Chapter 512 The person I met was Chi Haiyao

At this point, Chi Haiyao sighed softly, "I tried many ways to mend my relationship with Jiayu, but I failed. I am insignificant in his world."

Jiang Xiaoli listened silently without any particular reaction.

Chi Haiyao chuckled softly, "I know you feel sorry for Jiayu and have a lot of opinions about me, I understand."

She picked up the soup bowl and took a sip. "I wouldn't call it an opinion. Ayu is past the age where he needs his mother to coax him. Since you know me, you should also know that he calls my mother 'godmother.' I've always believed that no matter what kind of relationship it is, it needs to be carefully maintained and managed. Blood ties don't mean anything."

“You’re right.” Chi Haiyao smiled slightly. “I noticed you as soon as you met Jia Yu. I think you’re a very insightful girl.”

After hearing the story, Jiang Xiaoli lowered her eyes and thought for a moment before deciding to be direct.

She asked, "I've known A-Yu for over three years and dated him for over a year. If you wanted to see me, there would have been many opportunities. Why did you choose now?"

Chi Haiyao didn't speak. She took out a document from her bag. "Jia Yu hasn't answered my calls for a long time. I have no choice. Can you give this to him for me?"

Jiang Xiaoli glanced at the two large characters on the first page of the document: 【Will】

She frowned and said, "Are you trying to improve the relationship between you and your son this way?"

Chi Haiyao smiled and shook her head. "How could that be? Apart from accepting some gifts from me when I first returned to China and went to find him, Jia Yu has never responded since. I know he doesn't care about these things."

Jiang Xiaoli asked, puzzled, "Are you trying to make things difficult for me?"

"Xiao Li, my time is running out. The person I have wronged the most in my life is Jia Yu. I have nothing to leave him but these things."

What do you mean?

“Malignant glioma.” Chi Haiyao said in a calm tone, as if she were talking about someone else’s business.

Jiang Xiaoli was unfamiliar with the term she was referring to, but she knew that any disease related to the brain was dangerous.

She couldn't help but advise, "No matter how serious the illness is, you should actively seek treatment."

Chi Haiyao smiled and waved her hand, "Whether it's 3 months or a year, it doesn't make much difference to me. I never fantasized about Jiayu forgiving a selfish mother, but this is really the last thing I can give him. Xiaoli, can you help me?"

Jiang Xiaoli fell silent. After an hour of interaction, her feelings towards Chi Haiyao were complicated.

After thinking for a long time, she said, "I'm sorry, I can't make the decision for A-Yu, but I will tell him what we talked about. He is an adult with his own judgment and can take responsibility for his choices."

Chi Haiyao originally wanted to offer some words of advice, but then she seemed to remember something else.

In the end, she only said one sentence, "Little Pear, thank you."

On the way back to the hotel from the restaurant, Jiang Xiaoli remained silent.

The atmosphere in the car was very tense. After hesitating for a long time, Zhu Han finally asked, "Chairman Jiang, is this matter very troublesome?"

Jiang Xiaoli was pulled back to reality by her voice. She shook her head and chuckled, "It's nothing, this important client is one of my—"

She thought for a long time but still couldn't find the right words to describe Chi Haiyao.

Zhu Han breathed a sigh of relief, "Oh, so it's your friend! That's wonderful! Your friend is so generous!"

Jiang Xiaoli simply smiled and remained silent.

On the way, she called Xiao Muyu and learned what malignant glioma was. She couldn't help but sigh at the unpredictability of life.

Back at the hotel, she gathered her thoughts and called Zong Jiayu.

The phone was answered after only two rings, and he sounded to be in a good mood. "Little Pear? What time is it...? Did you finish your business and go back to the hotel?"

She gave a soft "hmm" and then said, "The person I met was Chi Haiyao."

There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone before Zong Jia's cold voice came through, "Little Pear, I'm calling her and telling her not to bother you anymore."

Jiang Xiaoli stopped him, "Actually, they didn't bother me. We just had a meal and chatted together."

Zong Jiayu's tone began to sound a bit irritated, "No matter what, it's wrong of her to contact you!"

“Ayu,” Jiang Xiaoli called his name, “She’s sick, and it might be… incurable. Judging from her expression, she doesn’t want to get treatment anymore.”

“Impossible!” Zong Jiayu immediately denied. “A selfish person like her would cherish herself so much, how could she possibly have an incurable disease? She’s definitely lying to you, Little Pear, you must not believe her.”

Jiang Xiaoli could tell that although his words were a denial, his voice trembled slightly.

She said, "Ayu, come pick me up in Shanghai. Will you come and take me home?"

After a moment, a voice came from the phone, "Okay."

After hanging up the phone, Jiang Xiaoli called Zhong Yuan, "Brother Yuan, keep an eye on A Yu now, and stay by his side until he boards the plane."

Zhong Yuan was completely confused by her words, "Get on the plane? Where to?"

He said loudly, "Oh my, Little Pear, you're not going to have Brother Zong go to Shanghai to pick you up and take you back to Beijing, are you? Are you being too lovey-dovey?"

“A-Yu’s mother is in Shanghai. She’s sick and doesn’t have much time left,” Jiang Xiaoli said simply.

Zhong Yuan paused for a moment, then immediately became serious. He replied, "Little Pear, don't worry, I will definitely keep a close eye on Brother Zong. I'll go with him."

Jiang Xiaoli did not object, "That's fine, but the company's affairs need to be arranged properly."

"Yes, I know."

Zong Jia and Zhong Yuan arrived in Shanghai on the last flight of the day.

Jiang Xiaoli wrapped her scarf tighter around herself and approached them. "Let's go to the hotel first and rest for a bit today."

Zong Jia shook his head. "Little Pear, I want to see her."

She nodded and gave the driver an address, which Chi Haiyao had told her earlier that day.

At 11 p.m., they stood outside a garden villa and rang the doorbell.

After a while, a series of light footsteps hurriedly came and opened the door.

"It's so late at night, who are you looking for?" As soon as she finished speaking, Zong Jiayu's face came into view.

The middle-aged woman stammered, "Young Master?"

Zong Jia did not respond to her; his gaze met that of the woman who had just walked into the yard and was putting on her coat.

"Chi Haiyao, you're lying, aren't you?"

Chi Haiyao didn't answer his question. Instead, she said, "Jiayu, you've grown so much taller since the last time I saw you. That's great."
