Chapter 353 Lack of Popular Support

When the three of them arrived home, Zhong Yuan and Da Fu were strolling back from outside carrying a large bag of packaged barbecue.

Li Guizhi asked, "Haven't you eaten yet?"

Zhong Yuan nodded. "Yes, Aunt Zhang quit. We tried to keep her for several days but couldn't find a suitable replacement."

"You're quitting?" Li Guizhi frowned.

Jiang Xiaoli explained to her mother about Aunt Zhang taking care of her pregnant daughter-in-law. Her mother nodded and said, "Alright, I'll find you another one. You guys are always running around, you probably don't know anyone who does housekeeping."

Zhong Yuan breathed a sigh of relief. "Auntie, if you ask me, it's all thanks to you! Our lives can only get back on track when you come back!"

Li Guizhi said with a smile, "Alright, stop flattering me. Is this little bit of barbecue enough for you? Or should I get you something else?"

Jiang Xiaoli was starving. "Mom, I wish I could have a bowl of noodles made with love right now!"

Zhong Yuan quickly followed, "Me too!"

Dafu and Zongjia both raised their hands.

Li Guizhi returned home, put down her things, and went into the kitchen to cook.

They set up a barbecue table outside, and Zhong Yuan teased Dafu, "Fuzi, you're also Auntie's last apprentice, why didn't you think of making us a bowl of noodles earlier?"

Dafu rolled his eyes at him. "You, a starving ghost, couldn't even remember, and you expect me to?"

Jiang Xiaoli smiled and looked at him, "Brother Yuan, didn't you go to see a movie with Xin Xin today? How come you didn't even get to have dinner?"

Zhong Yuan sighed, "Don't even mention it! After we finished watching the movie, I was just about to take Xin Xin out for Peking duck when Yan Chengcheng called her away with a single phone call!"

"Haha!" Jiang Xiaoli said gloatingly, "Tsk tsk, Brother Yuan, do you know what this means?"

Zhong Yuan took a bite of the roasted chicken wing and asked, "Huh?"

"Your public support isn't good enough!" she said, taking a sip of her drink. "If you had done a good job with Chengcheng, how could she have called someone away at the last minute during your date?"

"Hey!" Zhong Yuan chewed his food, pondering carefully, "That really makes sense!"

Dafu, standing nearby, also looked like he'd learned something, "That makes sense!"

They discussed it with her and said, "Little Pear, it's the weekend, how about the three of us treat you and your girlfriends to dinner tomorrow? Would you do us the honor?"

Jiang Xiaoli smiled slyly, "Oh, you're quite good at applying what you've learned! Then this meal will have to be a bit more upscale!"

Zhong Yuan patted his chest and assured him, "Absolutely! It has to be high-class! Little Li, just tell me where you want to eat, and I'll figure out a table right now!"

She thought for a moment, "What's the use of you just telling me? The main thing is Chengcheng and Zhiyi!"

Dafu immediately urged Zhong Yuan, "Call your Xin Xin and have her ask Cheng Cheng. I'll have Yue Yue ask Zhi Yi."

The two split up and quickly finalized the dinner arrangements for tomorrow night.

Jiang Xiaoli sighed softly, "I was just saying I was going to sleep in tomorrow, but it looks like it's going to be another busy day."

Zong Jiayu came out of the kitchen carrying two bowls of noodles. "Don't make any plans for the day after tomorrow. Just stay home and rest well."

Li Guizhi nodded, "That's right. Take a good rest on Sunday, and go back to school refreshed on Monday to report back from leave. In your university, taking leave will result in a deduction of points, won't it have an impact?"

Jiang Xiaoli waved her hand, "It's okay, I get along well with all my teachers!"

(Note: Apart from Professor Dou, who teaches advanced mathematics, Comrade Dou has not given up on trying to persuade her to transfer to the mathematics department.)

Early Saturday morning, Jiang Xiaoli accompanied Li Guizhi to visit Yang Guang's home, leaving her to chat with Chen Ting while she rushed off to the company.

Li Anting is waiting downstairs at the company! She rushed me here!

Jiang Xiaoli smiled slightly at her, "This office is rented by us. I bought a building near the North Third Ring Road. We'll move there after we finish the exterior and interior decoration."

Li Anting nodded. "You mean the building in Sanhua, right? President Jiang, you have excellent taste. Buying that office building is definitely a good investment."

She was so good at flattering him that she felt the position of assistant belonged to Li Anting!

When they arrived at the company, there were only a handful of people at the "Jiang Group" – a few administrative staff. After introducing Li Anting to them, Jiang Xiaoli took her to "Jiang Li Ji" to meet with several managers.

Li Anting spoke very little throughout, and kept taking notes in a small notebook.

Jiang Xiaoli glanced at it and laughed, "You've studied shorthand?"

The scribbles in her notebook were only legible to herself.

Li Anting smiled and said, "Yes, I've learned a little bit, just for the sake of work."

After strolling around the company for a bit, Jiang Xiaoli clapped her hands and said, "That's all for today. I'll be resting at home tomorrow and probably won't contact you. Come to Peking University to see me on Monday; I have something to tell you."

"Okay," Li Anting nodded in agreement.

After quickly resolving these matters, Jiang Xiaoli returned to Yang Guang's house to bring Li Guizhi home, and then smoothly took off her clothes and went to bed.

Li Guizhi was speechless at her actions. "Are you that sleep-deprived? Lunch is almost ready!"

She buried her head in the blanket, saying, "You eat with Zongjia and the others, don't worry about me!"

That's what she said, but she only slept for half an hour before being woken up by the tantalizing aroma of food wafting over.

She ruffled her messy hair, slipped on her slippers, and leaned against the kitchen doorframe, complaining, "Mom, all I said was I wasn't going to eat lunch, why did you have to make so many of your best dishes to tempt me?"

Li Guizhi glanced at her, "I didn't make any for you, these are all the dishes Xiao Yuan and the others ordered!"

Zhong Yuan was already sitting at the dining table waiting. Looking at Jiang Xiaoli's appearance, he teased, "Little Li, you really don't treat us like outsiders. You could hatch an egg in your hair!"

Zong Jiayu smiled and tidied her hair for her. "Don't listen to him, it looks good!"

Zhong Yuan clutched his head and wailed, "Brother Zong, when did you go blind?! Is this what they mean by 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'?!"

Jiang Xiaoli pouted and snorted at Zhong Yuan, "Brother Yuan, you've lost my friendship today!"

Thinking about the dinner party that evening, Zhong Yuan suddenly chuckled, "Little Pear, our relationship isn't such that you'd get angry over a few words!"

His response was a messy back of a head.

Jiang Xiaoli turned around and went to wash up!

A short while later, Li Guizhi set the food on the table, and Zhong Yuan couldn't help but sigh, "Although Fu Zi's surname is Fu, he really has no good fortune. I'll take care of this big meal for him today!"

Dafu received a call early in the morning and went to the breeding farm that was cooperating with the Kyoto branch of "Jiang Li Ji" to discuss matters.

Just as he finished speaking, the doorbell rang, and Dafu entered right on time.
