Chapter 131 Moving into the New Home

Back in the main room, Jiang Xiaoli couldn't help but complain, "If she had spoken to people properly, I might have given her another chance. But she just came and knelt down? That's ridiculous. Are her knees that weak?"

She hates spineless people the most.

Li Guizhi served her a bowl of porridge. "Ignore her. We're moving anyway, and I get annoyed by people like her."

After breakfast, the two tidied up the house, and Jiang Xiaoli was about to go out to call a car.

Xue Bin arrived carrying a small bag. "Miss Jiang, Mr. Xiao asked me to help you move."

Li Guizhi slapped her forehead and said, "I was just thinking about what I forgot. Haha, yesterday your Aunt Xu said she would find someone who can drive to help us."

Xue Bin glanced at the several large bundles piled on the table. "Miss Jiang, is this all?"

"Hmm, we don't have much stuff." Jiang Xiaoli said, putting the bundle onto the tricycle in the yard. "Where did you park the tricycle?"

Xue Bin picked up the heaviest bag of books and replied, "It's hard to turn around on this side of the alley, so I parked at the alley entrance, it's very close."

After loading the large bundles into the tricycle, Jiang Xiaoli opened the courtyard gate to make it easier for him to push the tricycle out.

Grandma Zhang, who had just returned from grocery shopping, asked in surprise, "Guizhi, what's going on here?"

"Aunt Zhang, we're moving today."

Grandma Zhang smiled and congratulated them, "You've moved into an apartment, haven't you? That's wonderful."

Li Guizhi smiled and nodded at her.

After putting their things in the car at the street corner, Li Guizhi rode the tricycle home, and the group drove directly to "Champs-Élysées".

After helping them deliver the items to their homes, Xue Bin returned to the company.

Jiang Xiaoli changed into a pair of slippers and sprawled on the sofa. "This feels so good! It's much more comfortable than my recliner!"

Li Guizhi laughed as she brought in the curtains, sheets, and duvet covers that were drying on the balcony. "Look at you! Come on, hand me these things, I'll hang the curtains up."

She brought over a household folding ladder, climbed up, and Jiang Xiaoli helped her hold the ladder while handing her the curtains.

After hanging up the curtains in all the rooms, the mother and daughter made the beds. Just as Li Guizhi was about to cook, there was a knock on the door.

Xu Feng stood at the door with a smile, "Sister-in-law, how's the packing going?"

Li Guizhi looked at the group of workers behind her helping with the move and exclaimed, "Wow, how much stuff have you packed?"

Xu Feng chuckled, "I really have too much stuff at home. This is only about half of what I've packed. I was thinking of moving over here as soon as possible and then dealing with the rest slowly."

Jiang Xiaoli poked her head out of the house, "Auntie, are you moving in today too?"

“Yes.” Xu Feng nodded. “Last night when I got home I told you that you were moving today, and Xiaoyu insisted that she move in today too. So today I could only let her eat something near the school for lunch while I was busy moving.”

Li Guizhi patted her hand, "Then you go ahead and do your work. I'll cook, and you can come over and eat later."

Xu Feng smiled and nodded in agreement, "Oh, here comes the benefit of moving!"

Jiang Xiaoli didn't sit idle either; she unpacked and sorted the large bundles she had moved from the old house one by one.

Fortunately, it was a move-in ready situation, so I didn't bring much and was settled in quickly.

Li Guizhi finished cooking and went to the neighbor's house to call Xu Feng.

The three sat down at the dining table, and Li Guizhi raised her glass with a smile, "This is our first meal in our new home, let's have a toast."

Jiang Xiaoli raised her glass and clinked it with the two of them, saying, "To our new life."

Xu Feng also smiled and said, "Yes, we'll listen to Xiao Li and toast to our new life."

In the afternoon, Li Guizhi was helping Xu Feng tidy up her things at her house when several workers came in. "We're here to install a landline phone."

Li Guizhi looked at her daughter, Jiang Xiaoli, who had come out to see what was happening, and Jiang Xiaoli shook her head at her, "I haven't had time to make an appointment yet."

Xu Feng held her hand and said, "Oh, it was my husband who made the reservation. Xiao Li is a boss now, and it's inconvenient for her to carry a mobile phone while she's still in school. It's always good to have a landline at home!"

Upon hearing this, Jiang Xiaoli welcomed the installation technician in, "Sir, how much does it cost to install a landline phone?"

While working, the foreman answered her, "The initial installation fee is 4,500 yuan. Since you cut in line, it will probably be more expensive!"

She couldn't help but gasp; this was incredibly expensive!

After the technician finished installing and debugging, she called Zong Jiayu's office at the food factory.

"Hello, who is this?" The other end of the line answered quickly.

Jiang Xiaoli deliberately lowered her voice and said, "Congratulations on winning a 29-inch color TV! You only need to spend 199 yuan to claim it. Would you like to claim it?"

Zong Jia's clear and pleasant laughter came through the phone, "Little Pear? Where is this phone number?"

She pursed her lips, "Your ears are pretty sharp! This is the new landline phone we installed at home, write down the number."

"Okay, so you and your godmother have already moved in?" Zong Jia asked.

Jiang Xiaoli replied, "Yeah, I happen to be free these days, why don't you move in soon too?"

Zong Jiayu thought for a moment and said, "Okay, I'll go back to the steamed bun shop today to pack up and move there tomorrow."

"Alright, that's settled then. I was just testing the phone. I'm hanging up now."

After Li Guizhi saw her finish the phone call, she asked, "When is Xiao Zong moving in?"

Jiang Xiaoli nestled back on the sofa. "Tomorrow, he went back today to pack his things."

In the afternoon, Xiao Jincheng picked up his daughter and took her home.

Upon seeing her, Xiao Muyu couldn't help but complain, "Two days of exams in a row, my brain is about to go numb, and there's another day tomorrow, oh my god!"

Jiang Xiaoli couldn't help but touch her nose, "It'll be better next year."

Xiao Muyu frowned. "Next year? Why?"

Xiao Jincheng chuckled and patted his daughter's head. "You'll be choosing your majors next year, right? Now you won't have to take many exams, will you?"

"Oh, right, haha, I've been so confused by the exams these past two days."

In the afternoon, Xu Feng and Li Guizhi went to the market to buy groceries. When they returned, the two of them showed off their culinary skills and cooked a table full of delicious food.

Jiang Xiaoli patted her round belly, "It seems the only hidden danger of moving is that I might gain weight!"

Xu Feng pinched her arm, "You really need to gain some weight, look how thin you are now."

Xiao Muyu couldn't help but put her arm next to hers for comparison, "I feel like I should be the one controlling my diet, I can't eat and drink like this every day."

Xiao Jincheng looked at the two girls disapprovingly, "You are at the age where you are developing, and you have such heavy study loads every day. You should eat and drink as you please. We don't follow that dieting thing!"

Li Guizhi nodded in agreement, "That's right, we can't cook this many dishes every day. From now on, a normal diet will be fine. Xiaoli, have you forgotten that you still want to grow taller? You must make sure you get enough nutrition!"

Reminded by her, Jiang Xiaoli immediately stood up and started spinning around in the room.

Xiao Muyu found it strange, "What are you doing?"

"I need to find a place to record my height!"

She fixed her gaze on the door frame between the living room and the balcony. "Mom! Where's our measuring tape? I need to measure my height!"
