Chapter Seven: Trouble Arises Again

Thinking of all this, Hua Kai's eyes reddened. She felt indescribable pain in her heart, truly heartbroken for her eldest brother who did everything for the family.

She looked at Hua Qingyi, tears welling up in her eyes, but a smile played on her lips: "Brother, from now on, we won't work together like before to make our family live a better life."

Hua Qingyi smiled and nodded, "Yes, I'll go up the mountain to dig up medicinal herbs to support your schooling."

Hua Kai looked at Hua Qingyi and said, "Big brother, I don't want you to work so hard. I want to earn money in the future too..."

Before Hua Kai could finish speaking, a harsh voice came from outside the door: "Hua Kai, you heartless brat, you are really too cruel. Today I will teach you a lesson on behalf of your grandfather."

Hua Qingyang exclaimed in surprise, "Oh no, Grandma's here."

Hua Wanjiang and Gu Lanyan panicked at this moment. Although they thought their children were right, they instinctively tensed up when they heard that familiar voice.

Hua Kai had anticipated this battle, so she was prepared. She said to her parents, "Mom and Dad, don't worry. Don't stop me from doing anything. I have my own plans."

Before Hua Wanjiang and Gu Lanyan could react to the meaning of Hua Kai's words, Zheng Shuzhen and Hua Zhongzhi had already entered, followed by Hua Lin's mother and second aunt, Huo Yanping.

When Hua Wanjiang and his wife saw the two elders arrive, they still greeted them respectfully as "Father" and "Mother." Then Hua Wanjiang said to the two elders, "Father and Mother, please sit on the kang (heated brick bed). Whatever you need to say, please sit down and we'll talk."

Zheng Shuzhen was slightly overweight, and her upturned eyes gave her a somewhat domineering air. At her age, she was still wearing a purplish-red cardigan, which was a rare sight in the countryside.

She plopped down on the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed), without even taking off her shoes, and crossed her legs over the bed: "You should all ask your wretched girl what she's been doing! How dare you ask me?"

Hua Zhongzhi was a rather ordinary, unassuming old man. He sat down next to Zheng Shuzhen and said with a hint of helplessness, "Boss, you really should discipline your girl. She's outrageous."

Huo Yanping sat on the other side of Zheng Shuzhen, glaring fiercely at Hua Kai. She was dark-skinned and thin, and when she glared at Hua Kai, her eyes appeared to have a lot of white, which looked a bit creepy.

Hua Kai knew that she had to fire the first shot today and set a good example for the people in her family who were used to being oppressed for years.

Furthermore, even if there were several more people, they wouldn't be a match for him.

She pulled up a stool and sat down opposite Zheng Shuzhen: "Grandma, what heinous thing have I done that makes you say such awful things to me?"

As she spoke, she crossed her legs and casually dusted off her trousers. First and foremost, she had the upper hand in terms of presence.

Zheng Shuzhen looked at the blooming flowers with a strange, even unfamiliar, expression. She rubbed her eyes and said, "You brat, have you got some nerve? What kind of attitude is this?"

Hua Kai smiled and looked at Zheng Shuzhen: "I didn't do anything wrong. I was framed like this, and I think I'm already doing a great job by being able to talk to you calmly."

At this moment, not only Zheng Shuzhen, but everyone in the room was so amazed by the blooming flowers that they couldn't close their mouths.

Seeing everyone staring at her, Hua Kai continued, "Grandpa and Grandma came today to reason with me, right? Then let's have a proper discussion about this. Hua Lin got drunk and slept with Wang Shengli. What does that have to do with me? Hua Lin couldn't save face, so she's blaming me, saying that I knocked them out and carried them to bed. Do you think that's possible?"

Actually, Hua Lin's plan today wasn't something she came up with alone. It was something she, Zheng Shuzhen, and Huo Yanping came up with together. They wanted to not only avoid returning the betrothal gifts but also break off the engagement, and then blame everything on Hua Kai, making Hua Kai marry Wang Shengli.

What was supposed to be a flawless plan turned out to be a disaster; Hua Lin ended up being thrown into Wang Shengli's bed. When Zheng Shuzhen heard Hua Lin say all this, she was furious.

They never imagined that this flower was not the same as the one they thought it was, and assumed that Hua Lin had not added enough medicine, allowing the flower to escape.

However, they couldn't reveal the secrets of drugging people, because it was something that couldn't be exposed. If it were revealed, it would be even more embarrassing and might even be illegal.

Zheng Shuzhen had already made up her mind before she arrived, so she said to Huakai, "Huakai, this matter is over, and we won't go into details. But you and Linlin have been friends since childhood, and this matter concerns Linlin's reputation. You must step forward to help her clarify things. In a little while, you will come with us to the Wang family and find some influential people in the village to explain this matter clearly."

Hua Kai looked at Zheng Shuzhen and smiled, then asked, "And then?"

Zheng Shuzhen was taken aback by Hua Kai's question: "What, and then?"

Hua Kai sneered at Zheng Shuzhen: "And then what am I supposed to do? I'll become a shameless villain for no reason, framing those two for having sex? I'll be despised by the villagers, and I'll never be able to hold my head up again. Why should I?"

These words, "dog couple," ignited Huo Yanping's anger. She rushed over to Hua Kai and slapped her: "You bitch, how dare you insult my daughter!"

How could Hua Kai let her hit her? She grabbed Huo Yanping's wrist, stood up, and pushed her back hard. Huo Yanping staggered a few steps and bumped into the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed) before stopping.

The couple, Hua Wanjiang and his wife, who were about to come over and pull her along, as well as Hua Qingyi, all stopped in their tracks, staring at Hua Kai in disbelief. At that moment, they felt like they were dreaming, a little dazed, too shocked to believe that this really was Hua Kai.

Zheng Shuzhen was also stunned; she couldn't believe that Huakai could do such a thing.

However, her eyes lit up and she had a new idea. She grabbed her husband Hua Zhongzhi's arm and said, "Old man, I think Hua Kai has gone crazy. No wonder she treated Linlin like that today. It turns out she has something wrong with her head. We have to take her to the village hospital to see a doctor right away."

Zheng Shuzhen isn't stupid. Since Huakai is unwilling to clarify things herself, then she'll just say that Huakai is crazy. Then it's normal for a crazy person to do whatever they want. In the end, she'll pin everything on Huakai and let her say whatever she wants.

Hua Zhongzhi also felt that Hua Kai was not a person like before, and he said, "Hua Kai really needs to go to the hospital to get checked out."

Hua Kai admired Zheng Shuzhen's abilities and said to Hua Zhongzhi, "Master, there's no need to trouble yourself. I'm perfectly normal. I've just been pushed too far by you guys and want to change things up."

After saying that, she turned to Zheng Shuzhen and said, "Grandma's mind is very sharp, not at all like someone her age. But my mind is perfectly clear. You really don't have the ability to force me to go to the hospital. Do you think anyone can frame me? Dream on! I'm telling you this now, no one can bully me anymore. Don't think you can control everything. I'm telling you, the world has changed."

At this moment, Hua Kai looked out the window and saw that the rain had stopped. She also noticed that there were more pedestrians on the street. She had her own idea. To deal with these people, she would have to use some tricks. As a newcomer, she needed to gain more people's recognition.

Hua Wanjiang was worried that Hua Kai would be beaten by Zheng Shuzhen, so he whispered to her, "Kai Kai, don't go against your grandma. Talk things out."

Knowing her father's worries, Hua Kai said to Hua Wanjiang with certainty, "Dad, don't worry, I know what I'm doing. Your daughter won't suffer any losses. This matter must be resolved."
