After finishing their meal, the three chatted for a while, and then Li Guizhi went back to her room for a nap.
Zong Jia asked, "Have you finalized your investment promotion plan? Which country do you and Uncle Xiao plan to visit first?"
Jiang Xiaoli tore open a carton of yogurt and licked the lid. "You'll have to ask Uncle Xiao about that. What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, I was just asking casually."
She looked at him suspiciously, "You're not usually this gossipy."
Zong Jia held her hand that was holding the yogurt and brought it to his lips, taking a sip. "Hehe, can't I even ask about my wife's schedule?"
She wasn't in the mood to argue with him anymore. Looking at her half-empty cup of yogurt with a pained expression, she complained, "Your mouth is way too big!"
"Haha." Zong Jia pinched her cheek. "I'll go get you another box."
"No need to go," Jiang Xiaoli said, pouting. "This is the last box in the refrigerator; Aunt Tian hasn't had time to restock."
Zong Jiayu was taken aback for a moment, then sincerely suggested, "Then I'll go buy it now."
She thought for a moment and stood up. "Let's go together, just to digest after lunch."
They arrived at the supermarket closest to "Heyuan". Zong Jia pushed a shopping cart, and Jiang Xiaoli linked arms with her.
She suddenly burst out laughing, "Ayu, haven't we gone grocery shopping together yet?"
Zong Jiayu thought for a moment, "That's true."
It seems like they rarely have such everyday scenes together. They have a housekeeper, so neither of them has to worry about the main housework or cooking.
While picking out snacks, Jiang Xiaoli said, "It feels quite heartwarming to go grocery shopping together."
Zong Jia agreed, "If you like it, we can come often."
She selected several different flavors of yogurt and put them in her shopping cart. "Okay, we can go shopping together when we have some free time, but we're both too busy."
Zong Jia put his arm around her shoulder and said, "We'll slow down. When we're both retired, what would Little Pear like to do?"
She couldn't help but chuckle. "Isn't it a bit too early to start thinking about retirement now?"
Zong Jiayu reminded her, "Didn't Xiaolizi want to retire at 30? Time flies."
"Okay! Let me think about it."
She casually tossed the items she liked into her shopping cart. "Hmm... First of all, it's the round-the-world trip we talked about back then! And then, let's do something meaningful."
Now that I'm earning more and more money, I'm truly beginning to understand what social responsibility means. I'm not so generous as to take from the people and give back to the people, but I can still do some charity work and help the vulnerable.
"Yes, Little Pear is right."
Zong Jiayu was still echoing what she said behind her when Jiang Xiaoli suddenly noticed the maternity and baby products on the shelf.
She turned and pointed, "Haha, we should have had a little one by then, right?"
Zong Jia softened completely, "No rush, let's wait until Xiao Lizi is ready."
Jiang Xiaoli took his hand and asked, "Ayu, do you prefer a boy or a girl?"
Zong Jia hesitated for a while before saying, "I love any child that is ours."
She stood there with her arms crossed, frowning as she looked at him. "Why are you hesitating! Are you sexist?"
"No!" Zong Jiayu quickly explained, "Really, no. I like both boys and girls. I just thought of Uncle Xiao. He was upset when we were together. He's recovered now that Xiaoyu is with Brother Le. I put myself in his shoes and it's hard for me to accept."
Jiang Xiaoli looked at him speechlessly, "You're thinking way too far ahead!"
She thought of herself in her past life, "If you could tell your daughter not to get married, that would be fine too!"
"Not getting married?" Zong Jiayu felt her mind go blank. "Just living alone forever?"
She nodded. "We don't need to object if people are truly in love with each other, but if they aren't, there's no need to get married just for the sake of getting married. Isn't it great to be single?"
She raised an eyebrow and continued, "Or are you saying that if you hadn't met me, you would have just married anyone suitable when you reached a certain age?"
"No way!" Zong Jiayu denied.
"That's settled then!" Jiang Xiaoli pushed the shopping cart and continued walking forward.
Suddenly intrigued, she asked, "Ayu, what do you think is the essence of marriage?"
Zong Jiayu replied without hesitation, "Live with the person you love."
Jiang Xiaoli chuckled softly, "Ayu, then why do you think so many people who don't love each other get married?"
Before he could answer, she gave her own answer: "I think the essence of marriage is finding the right person to spend your life with."
Seeing Zong Jia's furrowed brows, she handed him the shopping cart, took his arm, and smiled.
"Ayu, coincidentally, we are people who love each other and are also suitable for each other."
Upon hearing this, Zong Jiayu's brows finally relaxed, and he hugged her tightly.
Jiang Xiaoli buried her head in his chest, "Haha, honestly, what were you so nervous about just now?"
Zong Jiayu rubbed the back of her head. "Why do you think I'm nervous? Don't breathe so heavily next time you speak."
She reached out and poked him in the waist. "Look at you, so timid!"
Zong Jia held her hand and said, "Little Pear, I get very nervous about anything that happens to you."
She nodded with a smile, "Okay, let go now, people are watching us!"
They continued shopping at the supermarket hand in hand, and were both amazed when they arrived at the snack section!
Two whole rows of display cases, with a sign on top indicating "Jiang Li Ji" and the bottom filled with "Jiang Li Ji" products.
Jiang Xiaoli swallowed hard. "Ayu, do you think I gave Brother Dafu too few shares?"
Zong Jia did not give a direct answer; he only said, "Dafu has indeed done a good job since taking over 'Jiang Li Ji'."
The two country bumpkins took one of each product they hadn't tried before, filling the remaining space in their shopping cart to the brim.
Zong Jiayu glanced at the car. "Shall we call it a day? Or shall I take another shopping cart and continue shopping?"
Jiang Xiaoli felt she had had enough of today's amazing experience, and she said, "That's enough, let's head home!"
The two of them filled four of the largest shopping bags with their purchases. When they got home and parked their car, they happened to run into Aunt Tian, who had also just returned from shopping.
Aunt Tian was stunned for a moment, she couldn't quite believe it, "You two went to the supermarket?"
This is truly the first time she's done housework here in all this time!
Zong Jia smiled and said, "After we finished the yogurt, we went out for a stroll."
Aunt Tian quickly explained, "Mr. Zong, I'm so sorry, I was thinking of buying it all together when I went to restock today..."
Jiang Xiaoli waved her hand, "It's nothing, it's nothing. Chengcheng came to the house, and I was already shocked that there was only one bottle of herbal medicine left in the refrigerator."
