Chapter 189, /.

The Black man probably realized he might have made a mistake, scratched his head, and took two steps back.

Liu Zi asked him in a low voice how he was getting back to Beijing. The man in black awkwardly replied that his hometown was in this area, and his boss had asked him to come back and visit relatives.

Liu Zi nodded. This is good.

The man in black thought for a moment, then took out a business card from his pocket, which had his contact information on it.

He told Liu Zi not to act alone and to call him if anything happened.

Liu Zi nodded.

After the other party realized that Liu Zi understood, they left.

As I passed those soldiers, I instinctively stopped, stood at attention, and then left.

Liu Zi, pushing her luggage, quickened her pace and said, "You must be Uncle Wang!"

There is a group photo of her father and several comrades-in-arms at home, which Liu Zi had seen before.

"Oh my, our little Liu Zi has grown so much! When she left, she wasn't even as tall as my thigh. Girls really do change a lot as they grow up. I almost didn't recognize her." Wang Haiwen said with a smile as he looked Liu Zi up and down.

"If Daqiangzi hadn't sent me your photo, I wouldn't have recognized you."

"Did my dad send you my photos?" Liu Zi asked in surprise, wondering why she hadn't heard him mention it.

"He said he was afraid I'd pick up the wrong person and leave his daughter alone again."

Several soldiers nearby had already taken the luggage from Liu Zi's hands, and the group walked out chatting as they went.

After giving a brief introduction, Wang Haiwen brought up the man in black from earlier.

Liu Zi introduced the other person and told Wang Haiwen about what had happened to her in Hong Kong.

"These little bastards are really lawless." Wang Haiwen was very angry.

"Zizi, don't worry. Now that we're on your Uncle Wang's turf, let's see who dares to cause you trouble." Wang Haiwen had been a soldier his whole life, and he naturally exuded an aura of authority.

"My dad took that into consideration, which is why he felt comfortable letting me come alone," Liu Zi complimented.

"I'll call Daqiangzi later and tell him not to worry. We old comrades haven't seen each other for several years. The last time we got together was when I went to Beijing for a meeting," Wang Haiwen said with some emotion.

There will be other opportunities in the future.

Liu Zi didn't say much. Before leaving, Liu Daqiang repeatedly told her not to let him know, or he would scare those old guys to death.

Her mother also said that her mother is becoming more and more unserious as she gets older.

Liu Zi felt that her comrades-in-arms had their own unique way of getting along, so she decided to pretend she didn't know.

"Zizi, let's go back to the guesthouse and rest for a bit. The commander said he wants to see you before you go to the special forces," Wang Haiwen said.

"Your matter was specially approved by the commander. He said he wanted to meet this girl who stood up to the Beijing Military Region," Wang Haiwen added, repeating what the commander had said to her before.

Liu Zi was deeply moved. She finally felt like she was back home. After all, her own people were reliable!

"I'm ready anytime, Uncle Wang, whatever you say." Liu Zi pondered what gifts she had brought from Beijing that she could give away separately.

"Okay, I'll report to the commander this afternoon and see when they'll have time."

Wang Haiwen sighed that Daqiangzi really knew how to raise a daughter; not only was she beautiful, but she was also obedient, well-behaved, and capable.

Thinking of my unreliable son gives me a headache.

Liu Zi had a lot of things, but luckily they brought two cars.

"I'm sorry, Uncle Wang, I brought a lot of things," Liu Zi said apologetically.

Besides her personal belongings and the gifts Liu Daqiang entrusted her to deliver, she also brought a small to medium-sized electronic keyboard, which was kept in a large keyboard bag.

"Is that a violin you brought?" Wang Haiwen patted the violin case on top, which Liu Zi had specifically asked to be placed on top.

"Yes, an electronic keyboard. Sometimes I need to compose melodies, and I'm afraid I won't be able to find an instrument, especially since I've been away for quite a while this time," Liu Zi explained.

"Your instrument is like a gun in a soldier's hand; it's only right that you carry it with you." Wang Haiwen was very eloquent, and he dispelled Liu Zi's concerns in just a few words.

"Then thank you for your understanding, Uncle Wang."

Wang Haiwen stayed with Liu Zi until she settled down at the guesthouse.

Remembering what Liu Zi had told him at the airport, Wang Haiwen gave her instructions with some unease.

"If you've rested enough and want to come out, just tell the front desk and I'll arrange for someone to accompany you. Don't go out alone." Wang Haiwen holds a high position in the military region, so he has the authority to do this.

"Wouldn't this be too much trouble?" Liu Zi asked, a little embarrassed.

"Safety first!" Wang Haiwen insisted.

"Okay, I'll do as you say."

Liu Zi nodded obediently and then gave all the things Liu Daqiang had brought to him in one go.

"Uncle Wang, I'll have to trouble you with this."

"My dad wrote his name on the outside of the box. It's too much trouble for me to go out, so I'll have to entrust it to you," Liu Zi said apologetically.

Only then did Wang Haiwen realize that the largest suitcase among all the luggage was actually brought by Liu Daqiang for them, his old comrades-in-arms.

"This Qiangzi, you're a girl, doesn't he worry about exhausting you?" Wang Haiwen said with a smile, playfully scolding him.

"These are all specialties from Beijing. Knowing that my uncles like aged liquor, my dad specially asked someone from the distillery to get some 20-year-old Niu Er (a type of Chinese liquor). He tore off all the originally pretty outer packaging before he could fit twenty bottles in. I was so worried the whole way here, afraid the bottles would break." Liu Zi had already unsealed the box and opened it for Wang Haiwen to see.

The outer ring is made of Beijing-style eight delicacies, such as plastic-sealed braised meat, while the innermost ring is made of beef brisket wrapped in a blanket.

"That Qiangzi, his salary isn't even enough for him to keep up with his spending. Doesn't he worry about his wife disliking him?" Wang Haiwen was somewhat moved; these things were clearly prepared with care.

"My mom is even crazier than my dad. Apart from the alcohol, she prepared everything else. If I hadn't really run out of things to take, she would have let me take some more." Liu Zi's head started to ache when she thought about the extra baggage fees she had to pay for her overweight luggage.

"This is the list they wrote. The rest will be in Uncle Wang's hands." Liu Zi immediately assigned the tasks, giving herself time to enjoy her meal.

"You lazy girl, you've dumped all the chores your parents gave you on me. No way, you take a nap this afternoon, and I'll get a car after I get off work this evening. You can come with me for a drive, and we'll be done in no time." Wang Haiwen understood what Liu Zi meant and chuckled as he directly refused.

"Uncle Wang, I want to eat mutton soup!" Liu Zi pleaded pitifully.

"Haha, you little rascal!" Wang Haiwen never expected it would be because of food!

"Eating mutton soup is easy! Let's go eat dinner first, and then go to the restaurant." Wang Haiwen made the arrangements very clear.

"Alright then!" Liu Zi lowered her head dejectedly.

Her steamed rice cake, roujiamo (Chinese hamburger), stone-baked flatbread, and oil-splashed noodles...

I can only go again when I have time later.
