Chapter 57: Thrilling (I)
"Editor Li, this is the final draft for printing tomorrow."
Huang Ying handed the folder to Li Cheng's desk.
"good."
Li Cheng didn't look up and continued to work on the task at hand.
Huang Ying did not leave, but looked at him, her eyes gradually becoming gentler.
After a moment, Li Cheng finally realized, "Anything else?"
Huang Ying blushed, "Brother Cheng, can I ask you a question?"
When they were working, she always called him Editor-in-Chief Li. Now she called him Brother Cheng, and it was obvious that what she wanted to ask was not related to work.
Li Cheng put down his pen, stretched his waist, and relaxed his tone.
"Ask."
Huang Ying's eyes flickered, and she hesitated but still spoke, "Brother Cheng, why don't you just cancel the engagement? Instead, postpone it until half a year later?"
Li Cheng straightened his spine again. Although his expression did not change, the air became a little tense because of his action.
"It's a family decision."
"Brother Cheng, when did you become so obedient to your family?"
Huang Ying really couldn't figure out what kind of person Li Cheng was. He was decisive, resolute, arrogant and cold. No one could influence his thinking, except when it came to marriage.
Child marriage is ridiculous in itself, but I didn't expect that he would let his family decide for him.
She thought that the postponement was a signal that he wanted to refuse, but she didn't expect him to say it was a family decision.
So if his family hadn't made this decision, would he really marry that fat girl in a few days? "Huang Ying, this is my private matter."
Li Cheng reminded calmly.
Huang Ying swallowed back the thousands of words that were on her lips.
They grew up together, and she knew him too well. This sentence meant that he didn't want to continue this topic.
But it would be too embarrassing if she went out like this.
After a few seconds, a faint smile appeared on her face.
"Brother Cheng, are you free tomorrow? My mom said she missed you and wants you to come over for dinner."
"I'm going to give a speech at the University of Tokyo tomorrow. I'll go visit my uncle and aunt when I have time later."
As the editor-in-chief of the newspaper and also a visiting professor at the University of Tokyo, Li Cheng is very busy every day.
Huang Ying was a little disappointed, but she didn't show it too much on her face.
Of course she knew how good he was; they were the same age and grew up together, but he had already reached the height that they admired.
Sometimes she even wondered if his brain was different from that of an ordinary person, otherwise how could he be so outstanding! "I'll pass it on. I'll be out first, Editor-in-Chief Li."
…
"Oh, it feels good."
After exercising, Ye Yao was covered in sweat. He took a shower, used shampoo and facial cream, and felt like a brand new person.
Thinking back to those days...
Forget it, there’s no point in recalling the good times and thinking about the bad times now.
We just have to keep working hard.
"Mom, what is this?"
Seeing a bag suddenly appear in the yard, Ye Yao looked puzzled.
Wanting to open it and take a look, Zhang Qiufeng explained, "These are for cleaning. Your Aunt Wang just sent them over."
Ye Yao was even more confused, "Why are you giving this?"
“She works as a cleaner at Dongda University. Her daughter-in-law is about to give birth these days, and she really can’t spare the time, so she came here today to ask me to help for a few days.
It's not like I'm helping out for free, she will pay me based on the number of days I work."
Fearing that Ye Yao would object, Zhang Qiufeng deliberately added the word "wages" at the end.
