Chapter Fifty-Seven: Trying to Play Dirty Tactics?

Looking at the calm and composed Hua Kai beside her, Lu Xue felt a growing pressure: "Are you and Guan Rui getting along well? It seems like you two are very close."

Listening to the other person's words, Hua Kai roughly guessed what she meant. Last time she saw her, she felt that the other person was full of jealousy, and now she was basically certain that she liked Guan Rui.

So Hua Kai said, "We're just ordinary friends, you don't need to worry about it."

Lu Xue's expression relaxed considerably after hearing this: "I also think it's impossible between you two. Guan Rui seems to care about you a lot. I rarely see him being so attentive to a girl, and he even collected so many practice problems for you."

Hua Kai said, "Because I helped him with some things, he's probably just grateful to me."

There's no need for a guy you don't like to cause misunderstandings for his admirers, so Hua Kai clearly stated her reasoning.

Hearing Hua Kai's words, Lu Xue's expression turned serious again: "You're helping Guan Rui? How is that possible?" Her face practically screamed disbelief.

Hua Kai originally wanted to prevent the other person from misunderstanding, and she didn't intend to have any further interaction with her, so she was very polite before. However, the other person's tone made Hua Kai very uncomfortable.

She said to Lu Xue, "Why is it impossible?"

Lu Xue looked Hua Kai up and down: "I heard you're from the countryside. Guan Rui's family is well-off, so it's not really realistic for you to help him." She then added, "I'm not looking down on people from the countryside, but people from the countryside don't really have any connections or influence in the city. At most, they might have a relative in the city, but that might not even be of any use. You're from the countryside, you should know that."

Hua Kai didn't intend to say much to Lu Xue, just to let her know that she had nothing to do with Guan Rui, but the more the girl spoke, the more barbed her tone became.

Her attitude turned colder: "There are capable people everywhere. Come to think of it, your family isn't all from the city, is it? Your ancestors moved from the countryside, didn't they? Don't be so narrow-minded."

Lu Xue sneered: "You have quite a strong sense of self-respect, but some things can't be denied. Country folks are just ignorant. All the kids in our city go to school. What about you? It seems you almost had to drop out of school because your family couldn't afford it, right?"

Hua Kai was surprised that Lu Xue knew her so well. It seemed that Lu Xue had done her homework before coming to her. She said to Lu Xue, "The country is developing and society is progressing. Life in rural areas is getting better and better, and people are paying more attention to education. I still came to school, didn't I? Maybe my path is a little harder than yours, but who knows what the future holds? Remember, don't look down on people easily, or you'll regret it later."

Although Lu Xue had heard that Hua Kai was difficult to deal with, she did not expect it to be this difficult. However, she was aware that she had not yet used her ultimate move.

She said to the blooming flowers, "The Children's Palace is just ahead. I study painting there. I'll take you there to broaden your horizons."

She knew about the Flower Blossom Children's Palace. She loved painting and was very talented. In her previous life, she studied for more than ten years and even studied with an international master for half a year. She had a certain level of skill in painting, so she inquired about the art studio when she came to the school.

I learned that the school doesn't have its own art studio yet, and most of the people learning to paint in the area go to the Children's Palace.

Hua Kai has no fear of going to a place like an art studio. She can't speak for herself about other things, but when it comes to painting, she has never been afraid.

She said to Lu Xue, "Then let's go take a look."

Lu Xue's smugness was on full display: "What you see today will open the door to a new world for you, and let you know that our world is different from yours."

Hua Kai thought to herself, "My sister won awards in international art exhibitions and competitions in her past life. Today, I'm going to teach Lu Xue a lesson. Stop looking down on this and that. Who knows, the people you used to look down on might be the ones you can't reach in the future."

This was the 1990s, an era where miracles were so possible. The owners of several established companies I had worked with in my previous life all started their businesses in the 1990s.

She followed Lu Xue toward the Children's Palace, which was not far away, just two streets away from the No. 1 Middle School in the city, and they arrived quickly.

Upon entering the Children's Palace, Lu Xue led Hua Kai to the fourth floor, the top floor. The art studio needed to be relatively quiet, so it was on the top floor, while dancing, singing, and playing musical instruments were done downstairs.

Upon entering the studio, a sense of familiarity washed over her. Looking at the canvases, paper, brushes, and vibrant paints, she felt an urge to pick up a few strokes herself.

It was dinnertime, and there were only two girls in the art studio. When they saw Lu Xue arrive with her friend, the two girls greeted Lu Xue, said they were going out to buy some food, and then left.

Hua Kai stopped in front of an easel. The signature in the lower right corner of the easel was Lu Xue. She looked at the watercolor still life on the easel, her brows furrowing slightly. The overall picture was too dirty; the dark areas were not suppressed, the bright areas were not lifted, and the details were not handled well.

At this moment, Lu Xue walked up behind Hua Kai and said, "How is it? In your mind, drawing is just about holding a watercolor pen and drawing a little house and a river in a sketchbook, right? You didn't expect that real drawing is like this, did you? Guan Rui and I have been drawing since elementary school. Our world is different from yours, so you should recognize your own position and not think too much. Even if Guan Rui is nice to you now, you are not on the same path. Do you understand now?"

Upon hearing this, Hua Kai understood Lu Xue's main point today: to bring her here so that she could see the difference between herself and them, and then automatically distance herself from Guan Rui.

Thinking about it, she found it ridiculous. She had simply brought shame upon herself. Besides, she and Guan Rui were friends, so it was really none of Guan Rui's place to cause trouble.

Hua Kai looked at the painting and smiled: "You might not believe it, but while I may not have many other skills, I do have some insights into painting. I've also studied it a bit, and you're not necessarily better than me." She already knew Lu Xue's abilities, which was why she dared to say that.

Lu Xue laughed after hearing Hua Kai's words, a mocking laugh: "Hua Kai, now I know what 'ignorance is bliss' means. You dare to spout such nonsense? Aren't you afraid of biting your tongue?"

Hua Kai remained calm and looked at Lu Xue: "I never make empty promises."

"Hua Kai? What are you doing here?" Guan Rui was genuinely surprised when he entered the room and saw Hua Kai.

Hua Kai turned to look at Guan Rui: "Your friend brought me here."

Guan Rui looked at Lu Xue with anger: "Lu Xue, what are you trying to do?"

Lu Xue was surprised that Guan Rui came so early today. Recently, because of Zhu Tao's matter, he has been coming very late, and sometimes he doesn't come at all. Why is he here so early today?

Suddenly, Lu Xue had a thought. Didn't Hua Kai just boast that she could paint? Guan Rui disliked people who joked about art the most. She said to Guan Rui, "You misunderstood. Hua Kai said she could paint and wanted to see it. Just now, Hua Kai said she wanted to paint a picture."
