Chapter 66 Defending One's Position Reasonably

Chen watched with a smile as his two favorite students bickered.

After a while, he finally spoke, "Alright, let's go back and eat. Come back this afternoon for the liberal arts exam."

When Jiang Xiaoli returned home, there was still a crowd of people in her yard, with several business owners queuing up to pick up goods.

After she finished her meal in the main room, Li Guizhi saw everyone off.

She asked in surprise, "Mom, has the shipment volume increased again?"

Li Guizhi smiled broadly, "Yes, they all introduced one to another. Now it's even a bit difficult to operate four stoves at the same time every day."

Jiang Xiaoli couldn't help but urge, "Mom, if you're too busy, don't take on any new orders. I'll think of another way later."

"Look at what you're saying, you think you can just turn away money that's offered to you?" Li Guizhi rolled her eyes at her daughter.

She didn't argue with her mother and secretly decided that she should check out the factory as soon as possible, as a small family workshop was not a long-term solution.

The afternoon exams for several humanities subjects involved a lot of writing. After finishing the questions, Jiang Xiaoli looked at her exam paper.

The handwriting on the exam paper gradually became limp and weak, just like her current state.

The soreness in her body has successfully shifted from her thighs to her forearms, and now she feels completely listless.

After handing in her paper, she was pulled over to Teacher Liu's side.

Teacher Liu handed the corrected papers to her and Xu Xing, saying, "The exam went well. How did you two do on the competition questions? Would you like to take a quiz too?"

Jiang Xiaoli's eyes lit up, and she nodded like a chick pecking at rice. "Teacher Liu, I think our chemistry is unmatched!"

Ms. Liu's lips couldn't help but curl upwards, but she said, "Who said we're in sync!"

He looked at Xu Xing, "What do you say?"

Xu Xing did not hesitate, "Teacher Liu, I'm willing."

"Pfft!" Jiang Xiaoli couldn't help but burst out laughing.

Teacher Liu and Xu Xing both looked at her.

She covered her mouth, "I didn't mean to, it's just that the last time I heard 'I do' was in a TV drama proposal scene."

Teacher Liu laughed and pointed at her a few times in the air, saying, "You!"

Xu Xing's face darkened, and he remained silent.

As they left the office, the class was having its last lesson. Instead of going back to the classroom, the two of them stood in front of the corridor railing, gazing at the playground.

Three minutes passed, and Jiang Xiaoli glanced at Xu Xing. The boy had a stern face, and her emotions were unreadable.

She took two steps to the right and nudged him lightly with her elbow. "What's wrong? Are you angry?"

Xu Xing also moved two steps to the right, maintaining a few steps' distance from her. "No."

Jiang Xiaoli laughed, "Then why are you making such a long face? I was all ready to bow and apologize to you."

Xu Xing turned his head and looked her over a few times, as if to assess the credibility of her words.

He quickly turned his head back and assessed the situation, finding the credibility score to be 0.

His cool voice said, "There's nothing to apologize for, but when will you ever be serious?"

Jiang Xiaoli turned to the side, leaning her entire weight against the railing, her right foot touching the left side of her left foot, her right leg slightly bent, forming a triangle between her legs.

She asked curiously, "You're only sixteen or seventeen, why are you so serious all day?"

Xu Xing looked at her nonchalant posture, his brow furrowed so deeply it could trap a fly.

"Without rules, nothing can be accomplished."

"What is your dream?" Jiang Xiaoli asked.

Although Xu Xing felt that her train of thought was a bit erratic, he still answered sincerely, "I want to become a scientist, and I will become a scientist."

At least one-third of children have dreamed of becoming a scientist.

But as they grew older, reality taught them that not just anyone can become a scientist.

But Jiang Xiaoli felt that for Xu Xing, this was not just a child's casual fantasy, but a direction he had been striving for.

She smiled and said, "No wonder you're always so meticulous. But I'm a bit materialistic. I just want to make money, I want to be a rich kid, I want to be a nouveau riche. So why should I restrain myself? Isn't it better to be relaxed and happy?"

Xu Xing stared at her with wide eyes, as if he had heard some outrageous statement about the extermination of nine generations of a family.

"You want to go into business? You just want to make money?"

She nodded. "Yes, is there a problem?"

Xu Xing stared at her without saying a word, as if trying to force her to change her mind with his mental power.

After a few dozen seconds, he gave up, "You, you're wasting your talent!"

Jiang Xiaoli grinned, showing off her bright white teeth, "Comrade Xu Xing, you're getting too attached to appearances!"

Xu Xing wanted to argue with her a bit more, but was interrupted by the bell signaling the end of get out of class.

Before he could speak, Jiang Xiaoli had already run into the classroom.

When he entered the classroom, he saw her excitedly describing how difficult the exam was and how amazing she was.

Xu Xing felt as if a stone was stuck in his heart. From childhood to adulthood, his grandfather and father had always given him a traditional and strict education.

But Jiang Xiaoli's appearance made him waver; her unrestrained nature made him feel as if he could see infinite possibilities in her.

Jiang Xiaoli had no idea that she had made a young man think about life for the first time.

After chatting with Xie Yitao and the others, she went home with Xiao Muyu for a free meal.

Today is Xu Feng's birthday. Li Guizhi told her at noon that they would be going to the Xiao family's house tonight to celebrate Xu Feng's birthday.

Her legs were still sore, and she hadn't ridden her bike to school in the afternoon. Right now, she was sitting on the back of Xiao Muyu's bike, bickering with Yuan Man.

Yuan Man rolled her eyes at her. "You're just bragging. I don't believe you can run 1500 meters!"

"Hey, you're underestimating me a bit. I'll show you what I'm made of next month's sports meet!" Jiang Xiaoli declared.

"Then explain yourself, why are your legs so sore that you can't even ride a bike?" Yuan Man asked logically.

She hugged Xiao Muyu's slender waist tightly, "I just want to get close to my Xiaoyu, what do you know!"

Xiao Muyu was suddenly hugged around the waist, her body trembled, and the car immediately started to sway and zigzag.

She yelled from ahead, "Jiang! Xiao! Li! What are you doing!"

Jiang Xiaoli immediately gave up arguing with Yuan Man, "I was wrong, I was wrong, calm down, calm down, don't panic, hold on tight to the handrail, hey, right, like this..."

Xiao Muyu quickly regained her balance, and Yuan Man caught up, "Hahaha, serves you right for being so cocky!"

Jiang Xiaoli didn't care about her sarcasm. "Yuan Xiaoman, if you're jealous that I'm sitting in the back seat of Xiaoyu, I can switch with you."

Yuan Man stammered "You, you, you" a few times, unable to think of a rebuttal, and hummed twice before riding ahead.

Xiao Muyu said helplessly, "Why do you always argue with Yuan Man?"

She felt more wronged than Dou E, and she protested, "It's all your fault! Yuan Xiaoman is arguing with me about who your best friend is! I'm just reasonably defending my status!"

Her confident tone left Xiao Muyu speechless.
