After completing the necessary procedures, Yu Qiuying chose an auspicious day to open her business. She then printed some simple flyers and, together with Zhou Cailian, distributed them for two days at the entrances of nearby shopping malls, cinemas, and schools.
At first, Zhou Cailian was very uneasy and didn't dare to talk to passersby or hand out flyers. She just followed behind Yu Qiuying and watched what she did, feeling both admiration and envy.
The next day, encouraged by Yu Qiuying, he took the first step. Although he stuttered when handing out flyers, at least he managed to get them out.
During dinner that evening, Yu Qiuying said to her, "See, once you take the first step, it's not difficult, is it? When we do business, we have to be thick-skinned. There's nothing to be embarrassed about. After our breakfast shop opens, you'll need to adapt as soon as possible. Your Mandarin is much more fluent now, and it will only get better over time. When you entertain guests, you have to hold your head high and be generous, understand?"
"Yes, I understand, Mom." Zhou Cailian also wanted to be as confident and poised as her mother. After a day like this, her mindset had indeed changed.
Before today, she felt she couldn't do it and didn't dare to, but after taking the first step today, she discovered that she could actually do it.
It seems there's really nothing to be afraid of.
The shop is well-decorated and divided into three sections. The front section is the storefront, which can accommodate six tables.
A small partition was made in the middle, just big enough to fit a 1.5-meter bed and some odds and ends. The space is a bit small, but at least there's a place to rest.
The back is the kitchen, which isn't very big. Yu Qiuying bought two gas stoves and one coal stove.
Before opening, they bought all the necessary items, including tables, chairs, pots, pans, and bowls.
In addition to steamed buns and mantou, breakfast also includes fried (boiled) rice noodles, rice vermicelli, tea eggs, and porridge.
For now, she'll only sell these kinds of breakfasts. She has a space, so she doesn't have to worry about making too many and not being able to sell them. If she can't sell them, she can just put them in her space and they'll still be fresh the next day.
The space contained all the ingredients and various seasonings, which she had bought at the mixed market in her hometown county. However, to avoid attracting attention, Yu Qiuying still bought some back.
Then I bought a second-hand freezer and put it in the back kitchen. I also bought a bicycle, but I didn't bring the bicycle from home.
With everything ready, the day before the opening, Yu Qiuying and Zhou Cailian cleaned all the pots, pans, and other utensils in the shop, wiped down the tables and chairs, mopped the floor, and checked to make sure they hadn't bought anything missing.
Around 5 p.m. that day, the two ate dinner at the shop. After dinner, Yu Qiuying asked Zhou Cailian to ride her bicycle back, while she stayed at the shop for the night.
Zhou Cailian also wanted to stay, "Mom, I think I won't go back. I have to get up early tomorrow to work, and I'm afraid I'll oversleep."
"Let's go back. It's not a good place to sleep. You don't need to get up too early tomorrow. Just come over before six o'clock." Yu Qiuying didn't want Cailian to stay. She wanted to cook the porridge and tea eggs tonight, and then make some buns and steamed bread. Anyway, the space can keep them fresh, so she could just take them out in the morning.
Rice noodles are easy to make, whether stir-fried or boiled; I can make them tomorrow morning.
"Hurry back, it'll get dark soon." Yu Qiuying and Cui Zhoucailian went back.
Zhou Cailian had no choice but to go back. Fortunately, she had been back and forth several times in the past few days and was already familiar with the roads. Moreover, she was only traveling on main roads, so there was nothing to be afraid of.
After Zhou Cailian left, Yu Qiuying closed the shop door and went into the kitchen to start working.
