Chapter Sixty-Nine: Zhu Tao Discharged from the Hospital

Hua Kai then noticed a boy wearing a hat next to Guan Rui.

The boy kept looking at Huakai, and then said to her with a sincere expression, "Huakai, I am Zhu Tao. I was in the hospital before and it was inconvenient for me to come and thank you. Today I was finally discharged and finally met you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

Hua Kai saw that Zhu Tao looked very energetic and was happy for him: "It's good that you're better. Don't be so polite. I was just giving Guan Rui some advice."

Guan Rui said, "That's no small matter. Let's not talk about it here. Let's find a place to eat and talk about it."

Zhang Miao tactfully replied, "Since it's blooming, I'll head to the cafeteria now."

Guan Rui called out to Zhang Miao, "You're Hua Kai's good friend, so you're our friend too. Let's go together."

Hua Kai thought Guan Rui was a good person and talented, and she wanted Zhang Miao to have more friends, so she pulled Zhang Miao along and said, "Let's go together."

Zhu Tao said, "Yes, let's go together."

Zhang Miao knew about Guan Rui and Zhu Tao's situation, so he didn't refuse and went with them.

Hua Kai didn't want Zhu Tao to spend too much money, since he wasn't well-off, but she appreciated his good intentions. So they didn't go far and found a window seat at a small snack bar across from the school, where the four of them sat down.

Guan Rui let Hua Kai and Zhang Miao order the food. Neither of them were the type to be extravagant, so they ordered one meat dish, two vegetable dishes, and one cold dish, which was fine.

Seeing that the two hadn't ordered much, Guan Rui added a sweet and sour pork dish, as girls tend to prefer this kind of sweet and sour flavor.

After ordering the food, Zhu Tao sincerely thanked Hua Kai again: "Hua Kai, your kindness cannot be expressed in just a few words. I will definitely do my best to help you in the future."

Hua Kai said, "Since we're friends, then don't be polite. Besides, I didn't think too much when I helped you. I'm happy to have another friend."

While pouring water for everyone, Guan Rui said to Zhu Tao, "You idiot, I told you, Hua Kai is a very generous girl, unlike any other girl we know."

"Guan Rui, Zhu Tao, what a coincidence, you're here too." Lu Xue said as she walked over to them, slightly out of breath, as she must have walked quickly.

When Hua Kai saw Lu Xue, she frowned. How could there be so many coincidences? Many coincidences are actually man-made.

When Zhu Tao saw Lu Xue, he really thought it was a coincidence. He stood up and said, "Lu Xue, it's been a long time. What a coincidence! I was thinking of coming to see you in a couple of days after I've recovered."

Lu Xue said with a hint of grievance, "We've known each other for ten years. What, you've made new friends and forgotten your old ones?"

Zhu Tao said embarrassedly, "What are you thinking? Hua Kai saved my life, but I've never met her. Of course, the first thing I wanted to do after being discharged from the hospital was to come and see my savior."

Lu Xue was unaware of the specifics of the matter because Guan Rui had been avoiding her.

Of course, Lu Xue didn't worry much about Zhu Tao when he was seriously ill. She only bought some fruit to visit him once when he was first hospitalized, and then she never went again. She didn't even ask Guan Rui about Zhu Tao a few times.

Later, Lu Xue heard that the school had donated money to Zhu Tao, and that it was later on TV. She thought it was Guan Rui and the school who did it. She never thought that this had anything to do with Hua Kai, and she never asked Guan Rui.

At this moment, she looked at Zhu Tao in confusion: "Zhu Tao, have you lost your mind after having brain surgery? You don't even know Hua Kai, how could she possibly save your life? Isn't this a joke?"

Zhu Tao assumed that Guan Rui had told Lu Xue about this, since the three of them had known each other for ten years. He looked at Guan Rui and asked, "Lu Xue doesn't know about this?"

Guan Rui sighed: "Lu Xue hasn't asked about your illness either, so what am I supposed to say to her?"

He had been feeling uneasy about this matter, after all, the three of them were friends, but when Zhu Tao got into trouble, Lu Xue didn't show any concern, and he also had a problem with Lu Xue from a friendship standpoint.

Upon hearing Guan Rui's words, a hint of disappointment flashed in Zhu Tao's eyes. He thought Lu Xue was a friend, and that she was just a girl who couldn't go to the hospital often, but he thought Lu Xue cared about him.

Unexpectedly, she didn't care about this friendship at all. Zhu Tao is a person who values friendship very much, and he was truly saddened at this moment.

Lu Xue's face was very pale at this moment, and she could only force an explanation: "Zhu Tao, I am a girl, so it is inconvenient for me to visit you in the hospital often. Besides, I can't help you much, and I feel that going there would only cause trouble. I have always been thinking about you."

Zhu Tao wanted to say something, but didn't, only managing a forced smile.

Lu Xue was feeling a bit overwhelmed. It wouldn't have been a big deal if she hadn't gone to see Zhu Tao, and no one would have paid much attention. But now, with the contrast of Hua Kai, things were different.

She hated Hua Kai to the core, and she couldn't understand how Hua Kai had helped Zhu Tao.

So she looked at Huakai and asked, "Huakai, you don't even know Zhu Tao, so why did you help him? Did you use some tricks to deceive Guan Rui? I know you're capable and cunning. Let's talk things out openly so I can understand."

She just couldn't believe that Hua Kai would help Zhu Tao that much. She thought Hua Kai must have used a scheme. As long as she brought it up, Hua Kai's deception would be exposed, and she would be in the right.

Hua Kai looked at Lu Xue and laughed: "Do you think Guan Rui and Zhu Tao are children? They're two adults, you think I can fool them? Then I'm pretty amazing."

Seeing that Hua Kai didn't explain, Lu Xue felt even more confident: "Hua Kai, don't think you can fool boys just because you can charm them. I'm not that easy to fool."

At this point, Guan Rui couldn't stand it anymore. He stood up, his hands on the table, and said, "Lu Xue, why do you always pick on Hua Kai? If you insult Hua Kai again, don't call yourself my friend anymore."

At this moment, there was another table of high school students eating at the snack bar. They knew Guan Rui and Hua Kai, after all, she was a new girl in the first year of high school, and her beauty had become well-known in the school recently. Hearing the commotion, they also looked over.

Lu Xue was startled by Guan Rui's outburst, and also hurt. Tears welled up in her eyes: "Guan Rui, how can you treat me like this for a girl you just met? We grew up together, and you're yelling at me for someone else?"

Guan Rui was so angry that the veins on his forehead were bulging: "Lu Xue, I used to think you were just a bit willful and spoiled by your family, but now I realize you have character issues. I've said it so many times, we're just friends, nothing more. Hua Kai is also my friend, not someone else. You're really not that special to me, and I won't have any feelings for you. If you keep acting like this, don't blame me for not being able to be friends anymore."
