When Zhong Yuan returned to Kyoto with Hu Jingxin, he was stuffed with bags and packages.
Mr. and Mrs. Hu said warmly, "Yuan, your trip to Shanghai this time was too rushed. Take these things back and share them with your friends. Next time you come to Shanghai, your uncle and aunt will treat you well!"
Zhong Yuan, holding Hu Jingxin's hand, said with a smile, "Uncle and Aunt, you don't need to be so polite. From now on, Shanghai is my home too. Why should I need to be entertained when I come home?"
His words made the two of them feel very comfortable. Mr. Hu smiled and patted his shoulder, "Ah Yuan is so sensible!"
On the plane back to Kyoto, Hu Jingxin looked at him with admiration, "A Yuan, you're really amazing! Do you know how picky my mom is when it comes to people?"
Zhong Yuan raised an eyebrow smugly, "So, how about it? Doesn't your man have some skills?"
Hu Jingxin lightly punched his chest. "Don't think you can be arrogant just because my parents have accepted you. My opinion is the most important!"
“Yes, yes, yes.” Zhong Yuan squeezed her fist and punched his chest twice. “Of course, my little princess Xin Xin’s opinion is the most important.”
Hu Jingxin said shyly, "Who's your family? You shameless thing!"
Zhong Yuan held her little hand confidently and said, "Sorry, I forgot. From now on, I belong to Xin Xin's family."
Hu Jingxin was amused by his shameless behavior. "Are you really willing to marry into my family?"
"So what? Home is wherever you are."
Suddenly, as if he had just realized something, he looked at Hu Jingxin with a look of horror, "Your family won't mistreat your son-in-law, will they? I'm very easy to take care of, I just need two steamed buns a day!"
As he continued talking incoherently, Hu Jingxin turned her head away in a huff to look at the clouds.
Zhong Yuan poked her puffed-up cheek. "Little darling, are you angry? Otherwise, I'll just eat one steamed bun."
Hu Jingxin was annoyed by him and grabbed his hand and bit it. "No food, no food! When you come to my house, you only work and don't eat. I'm just teaching you a lesson for your glib tongue."
"Haha, it's okay, I can survive on dew, as long as Xin Xin doesn't leave me."
Hu Jingxin cautiously glanced at the reactions of those around her, and only spoke up after realizing that everyone was busy with their own things, "People will laugh at us if they hear you doing this!"
"How could that be! We're just being affectionate!" Zhong Yuan waved his hand dismissively. "Anyone who laughs at us must be single!"
They chatted and the rest of the flight time passed quickly.
Jiang Xiaoli and Ren Zhiyi came to pick him up at the airport. When she saw the large bags Zhong Yuan was carrying, she smiled and said, "It's not easy for you, Brother Yuan, to remember to bring us souvenirs when you go out?"
"Tsk tsk tsk, so superficial!"
Zhong Yuan snapped his fingers, "Dude, I didn't spend a single penny on any of this!"
Hu Jingxin smiled and said, "Xiao Li, these were all prepared by my parents. They really like A Yuan."
Jiang Xiaoli's eyes widened in disbelief. "Brother Yuan, how did you do that?!"
"Ahem." Zhong Yuan coughed lightly twice, making a fist with his right hand and placing it under his nose. "To be honest, I earned this happiness by selling myself!"
On the way home, Jiang Xiaoli listened to Zhong Yuan's experiences over the past two days, and she laughed and kept slapping the steering wheel.
"Brother Yuan, that move of yours was absolutely amazing!"
After dropping Hu Jingxin off at school, Ren Zhiyi accompanied her back to her dorm to pack her things, while Jiang Xiaoli went home with Zhong Yuan.
Today is Sunday, and Zongjia and Hedafu are at home waiting to hear Zhongyuan tell his "adventures in pursuit of love".
Now that he was back in his familiar home, Zhong Yuan was much more relaxed than he had been in the car.
He spoke vividly and animatedly for over an hour.
"On my first day in Shanghai, Xin Xin's mother didn't even want to see me. You didn't see it, but when we left today, all these gifts were prepared for me by my future mother-in-law. You tell me, isn't my brother awesome!"
Dafu couldn't help but applaud him, "To be honest, I still have to learn a lot from you when it comes to shamelessness."
Zhong Yuan gave him a look that said, "Next time you visit your father-in-law in Shandong Province, I'll give you some advice!"
Jiang Xiaoli leaned against Zong Jia and laughed loudly, "Brother Yuan, your success story isn't very widespread. After all, Brother Dafu doesn't have to agree to Xiaoyue's parents marrying into the Chang family."
Dafu suddenly realized, "That's right! If Xiaoli hadn't mentioned it, I would have completely forgotten about this premise. My good brother has finally gotten to live off a woman. That's great."
Zhong Yuan didn't care about their teasing at all. "You guys are just jealous. There are many ways to Rome. As long as I can be with Xin Xin, I'll go to her door if I want, right, Brother Zong!"
Zong Jia raised an eyebrow. "You're asking me what I mean?"
Zhong Yuan was very bold today, "Brother Zong, if you ask me, what you're doing is not much different from coming to someone's door. We're like brothers, one big brother and one small brother!"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Xiaoli put her arm around Zong Jiayu's shoulder and said, "Little Zong, if you come and help our Jiang family continue its lineage, you'll be richly rewarded!"
Zong Jiayu became interested. "What reward?"
"That's a bit too pragmatic, isn't it? Your moment of truth has arrived!"
Zong Jia chuckled twice, "Alright, from now on I'll be a member of the Jiang family in life and in death."
Zhong Yuan raised his chin at Da Fu and said, "Fu Zi, look at Zong Ge's awareness! You should learn from him!"
Dafu rolled his eyes at him. "Believe it or not, I'll repeat what you said to my dad, and you won't be able to step foot in my house next Chinese New Year."
Zhong Yuan couldn't help but rub the goosebumps on his arm as he imagined the scene. He muttered under his breath, "How old are you? Why are you still tattling? Really!"
After joking around for a while, Dafu asked, "What are we going to do for dinner tonight?"
Aunt Zhang hasn't returned to Kyoto yet, and these past few days, the group has been agonizing over this every mealtime.
When Zhong Yuan returned today, he suggested, "I think the Peking University cafeteria is pretty good."
Dafu kicked him, "You just got back from Shanghai, can't you tone it down a bit?"
Zhong Yuan chuckled, "Fu Zi, now I really understand why you got a meal card at Peking University before. It's really nice to have someone to eat with!"
Seeing his smug smile, Jiang Xiaoli retorted, "Our school should really crack down on people like you who aren't officially part of the school's student body!"
Zhong Yuan let her words go in one ear and out the other. Now he was muttering to himself, "Little Pear, tomorrow morning, please take my favorite pig's trotters that I specially saved to Xin Xin! I was just introducing them to her on the plane, and I'm sure she'll love them!"
As soon as he said that, the eyes of the other three people in the room became somewhat unfocused.
Zhong Yuan immediately sensed something was wrong. He rushed to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator.
The place where he used to put the pig's trotters is now occupied by other things.
He returned to the living room, his eyes darting back and forth between the three "suspects".
He roared in despair, "Who did this! Step forward!"
