Chapter 209: You broke your leg while running around
Deng Xiuzhen brought Tan Yanlin to the company, and Zhang Liuying briefly introduced the situation: the old man specifically asked Deng Xiuzhen to go.
Deep down, Deng Xiuzhen was reluctant to go, but after giving it some thought, she decided to go. Firstly, it was for the company's sake and she would try not to reject any clients; secondly, she felt that although Yao Chenchen was hateful, the old man was innocent.
For safety reasons, she left Tan Yanlin at the company and asked Zhang Liuying and others to help look after him, and she brought five people with her.
Because of the dismemberment case, no one came to West Street anymore. The once deserted street now looked particularly desolate. The path was now covered with moss.
"Look at this moss. It's been a long time since anyone walked there!" Zhao Sanzhen sighed.
Deng Xiuzhen was stunned, a bad feeling surged in her heart, and she couldn't help but quicken her pace.
I hurried to the old man's door and found it ajar.
"Grandma Yao, are you home?" Deng Xiuzhen asked while standing at the door.
But there was no response.
A few people looked at each other and bravely pushed the door open.
The yard was quiet, the ground was dusty, and the door of the room was not closed...
Deng Xiuzhen pushed open the half-closed door, and the old wooden door groaned like it was dying. A cold wind poured in from the broken glass window, blowing up the clothes scattered on the floor. The bulging bedding on the double bed rose and fell slightly, like a snowy mountain about to collapse.
"Grandma Yao?" Deng Xiuzhen called out as she tentatively stepped forward and lifted the quilt. The body curled up in the cotton wool made everyone gasp - it didn't look like a living person at all, but more like a dried mummy in a museum. The old woman's bony ribs were clearly visible under her thin pajamas, and the festering bedsores at her ankles oozed yellow fluid, leaving strange patterns on the blackened sheets.
Several people were so frightened that they shuddered and took two steps back involuntarily.
"Deng, Deng..." A faint but barely audible voice was heard, and the hearts of several people finally returned to their place.
The old man's cloudy eyeballs suddenly moved, and his sunken cheeks trembled violently. Deng Xiuzhen walked to the bed.
The old man's purple lips moved and his cloudy eyes stared at Deng Xiuzhen with a pleading look.
"Quick! Call 120 and send the person to the hospital!" Deng Xiuzhen reacted and quickly gave the order.
"No!" The old man didn't know where he got the strength from, and grabbed Deng Xiuzhen's wrist tightly with his chicken claw-like hands, and his fingers with bulging veins almost pinched into the flesh.
Deng Xiuzhen felt pain and naturally stepped back, accidentally moving the bed rails, causing the bed frame to collapse and fall on the old man!
Several people lifted up the bed rails, but the old man was already unconscious. When the ambulance arrived, the doctor examined him and announced that the old man was dead. There was no need to send him to the hospital, and they could just prepare for his funeral.
Before Deng Xiuzhen could respond, a man suddenly rushed over and was in front of the old woman in a few steps. Looking at the old woman, he knelt down and shouted loudly: "Mom! Mom! Mom, I'm back late! I'm sorry, Mom!"
He yelled and banged his head against the bed.
The shouts were urgent and shrill, and the crashes were deep and violent, and the people nearby couldn't help but feel sad when they heard them.
Deng Xiuzhen, however, had a very bad feeling, like an intuition of crisis.
She quietly took a few steps back, until she reached the end, then quietly left the courtyard and dialed 110. After she finished the call, she didn't dare to leave, so she just lay outside the courtyard and watched.
"How did she get this injury?" Deng Xiuzhen suddenly heard the man's roar. She shrank back to the wall and hid herself completely.
"We came to clean for the old lady and called out to Grandma Yao but she didn't respond. We came in and saw her lying on the bed. When we checked, the bed frame had fallen over..." Zhao Sanzhen explained. She subconsciously concealed the part where the old lady pulled Deng Xiuzhen.
"Why did the bed frame fall over? Why are you here? Did you knock the bed frame over? You'll have to pay with my mother's life!" The man roared, got up, grabbed Zhao Sanzhen, and slapped her twice in the face.
Both sides of Zhao Sanzhen's face immediately swelled up and blood oozed from his mouth.
"Don't hit people!" The doctor hurried forward to pull him away.
"Was my mother crushed to death?" the man asked with red eyes.
"That's uncertain. After all, the old man's health is not very good..." the doctor replied.
"Are you doctors so irresponsible in what you say?" The man glared, a murderous look emanating from him.
The doctor involuntarily took a few steps back and turned to leave.
"Would you like to try taking another step?"
The doctor turned around and saw the man looking at him teasingly.
Looking at the distance, he thought that if he ran faster, he should be able to run out. The body reacted faster than the brain.
He raised his leg to run, but only one foot moved forward and the other foot was entangled by something.
Then he fell flat on his face in a spectacular way.
The man walked up to the doctor and stepped on his leg.
Then a scream was heard and the doctor knew that his leg was broken.
"Why are you so careless? Did you break your leg?" the man said with a sneer.
The people present had completely given up wanting to run away and looked at the man with trembling eyes.
"Tell me! Who are you? What are you here for?" The man turned around and grabbed Zhao Sanzhen and asked viciously.
Zhao Sanzhen wanted to say something, but her face was so swollen that she couldn't say anything. She just looked at the man in horror.
"We are from a cleaning company. Your mother called and asked us to come over to clean." The other people turned around and didn't see Deng Xiuzhen, so they explained timidly.
"Tell us everything! Otherwise, you will all pay with your lives for my mother!" They were completely stunned by the man's act of breaking the doctor's leg.
Several people talked one after another, explaining the cause and effect of the matter and all the details.
"Are you the boss?!" The man carried Zhao Sanzhen like a chicken.
Zhao Sanzhen's face was swollen on both sides and he was completely unable to speak. He could only shake his head desperately.
"Who is the boss?" the man yelled, shocking the others. They subconsciously looked around.
Deng Xiuzhen huddled against the wall, not daring to breathe.
Only the doctor was groaning, hugging his legs.
The man took out a piece of paper, a pen, and a box of ink from his pocket and said, "Each of you write down the whole story, sign and put your fingerprints on it!"
"Remember, you broke your leg by running around." The man smiled and squatted down.
The doctor was frightened and nodded quickly.
Those who could write and those who couldn't began to take paper and leave marks on the paper using their own ways of expression.
Finally, under the supervision of the man, she left three documents, one of which was written by the medical staff, explaining the situation they saw. They also emphasized that her leg was broken when she fell down while trying to save someone.
The other two copies were written by two people in the company who could read, and three people who could not read signed and put their fingerprints on the two copies.
The man looked over the materials carefully and asked everyone to leave their address and contact information.
Deng Xiuzhen was listening outside, not knowing what they had written. She was very anxious, but she didn't dare to do anything, not even move.
The man put the materials in his pocket, looked up at the men and said, "You all have to come out and testify for me when the time comes. If anyone dares not to come, or doesn't tell the truth, I will kill his entire family!"
