He didn't want to carry water at all; it was such a long way, and each load of water was heavy. Besides, it was so early in the morning, and he couldn't get up then.
"Anyway, if you don't carry water, you won't have anything to eat. You figure it out yourself." Yu Qiuying was too lazy to argue with him. He was as tall as her, how could he not carry water?
They're just too lazy to choose, they're lazy as a bee!
Zhou Jiahong kicked the table leg angrily, "Hmph, if you don't want to eat, then don't eat! Go ahead and cry if you let me starve to death!"
Then he stormed back to his room, slamming the door shut with a deafening roar.
Yu Qiuying was not affected at all. Seeing Zhou Cailian's hesitant expression, she said, "Let's eat. Don't worry about him. He won't starve. He's such a big man, yet he's acting like a useless person. If we don't discipline him properly, he'll really be ruined."
Zhou Cailian wanted to say that the fifth child was still young and might become more sensible when he got older, but seeing that her mother didn't want to say anything more, she had no choice but to swallow the words that were on the tip of her tongue.
Inside the room, Zhou Caixiang finished the last problem, stood up and stretched her stiff body, then carefully packed away her books and stationery. Thinking about going back to school tomorrow, her mood improved a bit.
She put on a coat and went out of the house. When she came to the kitchen, she saw her mother and older sister eating. Her face immediately fell, and she said unhappily, "Big sister, why didn't you call me to eat?"
She was still angry with her mother and deliberately didn't call her.
Zhou Cailian looked at her younger sister, then at her mother, and for a moment she didn't know how to respond.
Yu Qiuying wasn't going to tolerate her. "What do you want me to do? If you don't work, what are you going to eat? Do you think I'm calling you? Do you think your older sister is your maid?"
"Mom, what are you trying to do! If you're still angry, go take it out on my older brother! Why are you talking to me like that!" Zhou Caixiang stomped her feet in anger. Her mother had never spoken to her like this before. Today, she seemed like a completely different person, and Zhou Caixiang couldn't quite accept it.
Upon closer inspection, she saw only two empty plates left on the table, which made her even angrier. "How come you've finished all the food? What am I supposed to eat?!"
"Don't call me. I told you at noon that if you don't work, you won't get any food. Go hungry." Yu Qiuying glanced at her lightly. She really couldn't understand why her youngest daughter, whom she had doted on since childhood, had grown up to be so cold, indifferent, selfish, and self-serving compared to other girls in the village.
She has no feelings for this family or its members. In her previous life, after getting into university, she didn't even want to go home for the New Year. All she knew was to ask her family for money.
After she graduated from university and got a job, she started to look down on her mother and became even more distant from her family after she got married.
Thinking back on all this, Yu Qiuying felt a tightness in her chest.
Zhou Caixiang couldn't believe her mother could treat her like this, and her voice trembled with anger, "What work do I need to do? Haven't you and my older sister always done all the housework? Didn't you say I only needed to focus on my studies?"
“You’re acting all wronged? Just because you’re studying, you think you’re so great that you can’t even do housework? Are the chores in this house supposed to be done by your older sister and me? Yes, I did say before that you just need to focus on your studies and you don’t have to lift a finger to do any housework, but have you ever been grateful for what your older sister and I have done for you?”
"When your eldest sister was bullied and kicked out, you didn't even ask a single question. I've fought with that old woman Lü Sanmei so many times, and you've always been indifferent. All you know is to ask me for money and take our sacrifices for granted. Have you ever done anything for us?!" By the end, Yu Qiuying's tone had become somewhat angry.
