Chapter 189, /.

"Uncle, it's my fault for not making proper arrangements, which has disappointed you and Miss Liu." Assistant Wang apologized first upon seeing the visitor.

Liu Zi raised an eyebrow. Oh ho, this is telling her that she is a member of the royal family, trying to intimidate her!

Director Wang frowned and glanced at the other person, then turned to Liu Zi without speaking, saying, "What happened? Why did you call me here in such a hurry? I was hoping you could rest and relax for a couple of days!"

Liu Zi suddenly didn't want to talk anymore. If Director Wang was willing to turn a blind eye, why should she step forward?

"It's nothing, I just wanted to discuss something with you. Assistant Wang is quite busy, so I don't need him to arrange things here. Please find someone else!"

"That's no big deal. I'll have some of my company's handsome young men come over and pick one for you. Let them have whichever one they like." Director Wang waved his hand magnanimously.

"Then I'll thank you in advance," Liu Zi said indifferently.

"Director Wang, when can I start working?" Liu Zi just wants to go back now.

"Aren't you going to stay a couple more days?" Director Wang asked in surprise. He had seen many mainlanders come to Hong Kong and get so dazzled that they would lose all their energy if they didn't spend a few days there before starting work.

"There's nothing fun about it." Liu Zi yawned slightly. She had gotten up too early in the morning and was now sleepy.

"Alright, in that case, I'll have someone pick you up at 10 a.m. tomorrow and bring you to my studio. The script adaptation work will continue here." Director Wang made the arrangements.

"Okay, I'll be there on time." Liu Zi emphasized, hoping she wouldn't have to wait in vain again.

After Director Wang nodded in agreement, he told Liu Zi to go back to her room to rest.

As soon as Liu Zi entered the elevator, Director Wang's face immediately fell.

Assistant Wang stood nervously to one side.

"What exactly happened? How did you do your job? Didn't I tell you to treat Miss Liu well?" Director Wang shouted angrily.

"Uncle, I don't know where I went wrong. I followed your instructions to pick up Ms. Liu from the airport and arranged the best hotel for her..." Assistant Wang hurriedly explained, trying to downplay the issue.

"Alright, that's enough! Go prepare some gifts immediately and send them to Miss Liu first thing tomorrow morning to apologize. Also, quickly select suitable staff to pick up and drop off Liu Zi. If there are any more mistakes, you'll be sent to herd sheep in Australia!" Director Wang said coldly.

"Yes, I understand, Uncle." Assistant Wang nodded, his face pale.

Whether it was because Director Wang's warning had an effect, or because the other party disdained to cause her any more trouble, Liu Zi's work went quite smoothly for the next few days.

No one understands or has a more comprehensive understanding of what the script is trying to express than Liu Zi.

Whenever Liu Zi offered a new perspective, it inspired Director Wang to develop new ideas for set design and character portrayal.

Director Wang remarked that Liu Zi didn't seem like a novice writer, but rather like a seasoned screenwriter with a wealth of experience and skillful storytelling techniques.

Director Wang only had this feeling with a few close old friends.

In an instant, Director Wang's opinion of Liu Zi changed again; this woman's future was truly limitless!

Watching Liu Zi shine brightly in the studio every day, Assistant Wang clenched his fists even tighter.

Ever since Liu Zi started working at the studio, her uncle's attitude towards her has become increasingly worse, and recently, his eyes have been filled with hidden dissatisfaction.

This afternoon, he overheard his uncle talking to a friend in the office about Liu Zi, and the conversation ended with some personnel changes at the studio.

Assistant Wang dared not wait any longer. Director Wang usually takes about a year to shoot a movie, but this time he bought three movies directly, which would mean it would take three years to shoot.

If he doesn't take action soon, given how much Liu Zi dislikes him, he'll be kicked out by that woman sooner or later. Right now, he can only let her be kicked out first.

Near the end of the workday, someone in the studio suggested that since everyone had been too busy lately, they should go to Lan Kwai Fong for a drink to relax.

This was Liu Zi's first time attending their dinner party, and she felt awkward refusing, so she decided to go along.

She thought that with so many people together, safety would definitely be guaranteed.

However, things got out of control afterward. The staff who usually picked him up and dropped him off were originally employees of the studio.

How could they possibly leave out a group of people drinking together? Before long, Liu Zi realized that very few of the people present were sober. And so, they even considered going to a karaoke bar to continue their drinking spree!

Liu Zi glanced at the clock; it was almost eleven o'clock. After a long day, she wanted to go back and rest.

After saying goodbye to the organizer, she picked up her bag and left.

She didn't notice that a gaze had been watching her from a great distance behind her.

Liu Zi carried her bag, walked out of the store, carefully discerned the direction, and began to walk forward in the direction she remembered.

The nights in the port city are always so lively and bustling, with crowds and traffic thronging the brightly lit streets.

The glittering bars and KTVs lining both sides of the road, and the bustling food stalls and snack stands in the alleys, gave Liu Zi a taste of the unique charm and vitality of the port city.

Just as Liu Zi was completely absorbed in watching, a hand reached out from the darkness without warning, snatched her bag, and ran into a dark alley where no one could be seen.

Liu Zi was startled and immediately came to her senses. How could she have lost her vigilance!

This is Hong Kong in 1999!

The security situation is worrying, with robberies and thefts occurring frequently.

Just as Liu Zi was hesitating whether to chase after them, someone suddenly spoke up behind her.

"What? You still want to go after them? Believe me, tomorrow's newspapers will report that you were raped and murdered."

"Hmph!" Liu Zi couldn't help but snort.

"Remember, you owe me one!" The man's deep voice reached her ears, making Liu Zi tremble involuntarily.

"Xu Er, go and get the bag back."

"Yes!" The man in the black suit ran quickly into the alley.

Having just been robbed, Liu Zi really couldn't offer a good attitude.

What are you doing here?

"Then what are you doing here?" the man asked in a slow, deliberate tone.

"I'm here for work," Liu Zi explained, surprised to see him in Hong Kong.

"Working at a bar? Which one? Want me to come over and spend some money to help boost your sales?" The man seemed to be drunk, and his words were quite sarcastic.

Liu Zi's face turned red with anger; the image of the powerful figure in her mind shattered into dust in that instant.

"I don't talk to drunkards!" Liu Zi said, and then tried to leave.

But as soon as she moved, her wrist was grabbed.

"Where are you going? Don't you want the bag anymore?" The man's breath reeked of alcohol, spraying Liu Zi's face.

She then realized that the two of them were a little too close.

"Let go!" Liu Zi tried to shake him off, but she couldn't get rid of him no matter what she did.

Li Mu reached out his other hand and wrapped it around Liu Zi's waist, pulling her even closer.

"Be good, listen to me."

Li Mu's brows were furrowed tightly, and he looked very uncomfortable. However, when he looked down and smelled the fragrance on Liu Zi's body, he felt a little relieved.

Liu Zi froze at that moment. Did this man even know what she was doing?
