Chapter 122 Meeting an Acquaintance

Just as they were speaking, the preparatory bell rang.

Meng Jing said, "You guys should go to class now. Let's have a meal together another day and catch up."

Gu Xiaoxue agreed, "Okay, I'll come to the hospital to find you then." Then, turning to Hua Kai, she said, "If you have anything else to say, I'll ask the homeroom teacher for a leave of absence for you?"

Hua Kai said, "No need, I've said enough." Then she said to Meng Jing, "I'll go see your brother tomorrow at noon. I'll do my best."

Meng Jing said, "Then I'll really have to leave this to you."

Hua Kai nodded: "Okay, I'll go in then."

Meng Jing waved to the two of them and watched them go inside. She was still a little uneasy, afraid that Hua Kai would tell Gu Xiaoxue about Meng Ming, but there was nothing she could do. She had to specifically tell Hua Kai not to say anything.

Hua Kai and Meng Ming entered the school. As they walked, Meng Ming casually asked, "What does Meng Jing need from you?"

Hua Kai knew that Meng Ming's affairs were his private matter, and if anyone was going to talk about it, it would be Meng Jing and Gu Xiaoxue who would say it. She couldn't be a gossip: "This is his private matter, and I'm not at liberty to talk about it."

Gu Xiaoxue laughed: "Your personality is really like Brother Fan's. You respect people a lot. I admire you."

Hua Kai smiled and said, "This is how mature people do things."

The two entered the teaching building, and the bell for evening self-study rang. Hua Kai ran back to the classroom.

The next day, after school at noon, Hua Kai went to Meng Ming's workplace and asked the gatekeeper to call Meng Ming and ask him to come out for a moment.

Meng Ming didn't want to come out, thinking that his family had asked him about those things. However, when the gatekeeper said it was a young and beautiful girl, Meng Ming was really confused and didn't know who she was, so he quickly came out.

When he arrived at the door and saw Huakai, he was surprised: "Huakai? Why are you looking for me at my workplace? Is there something wrong with the house?"

Hua Kai said, "The house went smoothly, but I have some personal matters to discuss. Would it be convenient for us to talk in private for a moment?"

Meng Ming said, "You haven't eaten yet, have you? Let's find a place to eat and talk."

Hua Kai agreed, "Okay, it's not a matter of just a few words anyway."

Meng Ming took Hua Kai to a restaurant near his workplace and asked for a quiet seat by the window.

Hua Kai didn't ask him to order too much; two dishes were enough.

Meng Ming ordered an extra plate of dumplings and a soup.

After ordering, Meng Ming poured tea for Hua Kai: "I really can't guess why you came to me, but we're friends, so don't hesitate to ask if you need anything."

Hua Kai took a sip of tea and then said, "I know Meng Jing. I met her when I went to your house. We got along quite well and can be considered friends."

Meng Ming smiled wryly and said, "Now I know why you're looking for me. I don't know any of my friends or family, so the fact that they were able to find you probably means they've caused you a lot of trouble, right?"

"Since we're friends, there's no need to be so polite about troubling you. You know why I'm here, so you don't mind saying a few words, do you?" Hua Kai also needed to know whether the other party wanted to talk about this topic.

She is not a child; in her past life, she had been subjected to a lot of scrutiny from others, so she understands the importance of respecting others.

It's inherently impolite to pry into someone's privacy and say things they don't want to hear. There are many reasons why someone might not want to get married. If a few words from others could change their mind, they would probably want to get married on their own without needing any persuasion.

Meng Ming listened to Hua Kai's words and nodded: "My sister should have told you that I don't want to get married. I also expressed my thoughts when we were decorating the house."

Hua Kai said, "Well, I won't ask why you don't want to get married. That's your privacy, and I respect that. But you can't have this attitude towards your family. Because if you do that, you'll never reach a consensus. They won't understand you, and you won't be able to communicate with them. In the long run, it will only make your relationship more and more strained. But that's not what you want. You still care about your family, and your family cares about you too. Otherwise, Meng Jing wouldn't have come to me, right?"

This is the first time someone has spoken to Meng Ming from this perspective. Before, people always said that Meng Ming was wrong, that he should get married, and that he was unfilial.

He smiled as he looked at the blooming flowers: "I knew you were an extraordinary girl the first time I saw you. Now I have to admire you, but my family's situation really can't be improved."

“I understand, so you can’t be too decisive. You still need to give your family some time to accept it. Also, your house will be renovated in about half a month. I should be able to order the furniture for you before the New Year so you’ll have your own home before the New Year. You’ll live separately from your family after that, which will actually reduce conflicts. It won’t be long, so just give in and go home first.” Hua Kai said to Meng Ming.

Meng Ming was silent for a while: "My sister found a good mediator. I'm going home tonight."

Hua Kai breathed a sigh of relief: "That's good. Meng Jing was really worried about you. Family is the closest thing."

At this point, the waiter started serving the dishes. Hua Kai didn't say much more because she has a habit of not talking about things she's against for too long, as it increases her psychological pressure.

She knew this was a huge psychological burden for Meng Ming, so she changed the subject and chatted about her plans to open a factory and talk about furniture.

Meng Ming ate the meal quite easily. He had thought that Hua Kai would help Meng Jing preach those grand principles and encourage him to get married, have children, and carry on the family line. However, he really couldn't accept it. He liked someone that society didn't accept, and he didn't want to harm an innocent woman. If they got married, he wouldn't be able to give her love. So, being alone was also a responsibility to others. It was just that he couldn't fulfill his parents' dream of having a grandson. But he still had his sister, and the same went for a grandson.

After finishing her meal, Hua Kai said goodbye and went back to school.

Over the next two days, besides studying and drawing, Hua Kai also wrote down many of her plans for the sofa factory. The first drafts of brochures and other materials were completed, and sample books were also made. All that's needed is to paste product photos on them later. At this stage, the printing and binding technology was still relatively poor and the cost was high, so it was kept simple. Just paste the photos later. It was low-cost and intuitive.

The two clients introduced to Grandma Fang both brought their older brothers with them when they submitted the drawings, and Hua Qingyi was the one who explained everything to them.

Then we took on a new client, and Hua Qingyi took the measurements and drew the floor plan. He communicated with the client while Hua Kai listened in and offered some suggestions.

Hua Qingyi learned very quickly. Although he couldn't draw renderings, he could complete floor plans independently, record client requirements, and had excellent insights into interior design.

Hua Kai felt that if she had a few more jobs, she could just focus on drawing the renderings and leave the rest to her older brother.

She just felt a void in her heart after not seeing Ye Yifan for the past two days.
