Chapter 1958: Home

In order to evacuate the crowd smoothly, the investigators worked closely with the neighborhood committee and did a lot of work before the arrest.

Through surveillance and reports from the public, investigators focused their attention on the third floor of Building 18 in the community.

Building No. 18 is a multi-story building with five floors in total. It is one of the higher-end residences in the community.

It was found that the two houses on the third floor of a unit, which were located opposite each other, had the same owner.

As early as the renovation, someone reported that the owner seemed to have broken through the wall between the two households.

Because the wall between the two households is not a load-bearing wall, no one cares about this matter.

The aunt from the neighborhood committee did a lot of work, even visiting the residents under the pretext of a public opinion survey, and obtained a lot of detailed information about the third floor.

After the third-floor residence was opened up, more than a dozen men lived there. These men were well-dressed and polite.

We did not find any evidence of them engaging in gambling or other bad habits.

The problem is that a large amount of takeout is consumed on the third floor every day.

The guy who refused to deliver food said that he once delivered ninety boxes of fast food to the third floor at one time, but the other party was only willing to pay for one delivery, which made him very dissatisfied, and he refused to deliver food to the third floor from then on.

"I suspect that the third floor is used as an office, and many employees are sharing meals. But this doesn't make sense. Although the house on the third floor is quite large, it can't accommodate 80 or 90 employees?" The delivery guy expressed his confusion.

In addition to eating a lot of takeout every day, neighbors also reported that people on the third floor bought large quantities of meat.

"They seem to love eating meat very much. We often see them buying large quantities of meat from the supermarket. Sometimes we don't have time to buy more before they buy all the discounted meat!" This is the complaint of the neighbor who was competing with the people on the third floor for a discount but didn't win over them.

A lot of such investigations were conducted, and when they finally summarized the results, the investigators were surprised to find that there were probably twelve men living on the third floor. These twelve men consumed the fast food of eighty to ninety people every day, and in addition, they ate hundreds of kilograms of meat on average every week.

This is far beyond the human appetite, so the investigators concluded that in addition to the residents, there must be very large pets kept in Building No. 3.

Through checking the surveillance footage, they discovered that a lizard-like shadow appeared near Building No. 3 in the middle of the night.

At this point, all the evidence points to the third floor of Building 18.

Since the giant lizard had a history of injuring people, in order to prevent it from doing something desperate when being caught and injuring people again, the investigators carefully evacuated the residents of Building 18.

The residents on the fourth, fifth, first and second floors of the unit were all quietly notified by the police and found excuses to slip away in the past two days.

Through surveillance, investigators discovered that the residents of Building No. 3 did not go out with everyone during working hours, but continued to stay at home.

They set the arrest time at nine in the morning. Firstly, most of the people going to work had already left at this time, and there were fewer people in the community. Secondly, this time period was also the peak period for checking water meters and charging fees, so it would not be easy to arouse the other party's suspicion if they went to the door at this time.

On the day of the arrest, the field staff first blocked the surrounding area to ensure that all residents of Building 18, except for the person to be arrested, had been evacuated. Only then did they dispatch investigators to visit the building disguised as someone collecting electricity bills.

The investigator knocked twice, and the other party quickly opened the door. Upon learning that they were there to collect the electricity bill, the man readily took out cash to pay. However, the investigator refused. "Sir, your meter is running too slowly. I suspect you've tampered with the circuit. Can we come in and check?"
