Chapter 218 Applying for Day School

When Jiang Xiaoli returned to the dormitory after breakfast, everyone was already getting up.

After washing up and eating breakfast, Hu Jingxin said, "Xiao Li, you're amazing! You even have the habit of getting up early for a morning run."

"Yeah, I'm used to it."

Jiang Xiaoli sat to the side looking very distressed. It was alright now that the weather wasn't too cold, but it would be too difficult once it got cold and she couldn't wash herself in the bathroom after running.

It seems I should apply to go home as soon as possible.

Today is the first day of school. The main tasks are class meetings for each class, distributing textbooks, and a series of other miscellaneous tasks.

Jiang Xiaoli and Hu Jingxin followed Ren Zhiyi to the classroom.

There were about ten students sitting in the classroom, all in small groups, and they all seemed to be from the same dormitory.

By 9 o'clock, almost everyone had arrived in the classroom. There were two classes in Business Administration, and their class had about 30 people.

A young man in his thirties entered the classroom right on time and smiled at his classmates.

"Hello everyone, I am your counselor, my name is Fang Yong. During your four years at school, if you encounter any problems in your studies or life, you can come to me at any time, and I will do my best to help you solve them."

Hu Jingxin muttered to herself, "Why do all the teachers say the same things on the first day of school? There's nothing new about it."

Ren Zhiyi chimed in, "Yeah, I thought things would be a little different in college."

Jiang Xiaoli chuckled to herself; the two of them were thinking quite a lot.

After Fang Yong finished introducing himself, he waved the roster in his hand. "Alright, now that I've introduced myself, everyone should introduce themselves so that I can get to know my classmates. Who wants to go first?"

Fang Yong looked expectantly into the classroom, but no one responded. He didn't mind. "Since no one is going to step forward, I'll just call out names from the list. First one, Jiang Xiaoli."

Jiang Xiaoli thought that since her name started with J, she wouldn't be ranked first, but it turned out that the order of the names on the roster was a bit messy.

She stood up, walked to the podium, and introduced herself.

"Hello everyone, my name is Jiang Xiaoli, and I come from Qin Province. I am very happy to be classmates with you all during my precious university years. I hope that in the next four years, we can grow together and change the world."

She bowed, and applause erupted in the classroom.

One of the boys laughed and exclaimed, "I'm so happy to be classmates with an international champion!"

"Hahaha." Laughter immediately filled the classroom.

Fang Yong smiled and gestured for Jiang Xiaoli to return to her seat. "I'm sure many of you have heard of or even participated in the Mathematical Olympiad. Jiang, a student in our class, is this year's gold medalist in the Mathematical Olympiad, and one of only two students to achieve a perfect score. I was very happy to find out she was in my class."

Amidst laughter and chatter, the atmosphere in the classroom became lively, and soon everyone stood up and introduced themselves one after another.

An hour later, Fang Yong tapped on the lectern, "These past few days have passed since you registered, and you've all gotten to know each other. We'll hold a class meeting in a week to elect class officers."

Let's get down to business first. Tomorrow is our school's opening ceremony for this year, and our class's seating is... Everyone, please bring your own little stools when you arrive tomorrow.

"Now, all the boys in our class, come out with me. You all need to bring our textbooks back."

The class had a fairly even male-to-female ratio, and now half the classroom was empty, with the remaining girls starting to chat.

The most discussed topic was what type of club to join.

Hu Jingxin asked, "Xiao Li, Zhi Yi, what clubs are you interested in?"

Jiang Xiaoli shook her head. "I haven't thought about it. I'll see how it goes and decide later."

She has so many hobbies that she can't really pick out her favorite one right away.

Ren Zhiyi thought for a moment, "I want to join the student council, but I've heard it's quite difficult to join."

Hu Jingxin nodded repeatedly, "Me too, Zhiyi, how about we sign up together?"

She even tried to pull Jiang Xiaoli along, saying, "Xiaoli, if you don't know what to join, why don't you join me and Zhiyi?"

Jiang Xiaoli shook her head. "I'm not interested in the student council."

Although she didn't know what she wanted to join, she was very interested in what organizations she didn't want to join.

Many people think that joining the student council can develop various skills, but she doesn't need any of those.

Jiang Xiaoli had already decided before enrolling that she didn't need to think about anything else at school; studying and having fun would be enough, and she would politely decline any troublesome matters.

Seeing her determination, Hu Jingxin stopped trying to persuade her.

Ren Zhiyi seemed to suddenly remember something, and she suddenly covered her mouth and whispered, "Have you guys ever looked at our Peking University's BBS?"

Jiang Xiaoli and the other woman shook their heads at the same time.

Hu Jingxin asked curiously, "What is BBS?"

Ren Zhiyi explained to her, "A BBS is an online forum where people can post and exchange ideas. The BBS at Peking University discusses things related to our school."

Hu Jingxin nodded. "I don't know much about computers. What do people discuss on the BBS at Peking University?"

Jiang Xiaoli was also a little curious. She had gotten used to life without the internet and hadn't really thought about checking out the school's forums or anything like that.

Ren Zhiyi revealed to them, "The hottest post recently is about our beautiful senior from Guanghua School being rejected by a genius from Tsinghua University's Computer Science Department."

Jiang Xiaoli sensed something was off and pressed, "Zhiyi, can you explain in more detail?"

Seeing her gossip, Ren Zhi smiled and said, "You've come to the right place to ask me about this! I saw on the BBS that a senior from Guanghua is pursuing a top student from Huaqing University. He's been lukewarm at first, but then... he's suddenly very interested!"
