." He then added, "However, at lunchtime, everyone will receive a large bowl of hearty food, and you can bring one child from your family to have lunch together. If there are multiple children in a family, they can take turns coming."

Although the rules were relatively lenient, everyone was still grateful for Mo Yuan's generosity. They all expressed their willingness to abide by the rules and promised not to disrupt order.

Furthermore, they stated that whenever Mo Yuan needed any help or had work to do, they would come to assist him immediately upon giving the order. Thus, the following scene unfolded: every noon, not only did the adults sit together, but a group of adorable children also shared the meal.

After the children had eaten their fill, they would respectfully bow to Mo Yuan to express their gratitude. Then, the children would happily play with Erdan, while the adults who remained would continue their pleasant conversation.

Everyone praised Mo Yuan highly, commending his benevolent act. Mo Yuan smiled and accepted the praise, then chatted casually with Mo Shuisheng for a few moments. Afterward, he began to discuss serious matters and expressed his thoughts.

He mentioned that once the current work is completed, he plans to have Mo Shuisheng continue to lead a team to help his family build a new house.

Hearing that there was still work to do after this was finished, Mo Shuisheng was naturally overjoyed. He patted his chest and guaranteed that he would definitely do the work beautifully. He told Mo Yuan that he could tell him any requests he had during this time so that he could make plans in advance!

This is precisely why Mo Yuan came to find him; after all, it's not an adobe house, so he needs to make some careful plans!
