On the plane to Xi'an, Jiang Xiaoli turned her head to one side and gave the person serving her tea and water a cold look the whole time.
Zong Jia pulled out a White Rabbit milk candy from somewhere, unwrapped it, and put it to her lips. "Little Pear, have some candy."
Jiang Xiaoli glanced at Naitang and grumbled, "Slap me and then give me a sweet treat, take your sugar-coated bullets and get out of here!"
Zong Jia chuckled lightly, "Then I'll give it to Da Yuan, okay?"
Upon learning that the two of them were returning to Xi'an today, the rest of them eagerly wanted to go with them, like glue. Apart from Xiao Muyu, the other girls from last night's party, Zhong Yuan, and Dafu were also on the plane.
Upon hearing his name, Zhong Yuan immediately sat up straight and leaned forward, asking, "Give me what?"
Jiang Xiaoli angrily snatched the candy and stuffed it into her mouth, puffing out her cheeks as she said to Zhong Yuan, "Mine!"
Zhong Yuan was speechless. He said to Hu Jingxin next to him, "Xinxin, what did you two talk about last night? Look at her today, something's not right!"
Hu Jingxin and Yan Chengcheng, who were across the aisle, exchanged a glance and smiled. "Hehe, this is our secret!"
Upon landing in Xi'an, Yan Chengcheng, emboldened by her sisters, snatched Jiang Xiaoli from Zong Jiayu's hands.
Jiang Xiaoli and the others huddled together, and then they heard Chang Yue ask, "Xiaoli, has Zong Jiayu gone crazy again?"
She turned to look at Zong Jiayu, whose attention was focused on them, and retorted repeatedly, "No! No! You're overthinking it!"
Yan Chengcheng smiled knowingly, "Don't worry! We understand!"
Jiang Xiaoli was heartbroken and furious. What she said was true. She had been beaten six times that morning!
On the way to the city, she huddled in the corner of the back seat of the taxi, looking small, helpless, and pitiful.
It wasn't until Zong Jia led everyone to a decades-old shop to eat liangpi (cold skin noodles) and roujiamo (Chinese hamburger) that her soul returned to its place.
She ate a bite of cold noodles and a bite of roujiamo (Chinese hamburger), and every now and then she would take a sip of Bingfeng soda that Zong Jiayu handed her.
After eating and drinking her fill, she patted her stomach and said in Xi'an dialect, "Liao za lie!"
Several girls looked at her at the same time, and Ren Zhiyi asked, "Xiao Li, what does this dialect you're using mean?"
She snatched Zong Jiayu's soda, took another sip, and said, "It means very good, excellent."
After finishing her cold noodles, Hu Jingxin followed suit and said, "The ingredients are great!"
Her words made several native Xi'an residents burst out laughing. Zhong Yuan hugged her and said, "Xin Xin, it's fine if we speak Mandarin."
Hu Jingxin was confused. "What are you all laughing at? Did I learn something wrong?"
Jiang Xiaoli commented, "It's not that you learned it wrong, but rather that you developed a new language system, and you're all on your own."
Ren Zhiyi and the others laughed too, "Xin Xin, really don't push yourself!"
However, Hu Jingxin was a stubborn little girl. In the afternoon, as they were strolling and eating, she kept pulling Zhong Yuan to give her a small class of Xijing dialect lessons.
During dinner that evening, Hu Jingxin squeezed next to Jiang Xiaoli, proudly puffing out her chest and saying, "Please speak with me in Xijing dialect!"
Jiang Xiaoli looked at Zhong Yuan, but Zhong Yuan didn't dare to meet her gaze.
Holding a large bowl of mutton stew, she asked in Xijing dialect, "How many buns do you want?"
Then she heard Hu Jingxin raise one finger and say very confidently, "Eat a steamed bun when you're hungry."
"Pfft—" She didn't mean to laugh, but she really couldn't help it.
She asked, "Is this how Brother Yuan taught you?"
“Yes!” Hu Jingxin nodded very affirmatively.
Zhong Yuan smoothed things over, saying, "Xin Xin is still a beginner in Xi'an dialect, don't be so strict with her!"
Jiang Xiaoli suppressed a laugh and said, "Okay, sure."
Jiang Xiaoli enjoyed the meal and laughed along with Hu Jingxin's broken Xijing dialect.
The house hadn't been cleaned for a while, so they stayed at a hotel that night.
Yan Chengcheng shared a room with Hu Jingxin, Chang Yue shared a room with Ren Zhiyi, and Zhong Yuan shared a room with Dafu.
Jiang Xiaoli accused, "I suspect that we were ostracized, and I have evidence."
Yan Chengcheng said with a smile, "Have a wonderful evening!"
Hu Jingxin rubbed her eyes and yawned, "Yeah, oh dear, I didn't sleep much yesterday, and today I spent the whole day on a plane and shopping. Come on, let's go back to our room and sleep."
After saying that, she put her arm around Yan Chengcheng and left.
The others followed suit and went back to their rooms to rest.
Jiang Xiaoli tilted her head and said in a very proud tone, "I haven't forgiven you yet!"
Zong Jia chuckled softly, "Yes, I know."
Upon entering the room, Jiang Xiaoli paused for two seconds upon seeing the two beds.
She turned to look at Zong Jiayu, "Hmph! You don't want to sleep with me, and I don't want to sleep with you either!"
After saying that, she went into the bathroom to wash up and brush her teeth.
Zong Jia followed behind her innocently and said, "Would you believe me if I said we might have gotten the wrong room key from them?"
He was the one who checked in the room earlier; there were four rooms, three with twin beds and one with a double bed.
With her mouth full of toothpaste-soaked bread, Jiang Xiaoli said, "I think two beds are pretty good!"
Zong Jia hugged her from behind, saying, "Sleeping with Xiao Lizi, a single bed is enough."
"Gulp—" After spitting out the mouthwash, Jiang Xiaoli pushed him away. "I want to have the whole bed to myself, don't crowd me."
That night, the two of them lay on separate single beds.
Zong Jia called out, "Little Pear."
"what?"
He asked, "Are you cold?"
Jiang Xiaoli smiled, pursing her lips, "I'm not cold!"
Zong Jia sighed, "Sigh—"
Why are you sighing?
He said softly, "But I'm so cold."
Jiang Xiaoli burst into laughter in the darkness, but she still calmly said, "Stop pretending!"
Zong Jiayu didn't speak again, and after a while, the sound of his teeth chattering came from the room.
She asked suspiciously, "Are your teeth chattering from the cold? Then I'll ask the waiter to give you an extra blanket."
Just as she got up and stood between the two beds to call the hotel front desk, a large hand reached out from under the covers and pulled her back into its embrace.
The two of them squeezed onto a single bed. Jiang Xiaoli felt the warmth of the blankets and cursed, "You liar!"
Zong Jia hummed in agreement, "Even if I have to be a liar, I'll still bring Little Pear to my nest."
Jiang Xiaoli reached out and pinched his waist. "Cunning!"
Zong Jia gently patted her back, coaxing her, "Little Pear, be good, go to sleep."
Jiang Xiaoli mustered her strength, determined to fight him to the end.
But less than five minutes later, even breathing could be heard from Zong Jiayu's arms; she had fallen asleep.
