Chapter 40: Happy New Car Acquisition

Xiao Muyu was pulled all the way to the parking shed by her. When she heard that she was no longer skipping grades, she happily hugged her and spun her around, "That's great!"

Jiang Xiaoli struggled to break free from her embrace. "I want to go shopping for clothes this weekend, do you want to come?"

Xiao Muyu's eyes practically lit up when she heard this; she had been looking forward to her date with Jiang Xiaoli's best friend for a long time!

She nodded vigorously, "Okay, okay!"

Overjoyed, she rode her bike to take Jiang Xiaoli home before leaving.

Watching that cheerful figure disappear into the distance, Jiang Xiaoli couldn't help but smile.

It's so wonderful to have such a friendship after being reborn!

She turned and went into the courtyard. Li Guizhi looked behind her and said, "I just heard Xiaoyu's voice. Why are you alone?"

"Xiaoyu just brought me back. She went home because she had a lot of homework."

Li Guizhi thought for a moment after hearing this, "I rarely use a bicycle now, how about you ride it to school? Or should I buy you a smaller one?"

Jiang Xiaoli had just thought about buying a bicycle; the one with the crossbar at home wasn't very flattering for her current height.

Thinking about the family's current savings, she asked Li Guizhi, "Mom, I want a 26-inch car. I also made plans to go shopping for clothes with Xiaoyu this weekend. I'd like to apply for some funds."

Li Guizhi agreed without hesitation, "No problem! Let's eat first, and after we eat I'll go and bring back that car you liked before! I'll give you money to buy clothes this weekend."

Jiang Xiaoli clung to her arm and said sweetly, "There's no one better than Mom in the world!"

After finishing her meal, Li Guizhi happily went inside to get money to buy a bicycle. Not long after she left, Jiang Xiao finished washing the dishes, and Zong Jiayu arrived.

Upon seeing the familiar envelope, she smiled and poured him a glass of cool water.

Zong Jia sat down, took a sip of water, and handed her the envelope. "5255 yuan for these three days."

She took the envelope, opened it, and counted out ten 100-yuan bills. "This thousand is for the steamed bun shop. How's the cleaning up going over there?"

After putting the money away, Zong Jiayu reported on the progress: "Most of the things have been ordered. We tidied up the house today, and tomorrow we'll call a contractor to add two more stoves, and that should be about it."

"How much did it cost? Oh, and since we're operating legally, remember to get a business license," Jiang Xiaoli instructed.

Zong Jia and Xiao Xiao said, "Including the stove, it's less than 300 yuan. Don't worry, Pumpkin has already gone to apply for the business license today."

Just then, Li Guizhi returned on a brand-new bicycle. It had a milky-white frame and a brown rattan frame in the front, and it looked very exquisite.

"Xiao Zong is here. What do you think of this car?" she asked as she parked the car.

Zong Jia looked at the car and then at Jiang Xiaoli, "It suits Xiaoli very well."

Li Guizhi said happily, "I think so too! By the way, Xiao Zong, tell Nan Gua to come over tomorrow. I'll teach him how to make steamed buns. I've almost finished writing down the filling recipe today."

Jiang Xiaoli became interested upon hearing this, "Mom, isn't the method I taught you good?"

"Isn't this the only way we can do it?"

Li Guizhi smiled and told Zong Jiayu about the clumsy method Jiang Xiaoli had come up with for writing out the recipe.

Zong Jiayu praised, "This is no stupid method; as long as it works, it's a good method."

That evening, only the mother and daughter were at home. Jiang Xiaoli told Li Guizhi about the exam she took at school that day.

Li Guizhi patted the back of her head and said, "Your teachers are all very good. Study hard and make me and your father proud, and also make these teachers proud."

"Okay, I know. By the way, Mom, could you wake me up earlier tomorrow?"

Li Guizhi was puzzled. Her daughter, who never seemed to get enough sleep, suddenly wanted to get up early.

What are you going to do when you get up early?

Jiang Xiaoli wrinkled her nose. "I heard that if you drink milk, you should pay attention to your diet and exercise more to grow taller. I plan to start jogging in the morning starting tomorrow."

Li Guizhi did not object to her daughter's desire to grow taller; she ordered milk for her when her daughter asked for it.

But when her daughter said she wanted to go for a morning run, she didn't believe her. "You can get up, but can you even do that?"

Jiang Xiaoli was very determined this time, "Mom, if I refuse to get up, just pull off my blanket!"

"Alright, let's see how many days you can last."

The next morning at 6 o'clock.

"Xiaoli, Xiaoli, get up!"

Jiang Xiaoli struggled to open her eyes, suddenly adjusting her biological clock. She was a little dazed. "Mom, what time is it?"

"It's 6 o'clock. If you want to go for a run, you'd better get up now. You said you'd let me pull off the covers if you didn't get up!" Li Guizhi said with a smile as she sat on the edge of her bed.

She struggled to her feet, soaked a towel in some cold water, wrung it out, and wiped her face a few times.

When Li Guizhi saw this, she wanted to add some hot water for her, but she stopped her, saying, "No need, Mom, cold water will clear my head."

After washing up, she put on her shoes and ran along the street to a park near her home.

There were quite a few people doing morning exercises, and several people who were already sweating profusely brushed past her.

Estimating the distance, she ran about five kilometers back home, plopped down on a small stool in the main room, and gasped for breath.

When Aunt Yang, who was working at her house, saw her, she said, "Little Pear, you're exercising so early in the morning?"

Jiang Xiaoli was panting, while Li Guizhi laughed and said, "She heard that exercise can make you grow taller, so now she's drinking milk and exercising. Let's see if she can grow taller."

Grandma Zhang kept working with her hands and joined the conversation, saying, "You and Weimin are both quite tall, so Xiaoli will definitely grow taller. There's no rush. It's good for the child to get some exercise!"

Li Guizhi nodded, "That's right, good health is what truly matters!"
