Chapter 189, /.

Liu Zi didn't pay attention to Wang Yan, and instead pulled her suitcase into the guardhouse.

Since the gatekeeper needed to check anyway, she simply opened it.

The magazines Wang Yan brought were a wide variety, all of which were ordered from outside by their magazine company for appreciation and study.

"Yanzi, you brought so many people with you, aren't you afraid your editor-in-chief will beat you up?" Liu Zi was slightly surprised.

This includes not only Europe and America, Japan and South Korea, but also Taiwan and Hong Kong.

The magazine's content is incredibly diverse, covering a wide range of aspects of daily life, including clothing, food, housing, and transportation.

"Our editor-in-chief agreed, and even the driver was helped by the editor-in-chief. The editor-in-chief said he would like to have a meal with you sometime, but we were too rushed last time in Beijing." Wang Yan helped Liu Zi sort and put things away, as they had been messed up on the way here.

While Liu Zi and Wang Huo were having a lively discussion, the young soldiers standing to the side blushed. They couldn't make decisions about these things and didn't know if they could bring them in.

The outside world is very open-minded, and the clothes worn by models in magazines are quite revealing. Even Liu Zi was holding a magazine with a male model on the cover and discussing with Wang Yan that this guy's muscles weren't as good-looking as the special forces soldiers she had seen. They looked like they had worked out in the gym, all looks and no substance.

Wang Yan was a little embarrassed at first, but after hearing what Liu Zi said next, he immediately became interested.

"Is it really that amazing?"

"Hmm!" Liu Zi only regretted that she couldn't take their picture.

Do you have any photos?

"No filming allowed!"

As soon as Liu Zi finished speaking, Wang Yan's eyes dimmed.

"However, I heard that foreign militaries have tactical hoods. Would it be okay if we made them wear hoods so their faces weren't visible?" Wang Yan suggested.

"no!"

Suddenly, a voice rejected Wang Yan's suggestion.

The two turned around and saw more than a dozen officers standing behind them, with the battalion commander and political commissar at the front, and Shi Yu standing to the side, covering his face.

Liu Zi immediately stood to the side, looked up and out, as if trying to distance herself from Wang Yan.

Wang Yan was dumbfounded. Why did Sister Liu run away? She was the one who asked him to take care of these people. Was he going to be kicked out?

"Sir, hello, I am an editor from the 'Reading' magazine."

Wang Yan seemed to want to identify himself, pointing to Liu Zi again and saying, "It's Liu Zi, Sister Liu's editor. She asked me to bring these."

Liu Zi glared at the guy, then innocently said, "I asked him to bring some fashion magazines, nothing else."

Wang Yan was blind. Just a moment ago, this woman was discussing the models' muscles with him with great interest, but now she was turning her back on him.

"These are all mainstream magazines that are publicly sold, not some random junk." In order to avoid being arrested, Wang Yan proactively explained the origin of the magazines.

"Our magazine went to great lengths to buy this from outside. If you don't want it, I'm taking it back with me! Our editor-in-chief signed it yesterday and then told me to get lost, feeling quite distressed!" Wang Yan's tone was now tinged with grievance, blaming these people for not recognizing its value.

"No, no!"

Liu Zi knew that it wasn't easy to get these things; they all had to be ordered from overseas and then mailed over. Even in Beijing, there wouldn't be many copies of this new version.

"Yanzi, I was wrong. Don't worry, I'll buy these things from you. I won't let your magazine suffer a loss."

"Since our editor-in-chief said it's a gift for you, then take it. If you feel bad about it, then just contact our magazine for all your future publications." Wang Yan seized the opportunity, thinking that he could use this as a favor to win Liu Zi over, so why not?

"Don't push your luck!" Liu Zi's expression changed instantly.

"snort!"

The battalion commander and political commissar knew that these foreign magazines were quite explicit, and they had seen them before, but this was the first time they had seen one on such a large scale.

"Cough cough!"

The political commissar suddenly coughed twice and said to Liu Zi, "Liu Zi, why did you bring these magazines over?"

Liu Zi snapped out of her daze, pulled out two magazines, and handed them to the brigade leader and political commissar.

"These two books are from Hong Kong. The clothes and accessories inside are all the latest trends. If we were to disguise ourselves and infiltrate, no one would suspect we were from the mainland."

Liu Zi flipped through two pages to show them; most of the pictures were of beautiful women from Hong Kong, with curly hair, red lips, and long legs.

The battalion commander and the political commissar exchanged a glance and nodded.

The political commissar said, "That's fine, but there are a few too many. Just keep a few of each as teaching materials."

"Okay!" Liu Zi thought so too.

She picked out a few unique ones and put them aside, then packed the rest back into the box for Wang Yan to take back.

"Luckily, we can still keep some. I've never seen our editor-in-chief so generous before, only you could do that," Wang Yan whispered to Liu Zi.

"Thank you so much this time. I'll treat you to a meal when I get out," Liu Zi said, clasping her hands in gratitude.

"If we make you treat us when we're on our turf, that would be a disgrace to our magazine. When you come out, I'll treat you to Anshi's most famous 'Eight Bowls'."

"Alright, alright, you go ahead, I won't argue with you." Liu Zi nodded with a smile.

"By the way, when are you coming out?" Wang Yan suddenly thought.

"It's not decided yet. I'd like to go out with their special forces team to experience survival training." Liu Zi felt something was missing.

Wang Yan gave Liu Zi a thumbs up, saying, "This woman is really going all out to write her book."

"I also brought you some watermelon and snacks, they're in the car. Can you accept them here?" Wang Yan suddenly leaned close to Liu Zi and whispered.

"Really? Of course I can take you. I'm not really here to go to jail. The women in the family compound have taken such good care of me lately, I haven't even had a chance to thank them. This is really a godsend."

"Is there a lot of stuff?" Liu Zi asked, both happy and a little worried.

"There's quite a lot. When I was discussing it with my colleagues, the vice president overheard us. He told me to bring more, otherwise it wouldn't be enough to go around. He used to be a soldier too." The vice president even specially approved some money for Wang Yan to send in the name of the magazine.

"So what do you have?"

"Braised pork, roast chicken, and fruit."

"Also, on the way here, I happened to run into a watermelon harvesting family, so I filled a truck with them." Wang Yan insisted on following the vice president's instructions to bring more watermelons.

"Wow, there's fruit!" Liu Zi's eyes lit up. The food here was good, but there wasn't much fruit.

The officers watched as the two whispered amongst themselves, seemingly oblivious to anything amiss, as they collected the magazines featuring scantily clad women one by one, occasionally offering their critiques of the accompanying images.

Political Commissar Tang suddenly felt a headache coming on; he couldn't help but feel that Liu Zi was becoming somewhat unreliable.

Fortunately, although Liu Zi was very interested in these magazines, she knew what kind of place she was in, so she only picked out about twenty and then stopped.

"Captain, Political Commissar, Editor Wang brought me some food. Could you find someone to help me deliver it to the family compound?" Liu Zi asked for help.

"Okay, no problem. Shi Yu, you can come along!"

Liu Zi glanced at Wang Yan and said, "We might need another vehicle; we have quite a lot of stuff."

"Did you bring something?" Political Commissar Tang quipped helplessly.

"Their magazine is very wealthy and they value me quite a bit," Liu Zi shamelessly boasted.
