"What are you doing?" Li Mu frowned, raised his head, and shook his somewhat heavy head.
"Ugh~ You're so heavy, you're crushing me! Get up!" Liu Zi really couldn't move at all.
Li Mu had a splitting headache; he hadn't expected the mixed drinks at this bar to be so potent.
He forced himself to sit up despite the discomfort, and when he looked down, he was surprised to find himself lying on top of Liu Zi.
What are you doing here?
Liu Zi gave him a disdainful shove, then sat up.
"Your two bodyguards went to chase the thief. He told us to sit in the car for safety," Liu Zi explained, tugging at her slightly wrinkled clothes.
"Should we call the police? They've been inside for a while now. Could they be in danger?" Liu Zi quickly reminded her.
Li Mu frowned even more. If two retired detectives couldn't beat a thug, they might as well go home and grow sweet potatoes!
"No need, I'll call them and ask about the situation."
Li Mu was a little embarrassed. He didn't expect that the two guys would take advantage of his drunkenness and hand him over to a woman. It seemed that the two of them had been lacking in training lately.
After taking a nap, Li Muji sobered up considerably. He rubbed his temples and took his phone out of his pocket.
His slender fingers tapped the phone screen rapidly, and the call was made immediately.
Xu Da and Xu Er were still arguing about why their boss was so fast.
Suddenly, Xu Da's phone beeped.
"The boss is calling!" Xu Da exclaimed in surprise.
"what to do?"
"Catch it!" Xu Er kicked his brother.
"What should I say?" Xu Da's hands trembled, and his heart quivered.
"Isn't this guy here? We can just tell the boss what we just found out, and he won't suspect anything." Xu Er was also scared, but he knew the boss was too busy to deal with them right now, and what if he forgot about it later!
Under Xu Er's self-deceptive encouragement, Xu Da finally answered the phone.
"Where are you two now?" The man's voice was slightly hoarse.
"Xu Er and I are leading that thief back! We felt something was off just now, so we interrogated him for a bit, and he finally couldn't take it anymore and confessed that he was ordered to rob Miss Liu's bag." Xu Da quickly explained the situation to his boss.
However, there was some exaggeration involved. Xu Er didn't have to exert any effort at all; with just two kicks, the other party blurted it out like spitting out beans.
"Hurry up!" Li Mu said, then hung up the phone.
Upon hearing the beeping sound, Xu Da immediately jumped up.
"Hurry! The boss is calling." Xu Ershou hurriedly grabbed the thief and headed deeper into the alley.
"Come back, we went the wrong way!" Xu Da was dumbfounded. Had this guy been scared out of his wits?
"Hurry up and follow us. Let's go inside and take a look, or the boss will see through our lies immediately." The boss has a keen eye; he's famously sharp-eyed. He can tell at a glance whether they were walking or standing still.
Among the Xu brothers, the second brother is much more cunning than the eldest.
“Yes, yes, I agree with you. If you’re going to put on an act, you should go all the way.” Xu Da nodded and immediately followed suit.
"Smack!"
"You little brat, watch your step and don't say anything out of line." Xu Er gave the thief a slap on the shoulder, still worried.
"Waaah"
The thief kept nodding. He could talk, but could you please stop hitting him with your fan-like hand? It hurts too much.
After hanging up the phone, Li Mu looked at Liu Zi, who was standing a few feet away from him, and pressed his temples before speaking.
"They're fine. They're coming back with their men and will be here soon."
"Hmm!" Liu Zi breathed a sigh of relief. It's good that nothing happened.
"Did you offend someone in Hong Kong?" The man's voice lowered.
Liu Zi was somewhat taken aback. Why did he ask that?
"What happened?"
"They just interrogated him, and he said he was acting under orders to teach you a lesson."
As soon as Li Mu finished speaking, Liu Zi immediately thought of Assistant Wang.
Is this person crazy?
The matter is over, and she hasn't held onto it. Why is this man acting like this?
Liu Zi's breathing immediately became heavy.
With limited space in the car, Li Mu noticed the change in Liu Zi's emotions; it seemed she already had her answer.
"You came to Hong Kong by yourself?" Li Mu asked again.
"Hmm!" Liu Zi kept mentally marking Assistant Wang with an X.
"You've got some nerve, aren't you afraid you won't come back?"
Li Mu is not usually a talkative person, and he is even more indifferent and aloof towards women.
Liu Zi instinctively flinched. What if the other person had tried to steal more than just her bag?
What if there's more than one person on the other end?
Are the self-defense techniques she claims to have mastered actually effective enough to protect herself?
The three questions in a row terrified Liu Zi.
She didn't want to die; her parents and daughter were all counting on her!
All she wants now is to leave Hong Kong and go home!
Li Mu frowned. He had only intended to scare the woman and make her realize the seriousness of the matter.
But seeing her so disoriented, I felt uneasy.
"I'm leaving Hong Kong tomorrow, do you want to come with me?" Li Mu attributed these emotions to his inability to bear seeing someone he knew in distress.
"Yes!" Liu Zi immediately responded. What did these things matter when her life was at stake?
"Get out of the car! They're out!" After saying that, Li Mu took the lead, pushed open the car door, and stepped out.
Liu Zi also came out and immediately noticed the small backpack in Xu Da's hand.
"Miss Liu, this is yours. Please check if anything is missing." Xu Da noticed her gaze and handed her the items in his hand.
Liu Zi took it and opened it to take a look: "Everything is here."
