Chapter 6 Sun Xiaohao is lost

"What? My child didn't come to kindergarten today?" Sun Aimin's abrupt voice was heard at the end of the school day.

Zhang Jing, Sun Xiaohao's homeroom teacher, soothed him, "Dad, don't worry! Xiaohao really didn't come to kindergarten today! Why don't you contact other family members to see if you took him somewhere to play?"

"His mother is taking care of him today. Something happened to his mother and the child is missing..."

While explaining anxiously, Sun Aimin rushed to the principal's office where the landline was installed.

“Hey, this parent…”

The headmaster, who was sitting at her desk, was surprised and dissatisfied when she saw Sun Aimin suddenly barge in. But before she could finish her words, Sun Aimin quickly picked up the phone and dialed 110.

Zhang Jing, who followed closely behind, breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Sun Aimin was not going to come in and cause trouble. She then called the confused principal aside and briefly described what she knew.

After two beeps, the call was connected.

"Hello, I want to report a crime! My child went missing at the People's Hospital this morning!"

"Yes, People's Hospital, six years old, boy, 1.2 meters tall, 46 kilograms, with a buzz cut."

"Need to go to the police station to report the crime?"

"Can you please send the police first? The child is too young and has been missing for most of the day!"

"What? It takes 24 hours to file a case? It takes so long. What if the child was abducted and moved by human traffickers?"

After Sun Aimin made the phone call, he became more and more angry and anxious.

On one side is his wife lying unconscious in the hospital ward, and on the other side is his child whose whereabouts are unknown. He is alone, how can he take care of both?

He pounded his head several times in pain. He felt helpless in dealing with either of them, let alone taking care of both.

This unprecedented feeling of frustration mercilessly pierced his heart, causing him unbearable pain.

Soon, he picked up the phone and called Yuan Rui's workplace. He briefly described the incident to Yuan Rui and then rushed to the nearest police station to report the case as quickly as possible.

In Qingyang City, apart from my cousin Zhang Lei and his wife, the only relatives I can contact are Yuan Rui's family.

Other relatives are either in the following counties or in other cities.

Yuan Rui was terrified when she received a call about her sister being in a coma and her nephew missing. After gathering the basic information from Sun Aimin, she informed colleagues and friends, asking them to keep an eye out. She also asked her husband, Zhao Baoguo, to contact their acquaintances at the police station to see if they could quickly arrange for someone to investigate the child's whereabouts.

This is an urgent matter. If we delay any longer, the child may get into an accident or may never be found.

After hanging up the phone, Sun Aimin rushed to the police station to report the case as quickly as possible and provided the ID photo of his child which he had tucked away in his wallet.

They prepared this for their child's upcoming primary school enrollment, but they didn't expect it to come in handy here.

Afterwards, he hurriedly asked for leave from the leaders of his own unit and Yuan Jie's unit, and asked everyone to help find out the whereabouts of the child.

When he rushed back to the hospital, Li Juan was standing in the corridor outside the intensive care unit.

She looked behind Sun Aimin and saw no sign of the child. She thought it was inconvenient to bring the child to the hospital, so she left the child at a relative's or friend's home.

"Cousin, the doctor just came over. My cousin and her unborn baby are both in stable condition for now. We don't know the exact cause of her coma yet."

Li Juan told Sun Aimin about the situation in the hospital during the time he was away.

Sun Aimin had a dejected look on his face and nodded woodenly, no longer having his former charm.

After a few seconds, Sun Aimin seemed to have thought of something and said to Li Juan, "Could you please ask my colleagues at the hospital today if they saw the child leave the hospital? Was he taken away by someone or did he leave on his own?"

"Oh, okay...cousin, what did you just say? Child, are you coming to the hospital today too?" Li Juan exclaimed.

Sun Aimin uttered a trembling "hmm": "The child is lost!"

God knows how painful and tormented he felt inside when he mentioned "the child is lost" to others over and over again, as if he was uncovering a wound deep enough to see the bone over and over again.

But he had to do this. He had to let everyone he knew and met know that his child was lost, and mobilize all the power he could to help him find his child.

In the past year, Sun Xiaohao often expressed her insecurity to Sun Aimin and Yuan Jie. Although they thought they gave Sun Xiaohao all their love, Sun Xiaohao often revealed her little fear that her parents did not love her.

Especially after she became pregnant with her second child, Sun Xiaohao's anxiety and worry became more obvious.

To this end, Yuan Jie and Sun Aimin not only tried to spend more time with Sun Xiaohao, but also assured him again and again that they would not neglect him because of the arrival of his younger siblings.

Now, how desperate would such a sensitive child feel when he finds himself in a place without parents?

Sun Aimin didn't dare to think about it anymore.

When Yuan Rui received a call from Sun Aimin, it was almost time to get off work.

The situation was urgent, so she said goodbye to her leaders and colleagues and left the office ten minutes early.

Zhao Ming was picked up from school every day by his grandparents who lived in the next door neighborhood. Yuan Rui called her parents-in-law, briefly explained the situation, and asked Zhao Ming to sleep at their house that day.

Afterwards, she rushed to the hospital.

After seeing Sun Aimin, Yuan Rui asked anxiously: "Aimin, how is Xiao Si?"

When Sun Aimin saw Yuan Rui, her eyes instantly turned red again. She shook her head gently and said, "Sister, it's my fault that I didn't take good care of her and the child. Why were you so careless today and let her come to the hospital alone..."

"What's the harm in doing a pregnancy checkup one day later? I'll have more time..."

Sun Aimin murmured his regret. He was always so worried, so why didn't he ask her to wait a day?

But there is no medicine for regret in the world, and it is too late to say anything.

Yuan Rui looked at her youngest sister lying quietly in the isolation window. It was as if an invisible big hand was squeezing her heart tightly, making her almost unable to breathe due to the pain, and tears rolled down her face uncontrollably.

After a long while, he calmed down a little before speaking: "Don't blame yourself too much. Everyone has seen how you treat Xiao Si!"

"I've already called your brother-in-law and asked him to see if he could find the leader of the police station and arrange for someone to go look for the child as soon as possible!"

"Things have already come to this. Don't dwell on yourself. The most urgent thing is to think about how to deal with each and every one of these things."
