Chapter 99 Signing the Acquisition Contract

On Saturday, October 23, Jiang Xiaoli returned from her morning run and rummaged through her drawers to put together a smart and professional outfit for Li Guizhi.

She nodded, stroking her chin. "Mom, wearing this outfit, you definitely look like a famous female entrepreneur!"

Li Guizhi was a little embarrassed, "Is it really as exaggerated as you say?"

Yang Hui, who was working in the yard, chimed in, "Sister Guizhi, just listen to Xiaoli, you look really good in this outfit!"

But Li Guizhi was still a little nervous.

Seeing this, Jiang Xiaoli said, "Mom, how about I take a day off and go with you?"

"Is it okay to ask for leave temporarily?" Li Guizhi really wanted to protect her daughter from the storm, but she was really unsure about signing the agreement to acquire the factory.

"It should be fine. Please wait for me at home. I'll go to school to ask for leave and come back right away."

After saying that, she quickly drank the last bit of porridge in her bowl and rode her bike to school.

The first teacher to arrive at the office today was Zhao Jiawei; she came this morning to supervise the students' morning reading.

Seeing Jiang Xiaoli at the office door, he asked, "Why are you here so early? Is something the matter?"

Jiang Xiaoli briefly explained, "Teacher Zhao, something came up at home this morning, and I'd like to ask for leave. I wonder when Teacher Chen will be coming?"

Zhao Jiawei exclaimed, "Teacher Chen has to go to a meeting at the Education Bureau this morning, so he probably won't be coming. How about this, you write a leave note, and I'll tell him when he gets to school. You just need to come to school on time this afternoon."

"Okay, thank you, Teacher Zhao."

Zhao Jiawei tore off a piece of white paper for her. "Just write here. Is the situation at home serious? Is it enough time to take the morning off?"

Jiang Xiaoli quickly wrote out a leave request and handed it to her. "It's not serious, it's just a bit urgent. I can finish it in the morning, and I'll be at school on time this afternoon."

"Okay, then be careful on your way. If anything else happens, remember to call the office immediately," Zhao Jiawei instructed.

When Jiang Xiaoli returned home, Zong Jiayu was also there. He smiled and said, "Xiaoli, are you worried?"

She waved her hand, "No, that's not true. It's just that it's my mom's first time signing such an important contract, and she's a little nervous. I went with her to cheer her on."

The three of them went to sign the acquisition contract today. Instead of riding bicycles, they hailed a small red Xiali taxi at the street corner.

The driver was very talkative. When he heard they were going to Fengqing Canned Food Factory, he chatted with them about some gossip. “Oh dear, Fengqing Canned Food Factory is a long-established brand in Xijing. It’s just gone now. I heard it’s going to be sold soon. I wonder what will happen to all those workers.”

Jiang Xiaoli found it quite interesting. "Master, does everyone know now that Fengqing Canned Food Factory is going to be sold?"

The driver smiled smugly, "You've come to the right person! My brother-in-law works at Fengqing Canned Food Factory. They haven't been paid for almost five months, including this month. He said that someone came to the factory to inspect it during the National Day holiday, and the purchase is just around the corner!"

Zong Jia sat in the passenger seat and glanced at the driver. "Sir, has your brother-in-law been looking for work elsewhere lately?"

"That's what I advised him, seeing that the factory is going downhill, he should find another job as soon as possible, right? But my brother-in-law is so stubborn, he insists that their old factory manager will definitely take good care of them. Now it's been several months, and I don't know if the new owner of the factory will still hire these old people from their factory." The driver was very worried about his brother-in-law.

There's no traffic congestion in Xi'an now; it only took them about ten minutes to drive there before they arrived at the cannery.

Jiang Xiaoli and her daughter got out of the car first. While Zong Jiayu was paying the driver, she chatted with him, "Driver, don't worry about your brother-in-law. The new boss won't let him lose his job. He should work hard at the factory!"

After receiving the money, the driver wanted to ask some more specific questions when Wei Dong came over with a smile and greeted them as they entered the factory.

Wei Dong greeted Li Guizhi warmly, "Sister-in-law, it's been quite a while since we last met! You still look so young!"

Li Guizhi was a little embarrassed. "It really has been a long time. How have you been lately?"

"Haha, how could it not be good to meet Little Pear! Sister-in-law, look at my fate, Brother Jiang and his daughter have both become my benefactors, this destiny is truly amazing!" Wei Dong exclaimed repeatedly.

The group followed him into the conference room.

A young man came in, poured water for the group, and then politely left.

Wei Dong took out several contracts from his briefcase. "Little Pear, these are the acquisition contracts that both of us have had lawyers review. Take a look, and if there are no problems, sign them. Fengqing Canned Food Factory will be yours."

Zong Jia showed her the acquisition contract, and she went through it again to make sure it matched the one she had seen before. She then pushed the contract toward Li Guizhi and said, "Mom, no problem, sign it."

Li Guizhi looked at the several pages of the contract, feeling a little bewildered. She calmed herself down and wrote her name in every place that required her signature.

After she signed, Wei Dong took the contract and familiarly found each signature position to sign his name.

He stared at the contract for two seconds in silence, then looked up with a smile, "It's finally settled!"

He stood up and shook hands with Li Guizhi, Jiang Xiaoli, and Zong Jiayu respectively. "Xiaoli, once the formalities are completed next week, the factory will be yours. When do you want to settle the wages of our workers here?"

Jiang Xiaoli smiled slightly, "How about next Monday? I think the workers haven't been paid for several months and they must be quite anxious. Let's hold a general meeting of all workers on Monday, one is to distribute the workers' wages, and the other is to announce the subsequent work arrangements, is that alright?"

"No problem, no problem! I'll pass on the notice today, and I guarantee everyone will be here by Monday!" Wei Dong was overjoyed to hear how quickly they had acted.

Zong Jiayu added, "Uncle Wei, I've talked to you before about how a large portion of our workers will be transferred to sales positions. I wonder if you have any recommendations for team leaders, preferably young and quick-witted ones."

Upon hearing this, Wei Dong thought for a moment and said, "Yes, there are definitely some. You'll have to let me go back and think about it carefully against the list. I'll make a list for you next Monday. Is 10 people enough?"

“Ten is enough.” Zong Jiayu nodded.

While Jiang Xiaoli was present, Wei Dong and Zong Jia had a detailed discussion with her about matters such as factory equipment, new packaging materials, and a condiment plant.

Li Guizhi listened from the sidelines, completely confused. She only felt that the way her daughter discussed official business with them was very much like her father.

She couldn't help but show a look of relief as she looked at it.

The group discussed until nearly 11 o'clock, when Wei Dong treated them to a meal before Jiang Xiaoli and the other two returned home.

Li Guizhi breathed a sigh of relief, "As expected, this is not suitable for me. I'll wait until school starts in a while and then study accounting properly."
