He originally thought that since the other party was both a colleague and a neighbor for many years, he would feel embarrassed to report them himself.
Sooner or later, Zhao Qian's case will lead to them, so why should they kick them when they're down?
But since the other party dared to resort to underhanded tactics when he was facing imminent disaster, then he shouldn't blame him for sending the other party on their way.
The family of three chatted too late that night, and Liu's parents were worried about the safety of Liu Zi driving at night, so they persuaded her to stay at home that night.
After thinking about it, Liu Zi agreed. She had already told Aunt Zhang that she might stay in Beijing that night and not go back, so they didn't need to wait and could go to sleep first.
Lying in the bed she's slept in since childhood, Liu Zi was having trouble sleeping, worried that her two daughters might come looking for her at night.
The two children are too young, and there is currently no formaldehyde testing equipment available, so Liu Zi dares not risk moving them to the new home.
Hearing her mother's words today, Liu Zi felt the urge to buy a house again.
However, buying a house depends on fate. I'll call Jianwen tomorrow and ask!
The next day, Liu Daqiang, having recovered his spirits, went out early in the morning.
He went out to buy breakfast for the mother and daughter, and many people in the neighborhood saw him.
I had heard that he was under investigation, but I didn't expect him to be released so quickly. Many people have been asking him about the situation.
Liu Daqiang laughed and said a few words briefly, stating that he had always believed the organization would not wrong him and that the person who reported him was just trying to retaliate against him. He was upright and had nothing to fear.
Everyone laughed. They'd been neighbors for so many years; who didn't know who the other was?
"Hey, Daqiang, I heard your daughter has made a lot of money running her company and even received an invitation from CCTV to present a gift for National Day. You've really made us proud!" the auntie praised, giving a thumbs up.
The auntie also has a child who works at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. I heard about it from them yesterday when they came back, and I happened to run into Liu Daqiang this morning, so I asked him about it.
"Huh? What gift?" Liu Daqiang was completely bewildered; he had no idea!
"Oh my, you didn't know? Yesterday, Liu Zi received a call from CCTV in front of everyone. There's no doubt about it. You need to go back and talk to that girl. I heard from my second son that she said she can't go unless you come back. You have to keep an eye on this big matter and not let her act recklessly," the aunt said excitedly.
Now not only Liu Daqiang knew, but the neighbors around him also heard it clearly. Everyone was extremely enthusiastic, never expecting that Liu Daqiang's divorced daughter was so capable.
Liu Daqiang scratched his head. Why didn't Zizi tell the family? Is it really true, like the aunt said, that she's not planning to go?
He knew his daughter could write songs, and that she had even sold a few, but he didn't know she was so talented that she was invited by CCTV.
"Sorry everyone, I have to go home and check on things. We'll talk again when I get back!" Liu Daqiang apologized to everyone and immediately turned around and walked quickly home.
Upon entering the room, seeing the closed door to his daughter's room, Liu Daqiang instinctively slowed his pace.
Hearing the noise, Liu's mother, still half asleep, came out of the bedroom.
"Are you alright? Why did you go out to buy breakfast so early?"
Liu Daqiang beckoned to Xu Mei, and the two went into the bedroom together and closed the door.
"What's wrong?" Xu Mei's expression was somewhat puzzled. What was this guy up to?
Liu Daqiang told Xu Mei everything he had just heard outside, and asked her if she knew about it.
"Of course I didn't know!" Xu Mei was also taken aback. How could her daughter be so amazing?
"Do you think she might not want to go?" Liu Daqiang guessed.
Xu Mei frowned slightly, then sighed and said, "Zizi is all grown up now, she has her own career, we have to trust her, she knows what to do."
"But that's National Day!" Liu Daqiang said helplessly, pouting.
"So what? You go if you're so capable. My daughter can go if she wants to, or not if she doesn't." Xu Mei raised her voice and glared at Liu Daqiang.
Liu Daqiang lowered his head dejectedly. This was something that would bring honor to his ancestors!
Liu Zi woke up at nine o'clock in the morning. She had been so busy these past two days that she was exhausted and didn't expect to sleep until this time.
She stretched and got up to go to the bathroom to wash up.
As soon as the door opened, Liu Daqiang sat up on the sofa near her bedroom door.
Liu Zi was taken aback: "Dad, are you alright?"
"It's alright now. I bought some fried dough sticks and sesame seed cakes. Would you like some?" Liu Daqiang asked solicitously.
Liu Zi held the towel and looked at her father with a puzzled expression. Something felt off.
"I'll wash up first, then I'll eat in a bit." With that, she headed towards the bathroom.
Liu Daqiang couldn't follow, so he patiently went to the kitchen to heat up some soy milk for his daughter.
Liu Zi didn't think much of it, only that her dad was bored at home because he didn't go to work today.
When she came out of the bathroom again, it was already twenty minutes later.
"Come and eat, it's almost cold now after I heated it up."
Liu Daqiang was exasperated. Why did the mother and daughter have the same habit? Why did it take them so long to wash their faces?
"They're here!"
Liu Zi hung up the towel and came over. She first picked up the bowl and drank a sip of soy milk before getting the fried dough sticks.
But as she put the fried dough stick in her mouth, she looked up and saw that Liu's father was staring at her intently.
"What's wrong?" Liu Zi looked puzzled, staring at her blankly.
Liu Daqiang leaned closer: "I heard from your Aunt Wei that you received an invitation from CCTV?"
"Mmm!" Liu Zi nodded while chewing her food.
"A gift for National Day?" Liu Daqiang leaned forward a little more.
Liu Zi frowned, swallowed what was in her mouth, and said, "It seems so. I haven't gone to the meeting yet."
Liu Daqiang was so excited that he suddenly stood up, startling Liu Zi.
Why didn't you tell me or your mom?
"How could there be time? Besides, it's not a big deal." Liu Zi looked at Liu Daqiang in surprise.
"This is the first time our family compound has ever done something like this as a gift for National Day. How could I not be excited?" Liu Daqiang couldn't understand how Liu Zi could be so calm.
"It's just an invitation; whether it will be used or selected is still up for debate!" After understanding what was going on, Liu Zi continued eating her meal with peace of mind.
"Huh? An invitation?" Liu Daqiang was stunned.
“Yeah! They invited us to write a song, but whether we'll actually use it depends on their preparatory meeting. It's still uncertain!” Liu Zi almost burst out laughing at her dad's silly expression.
"Oh, I see!" Liu Daqiang sat back down in his chair, dejected. The glorious moment he had imagined was now completely shattered.
However~
Liu Zi slowly and deliberately uttered two words.
"But what?"
Liu Daqiang, his hope rekindled, pressed on with the question.
