It's peak tourist season in Beidaihe right now, and every place is packed with people.
She dared not go to expensive hotels catering to foreigners, and she worried about hygiene issues with cheap guesthouses; in short, she was in a dilemma.
To her surprise, Teacher Yu Hai solved her problem.
Originally, she just wanted to tell Teacher Yu Hai that she was not in Beijing recently, and that he could just call her on his mobile phone if he needed anything.
Teacher Yu Hai was probably not too busy at the moment, so he chatted with her for a bit longer. When he heard that she hadn't booked a place to stay yet, he recommended the sanatorium affiliated with his workplace.
The military band also has a fairly large sanatorium in Beidaihe, but this year their band has a heavy workload, and all those who are able to work have been recalled, so there should be quite a few empty rooms in the sanatorium in Beidaihe.
When Yu Hai told Commander Li about it, Commander Li immediately agreed.
The only thing that disappointed her was that the staff from the studio and the media company had too many different backgrounds, and Commander Li politely declined them for security reasons.
Liu Zi didn't care. There were no restrictions from the studio and media company. She simply booked a relatively expensive tour based on the number of people who wanted to go, just to ensure that everyone had good food and accommodation.
Everyone was very happy about this. Actually, they were not too willing to live with Liu Zi. With the boss watching over them, they always felt that they couldn't have as much fun as they wanted.
Although the highway network is not as developed as it is in later years, it has the advantage of fewer cars, and Liu Zi's car is new, so she always drives at the maximum speed of 120 mph.
At first, Liu Daqiang and Xu Mei would tell her to drive slower, but later they found that she drove quite well, so they let her go.
In the end, it only took three and a half hours to reach Beidaihe.
After getting off the highway, Liu Zi was a bit lost because she didn't know the way!
In her previous life, she always had navigation when she came to Beidaihe, but this time there was nothing. She was in the middle of nowhere, which made Liu Zi panic.
This is where Liu Daqiang's skills came into play. He calmly pulled a map of the Beidaihe River from the truck bed and, relying on his excellent sense of direction, led them to the correct place at the foot of Lianshan Mountain.
Liu Zi handed over her ID card and certificate, and was led up to the third floor on one side. Li Tuan booked three rooms for them, all of which faced the sea.
After quickly tidying up, Lingzi and Qiqi urged them to hurry up and go out to see the sea.
It truly lives up to its reputation as a tourist destination praised both at home and abroad for nearly a century. The sea and sky blend seamlessly, and the scenery is breathtaking.
The two children screamed wildly the moment they saw the sea, and even Aunt Zhang was very excited.
Liu Zi, holding an umbrella, yawned wearily.
"Look around, there's not a single person on the beach using an umbrella like you." Liu Daqiang looked down on his daughter's affectation.
"Hmph, who cares about them? In the end, whoever gets sunburned will suffer. I just need to take care of myself." Liu Zi didn't want to come back from her trip looking two shades darker and be laughed at by everyone.
Most sunscreens sold in China these days are from domestic manufacturers, and Liu Zi had already asked someone to bring back two tubes.
Several people felt that applying it to their bodies was too oily and didn't like it, but Liu Zi insisted that her two daughters apply it.
Fortunately, children are easygoing; even if they're unhappy, it's only for a short while, and they forget about it as soon as they find something fun to do.
Although they came out for fun, Liu Zi went out far less often than the elderly and children, especially since they went on a group tour to the First Pass Under Heaven together.
Liu Daqiang said she wasted her time coming out to play, as she just stayed in her room.
But Liu Zi had a different opinion. Since she was in a good mood, she could do whatever made her comfortable. Why force herself to visit all the tourist attractions? She wasn't there to complete a task.
In order not to delay the tour group's itinerary, Liu Zi treated everyone to a seafood feast at Beidaihe on the night before the employees left.
Including my family, we ordered three large tables full of dishes: scallops with vermicelli, boiled prawns, stir-fried squid, steamed pomfret, stewed small mixed fish...
Finally, the restaurant gave each table a complimentary bowl of seafood porridge, which was absolutely delicious.
What caught Liu Zi's attention was that Wang Beiqiang had actually come with the group from the media company.
They came over to toast Liu Zi, and she even said a few more words to him, encouraging him to work hard, saying that the company might come to him with its own projects after the New Year.
Wang Beiqiang was both surprised and delighted. With the prompting of those around him, he bowed to Liu Zi to express his gratitude.
Liu Zi disliked this kind of company atmosphere, but she didn't say much, she just avoided it for a moment.
Tell him he doesn't need to do that anymore. The relationship between artists and media companies is a partnership. As long as he hone his acting skills, he's destined for this profession.
Liu Zi and her friends spent a few more days in Beidaihe. On the last day, Liu Daqiang, who was always very competitive, got sunburned.
The main problem was that he didn't care enough. At least his mother and Aunt Zhang noticed something was wrong and secretly started applying sunscreen, but Liu Daqiang was still stubbornly refusing to do it.
So, on his very first day back home, he collapsed.
Hearing Liu Daqiang humming in the room, Liu Zi couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Then Reiko, who came to open the door, scolded him.
"Mom, how could you make fun of Grandpa! That's too much!"
Upon hearing the commotion, Liu Daqiang immediately came to his eldest granddaughter's defense and joined in cursing Liu Zi.
Hearing her grandfather's accusations, Lingzi's face showed struggle again; she didn't want her mother to be talked about either.
"Grandpa, although Mom shouldn't have laughed at you, you got sunburned, which is your own fault. We all put on sunscreen, but you didn't. What can we do?" Lingzi spread her hands towards her grandpa.
Xu Mei couldn't help but burst out laughing. Her granddaughter was really clever; she even knew how to use the phrase "getting what you deserve."
Liu Daqiang's face flushed red and then turned purple, and he was so choked up that he couldn't speak.
After Liu Zi finished laughing, she took out the things she had prepared.
"Mom, this is aloe vera gel. Apply some to Dad's sunburned area; it will make him feel much better." Liu Zi made the aloe vera gel herself. She had brought a potted plant in the trunk in case of any accidents, but she didn't expect that the first person to use it would be her dad.
"If you're still hungry, Mom, you can use this on your face; it's good for your skin," Liu Zi reminded her before leaving.
"Oh, really? I'll have to try it." Xu Mei scooped out a small amount and applied it to her hands; it was indeed quite moisturizing.
Although Liu Daqiang could only sleep face down that night, he was at least much more comfortable and his sleep quality wasn't affected.
"Don't worry for nothing. Your dad's the type to fall asleep the moment he lies down. Even if the sky falls, it won't matter," Xu Mei complained. Yesterday, she was applying aloe vera gel to him when he fell asleep.
"That's good. It shows my dad is easygoing and doesn't take anything to heart," Liu Zi added, trying to make amends for her father.
"Hmph! You're so good at coaxing him." Xu Mei glanced at her daughter.
Liu Daqiang didn't say anything, he just kept chuckling.
