Chapter 3 Mom

The beginning of her destiny mainly started from this moment.

The beginning of the story is very simple, but also very melodramatic. Two women gave birth in the same hospital, but the baby was taken away by the wrong family. Twelve years later, the Xu family found their daughter.

The real eldest lady returned home, and she, the fake one, returned her identity to someone else, and was still unwilling to accept it.

She had no rickshaw, no house, no pretty dresses, and even no father. She only had a mother and a very poor family. She held the cup tightly and drank the water from it sip by sip. The taste of the water from the iron pot was unique, salty and strange, but she loved it, like the best sweet spring water.

It moistened her throat, her voice, and her life.

You can hear the jingling sounds in your ears, the old-fashioned clock is still ticking in this house that still has a 1990s feel, and there are more sounds outside, and you can smell the aroma of food.

The door lock outside rang, and then a woman walked in. She looked to be in her thirties, very thin, with her hair tied casually behind her head with a rubber band.

When she turned around and saw Liu Jing sitting at the table, she was stunned for a few seconds, and then she smiled, and there seemed to be some flattering meaning in her smile.

"Jingjing, are you hungry? Mommy will cook for you. I bought some meat today and will make dumplings for you, okay?"

Liu Liang blinked her eyes, and the moisture in the corners of her eyes also disappeared.

She stood up, also holding a cup in her hand, and placed the cup in front of the woman.

The woman looked at the cup in Liu Liang's hand, not knowing where to put her hands. She instinctively wiped them on her clothes again and again.

"Is this for me?"

Liu Liang nodded.

The woman then took it and put the cup to her lips. Although she was a little hesitant, she still raised the cup and started drinking.

When the warm water touches your lips, the water temperature is just right and there is no strange smell.

Her nose felt a little sour and her eyes were red without her realizing it.

The water was finally no longer hot and there were no strange things in it. She knew that the child blamed her, and if this could make her daughter feel better, she was willing to do anything.

She was an incompetent mother who could not provide her daughter with the life she had in the Xu family, so she was willing to do anything as long as the child could feel better.

Zhou Lanping put down the cup and smiled at her daughter. No matter how tired she was outside or how much injustice she suffered, she would always give her daughter this kind of smile at home, even when she died.

"Mom will make dumplings for you."

After she finished speaking, she took the meat on the table and went to the kitchen, thinking that she had to move quickly because the children would have to go to school soon.

When she got to the small kitchen, she washed the meat in water, then kneaded the dough, rolled out the dumpling wrappers, and mixed the dumpling filling. Then, dumplings that looked like ingots appeared on the chopping board.

She suddenly turned around and saw Liu Jing standing at the door, staring at her without blinking.

"It will be fine in a moment."

She smiled at her daughter again, and her hands moved even faster.

But Liu Liang just stood there, as if she hadn't seen her for a long time. She seemed to be reminiscing, missing her, feeling grateful, and many other things, all of which Zhou Lanping didn't understand.

How much thought and complexity can a twelve-year-old child have? But what is hidden in Liu Liang's eyes now is the long-term loss and the vicissitudes of life under the coldness of the world.

Zhou Lanping brought a large bowl of dumplings and placed it in front of Liu Liang.

"Eat it, there's more in the pot."

Liu Liang lowered her head and looked at the plump white dumplings in the bowl and the few coriander leaves floating on top. The special smell made her swallow her saliva. She hadn't eaten such delicious dumplings for a long time.

Unable to resist, she picked up the chopsticks, picked up a dumpling, and took a bite impatiently. As a result, this bite burned her mouth directly, but she was still reluctant to spit it out. Even if her mouth was burned, she still put the dumpling into her mouth.

When she took the second bite, she learned her lesson and knew she had to blow on it before eating.

She blew on the dumplings again and again, and finally cooled them down a little before she put them in her mouth. Her cheeks were puffed up from eating so much.

She raised her face, with dumplings still in her mouth.

Zhou Lanping just stared at his daughter with a smile as warm as the early morning sun in March. No matter how good or outstanding other children are, or how much they bring honor to their parents, they are not his own children.

In her eyes, her child, even if she is not good in every way, is still her child, her only daughter in the world. It is her fault, she is incapable of giving her a good life.

Liu Liang picked up the bowl and placed it in front of Zhou Lanping.

"Do you want to eat?"

Zhou Lanping suddenly covered her mouth, quickly turned her face away, and secretly wiped her tears with her sleeves.

"There's more in the pot. Eat it yourself. Mom will take it."

She always forgot to serve herself a portion and just sat there, worried that her daughter would not be used to the dumplings she made. After all, the Xu family was a well-known wealthy family, and naturally the food and supplies they used were much better than what she had.

Every time, the child would eat reluctantly, no matter how attentively and carefully she prepared, but in the end she would either throw the bowl away or pour out the food. She was still worried about what would happen if the child dropped the bowl, and whether she should go to the restaurant and buy some food for her.

If she keeps eating in the cafeteria like this, her salary will really not be enough, and she will have to wait for some time before getting her salary next month. But it doesn’t matter, she can get by by eating less in the future.

Fortunately, the child ate. Zhou Lanping brought out her portion of dumplings. There were not many in total. She ate little, so the remaining ones could be used as another meal in the evening.

That is, why did she feel that today's dumplings were very delicious?

Here, Liu Liang finished eating the last dumpling. When she wanted to pick up the bowl as usual, a hand reached out and took the bowl directly from her hand.

"I'll wash it."

Zhou Lanping was holding the bowl, as if he was extremely afraid that Liu Liang would take action.

Liu Liang's fingertips paused slightly, and then she put her hands behind her back. In fact, what she wanted to say was that she no longer smashed bowls. She had grown up and changed.

But it seems that Zhou Lanping doesn't think so.

And Liu Jing herself has never thought about changing anything?

Abnormality means being a monster, and she doesn't want to be treated as a monster.
