Chapter Thirty-Four is Not So Friendly

The lunch break bell had barely rung when a group of students poured into the cafeteria. They must have just finished their PE class. Being close to the main gate, they arrived the fastest. The boys were all drenched in sweat and looked very energetic.

Hua Kai really liked this feeling. In her previous life, she hadn't truly experienced the beauty of student life. Back then, all she thought about was studying and leaving that home as soon as possible. In this life, she was determined to fully enjoy her wonderful student days.

Looking at the carefree smiles on the faces of the seventeen or eighteen-year-old boys and girls, she smiled too; it felt so good.

Some students who had finished getting their meals noticed Hua Kai and started talking about her because she was so beautiful. At that moment, sunlight shone through the window and onto Hua Kai, making her look like she was surrounded by a halo.

By this time, the cafeteria was getting more and more crowded. Hua Kai quickly finished her meal, returned the tray, and left the cafeteria. She needed to get back to her dorm as soon as possible so she could get to know her roommates, who were likely to be her life partners for the next three years.

Back in the dorm, no one was back yet; they were probably all eating in the cafeteria. So she sat on a stool by the window. She was on the top bunk, so it wasn't convenient for her to sit on the top bunk, and she couldn't just sit on other people's beds below. So she sat on the stool and waited for her roommates.

The dormitory rooms don't have private bathrooms; the water room and toilets are both at the top of the room and are shared, so the corridor becomes quite lively at this time.

A moment later, the dormitory door opened and two girls came in.

The woman walking in front had her hair in a ponytail with a pink bow, and was wearing a denim outfit, a popular style at the time.

The girl behind was rather thin, with slightly yellowish hair, two braids, and wearing a gray plaid shirt.

They were stunned when they came in and saw the flower in bloom, because they didn't recognize her and because the girl was so outstanding.

Hua Kai took the initiative to walk over and greeted the two classmates with a smile: "Hello, my name is Hua Kai. I was delayed in registering because of some family matters. I will be spending the next three years of high school with you. Please take care of me."

The girl with the ponytail looked at Hua Kai and asked, somewhat incredulously, "Are you Hua Kai from our class? Didn't you not come because of family difficulties?"

Because there happened to be a boy named Fang Xu from Hua Kai Junior High in their class. That boy didn't like to gossip, but the reason Hua Kai didn't come was indeed because of family difficulties, so he was telling the truth.

Hua Kai's first impression of the girl opposite her was that she didn't like her, because her expression conveyed a sense of wishing the other person ill.

But Huakai isn't a child. In her past life, she had seen all sorts of people, and she never expected that everyone in her dormitory would be so easy to get along with.

So he said to the girl, "It's true that we were delayed in reporting before because of family difficulties, but now the country's policies are good, and our family is also making progress. I believe things will get better and better."

She couldn't deny the reason why she hadn't come to school back then, after all, that was something many people knew, and she had inquired about it with both the high school and the rural middle school. However, she couldn't let the other party suppress her. Of course, this person already had a bad impression of her, and she could try to have as little contact with him as possible in the future.

However, the girl with the ponytail still refused to accept it. She came from a relatively well-off family in the class. Although she wasn't particularly outstanding in appearance, she was definitely the most outstanding in the class in terms of dressing. But the girl in front of her was obviously prettier and had a better temperament than her, and she was dressed so fashionably. If she was Huakai, and her grades were also good, wouldn't she be completely outshone?

Looking at the blooming flowers, she asked again to confirm, "Are you really a blooming flower?"

"Why are you all blocking the door?" A tall girl with short hair walked in, smiled and waved to Hua Kai, "Hello." She thought it was one of her roommates' friends.

Hua Kai smiled and waved to her: "Hello, my name is Hua Kai, and I'm your new roommate."

The short-haired girl walked to the opposite side of the flower field: "Welcome, welcome. My name is Zhang Miao. Please take care of me in the future."

Hua Kai really likes this simple and generous girl: "Let's learn from each other in the future."

As they were talking, two more girls came in. One wore black-rimmed glasses, had her hair in a bun, and was rather shy. Her name was Zhang Weifang, and she lived in the upper bunk next to Huakai. The other girl also had two braids and her name was Li Xiang. She was the dormitory head and lived in the lower bunk below Zhang Weifang.

The two girls were very enthusiastic. They greeted Huakai and asked her if there was anything she didn't understand and what they could do to help her.

The girl with the ponytail didn't introduce herself. She was in the lower bunk opposite Li Xiang. She went over, took some change from under her pillow, and said she was going back to the classroom to study.

The petite girl nodded at the blooming flowers without saying anything, and then followed the girl with the ponytail out.

After they left, the short-haired girl, Zhang Miao, pulled Hua Kai to sit on her bed: "It's inconvenient for you up there. If you come back, you can just sit on my bed. I'm not that particular."

Hua Kai smiled and said, "I'll be the one bothering you the most while I'm up here, so just don't look down on me in the future."

Zhang Miao laughed heartily and joked, "If you offend me, I won't let you get down."

Hua Kai couldn't stop laughing at Zhang Miao's antics: "Then you really underestimate me. I can jump down from up there."

Zhang Miao quickly waved his hand: "No, I was just joking."

Hua Kai was telling the truth, but she could only smile and say, "I know you're joking."

Looking at Hua Kai, dormitory head Li Xiang said, "Your arrival has made things lively. Xiao Fang is quiet, and Zhang Miao always complains that the dormitory is too stuffy. Now, the two of you in the bunk bed are a perfect match."

Hua Kai joked, "It seems this bed was destined to be reserved for me."

Zhang Weifang watched them chatting and laughing. Although she didn't participate, she kept smiling and occasionally adjusted her glasses, which was especially adorable.

After chatting and laughing for a while, Li Xiang also introduced the dormitory situation to Hua Kai.

The girl with the ponytail is named Zhou Xinrui. She lives in the city, but because her parents are busy with work, she lives at school and occasionally goes home.

The petite girl was named Wang Lingling. She had been following Zhou Xinrui since the start of the semester, doing whatever Zhou Xinrui asked her to do.

Hua Kai is quite familiar with these things. In the dormitory and even in the class, there are often girls who are good at themselves and like to bring along a less noticeable girl to highlight their presence.

These were all people she had seen at school in her previous life. She didn't plan to waste time on them in this life. She had to think about getting rich and becoming a wealthy woman in her spare time. She should just ignore those kinds of people and stay with those who were positive, motivated, and focused on their studies.

They talked until ten minutes before the preparatory bell rang, and Hua Kai, carrying the books she needed for the afternoon class, went to the teaching building with three other girls.

Instead of going directly to the classroom, she went to find her homeroom teacher first, asking the teacher to take her to introduce herself to her classmates.
