Chapter 237 The Talkative Zhong Yuan

Hu Jingxin suddenly blurted out, "Xiao Li, you're amazing! I feel a lot of pressure from my dad telling me to study hard so I can inherit his company. You're really a role model for me."

Instantly, all three of their eyes were fixed on her.

Chang Yue took a deep breath, "Today was so exciting! Xin Xin, which big company does your family own?"

Hu Jingxin smiled gently, her eyebrows curving upwards. "My family is in the daily chemical business, and 'Star Beauty' is my father's company's latest flagship product."

Jiang Xiaoli raised an eyebrow. She had seen the "Xingyan" counter when she went to buy skincare products last time.

Ren Zhiyi looked at Jiang Xiaoli, then at Hu Jingxin.

She hugged Chang Yue and said, "Xiao Yue, we've fallen into a group of rich people!"

Chang Yue pushed her away and hugged herself, "Zhiyi, your family has so many antiques, but I'm the only one who has truly fallen into the ranks of the rich!"

Jiang Xiaoli watched their act with a smile, "Alright, I didn't talk about 'Jiang Li Ji' in the dorm because I felt it wasn't necessary to be so ostentatious at school. But since you've both come to my house, I don't think I need to hide it from you. It's such a rare coincidence that we're in the same dorm."

Hu Jingxin immediately nodded like a chick pecking at rice, "Yes, yes, that's what my dad said too."

Chang Yue chuckled. "Xin Xin, I've noticed you always seem to be saying what my dad says. Doesn't your mom care about you?"

Hu Jingxin rolled her eyes and thought for a moment, "That's really true. My mom is like an empress dowager in my family. She only needs to look beautiful. Housework and cooking are all done by the nanny. My dad is in charge of managing the company and me."

Ren Zhiyi was shocked by her family's situation, "Your mother must be a princess!"

Jiang Xiaoli recalled the woman who stood behind the Hu family father and daughter on the day she registered for school, and didn't say much.

She exclaimed, "Xin Xin's mother is indeed very beautiful. I saw her when I registered for the job. If it weren't specifically mentioned, you probably wouldn't guess that she's her mother; you'd probably think she's her older sister or something."

Chang Yue had a look of realization on her face. "Xin Xin, no wonder your dad said you should find someone... Waaah..."

Jiang Xiaoli guessed what she was going to say and quickly covered her mouth.

She whispered, "I haven't told my mom about my boyfriend yet!"

Chang Yue nodded repeatedly before Jiang Xiaoli finally let go of her hand.

She continued, "No wonder your dad said that, that's exactly what he did. He spoiled you and your mom like princesses."

Hu Jingxin nodded with a smile, "Yes, so I think he's right!"

The four of them were chatting happily when the doorbell rang.

Jiang Xiaoli opened the door and let Zong Jia and Zhong Yuan in. "You two are back. My roommate is coming over for dinner today."

Zong Jiayu glanced towards the living room, then hesitated before asking, "Shall we go back and get something to eat?"

Zhong Yuan pushed him into the house, "Brother Zong, with our cooking skills, we're only good for eating out. Auntie must have prepared a meal for us, and if we go back, there will be leftovers!"

Hearing the commotion, Li Guizhi came out of the kitchen. She smiled and said, "Xiao Yuan is right. I prepared a lot of food today. These girls can't eat much. Don't leave."

So Jiang Xiaoli led them to the living room. "They are my fellow townsmen, business partners, and neighbors. His name is Zong Jiayu, and his name is Zhong Yuan."

Then she introduced each of her roommates one by one.

The girls watched her go back and forth introducing things, trying not to laugh. Chang Yue tugged at her hand, "Okay, we'll get to know each other after chatting. Please sit down."

Zhong Yuan was even more talkative than usual, and he chatted happily with the three of them all by himself.

Jiang Xiaoli was stunned. She glanced at Zong Jia and whispered, "What good thing happened to Brother Yuan today? Why are you in such a good mood?"

Zong Jia glanced at Zhong Yuan, who was beaming with joy, and said, "Maybe good things have started happening since I got home."

She suddenly remembered Zhong Yuan's criteria for choosing a partner, and she understood.

He then began to observe that his three roommates were all quite talkative, but Zhong Yuan always steered the conversation toward Hu Jingxin.

The more she looked at it, the more interesting it became, and she still felt a little unsatisfied even when Li Guizhi called her from the kitchen to bring out the dishes.

Li Guizhi put in a lot of effort today and cooked a total of 12 dishes.

Chang Yue was stunned when she saw the table full of dishes. "This is too lavish!"

Hu Jingxin swallowed hard. "They all look so delicious."

After arranging the dishes, Li Guizhi took off her apron and sat down by the table. "I just asked Xiaoli where you are from and what kind of food you like. I made a few dishes for you. Try them and see if they suit your taste."

Jiang Xiaoli looked at her mother and said with a smile, "Try it quickly, and remember to give an honest review. Today can be considered a tasting session for my mother's private kitchen."

Hearing her say that, everyone started eating.

Chang Yue pointed to the sweet and sour pork and said, "Auntie, the sweet and sour pork you made tastes just like the century-old brand in Jinan. It's so delicious."

Ren Zhiyi pointed to the shredded pork with sweet bean sauce and said, "Auntie, you made this dish really authentically."

Jiang Xiaoli turned to look at Hu Jingxin, only to find that she was engrossed in eating.

She poured her a glass of water. "Xin Xin, eat slowly. Which dish do you like best?"

Hu Jingxin swallowed the food in her mouth. "Auntie, your cooking is amazing! I really can't choose. I love every single dish!"

Li Guizhi smiled broadly upon hearing her words, "I'm glad you like it. There's plenty of food today, so please try as much as you like."

Zhong Yuan was sitting next to Hu Jingxin. Was he using serving chopsticks to pick up the dishes that were farther away from Hu Jingxin?

Hu Jingxin kept thanking him.

Jiang Xiaoli watched their interaction with a smile in her eyes.

In the end, the seven of them actually finished all 12 dishes.

Chang Yue clutched her stomach and leaned back in her dining chair, not wanting to move. "The last time I ate this much was when I went back to my hometown with my mom for a wedding banquet."

Ren Zhiyi's eyes lit up, and she reached out to give Chang Yue a high five. "Me too, me too! Last time a distant relative of mine got married, they had a banquet with endless streams of food, and it was so delicious!"

Hu Jingxin looked at the chat. She was the most seriously ill. She was so full that she didn't even want to talk.

Li Guizhi looked at the children with concern, "I'll give you some digestive tablets, try them and see how it goes."

Jiang Xiaoli chuckled to herself, "The digestive tablets my mom prepared for me have finally come in handy."

Zhong Yuan scratched his head and apologized to Hu Jingxin, "I'm sorry, I just wanted to make sure you ate well, but I didn't expect you to eat so much."

Hu Jingxin waved her hand, "This has nothing to do with you, it's just that I can't control my mouth."

Jiang Xiaoli and Zong Jiayu's eyes met in mid-air, and they both understood what the other meant.

After resting for a while and taking some digestive tablets, the three of them felt much better.

Ren Zhiyi checked the time. "Let's go back to the dorm first. We can walk around and digest our food."
