…
"I don't want to believe it. Have you been reading some science fiction and imagining things?"
Seeing that Lu Hao really didn't believe her, Su Jin summoned her own vines. She only summoned soft vines and wrapped them around Lu Hao's wrist.
Lu Hao: ...
"This is my wood-type ability. In less than a month, many people in this world will awaken their abilities, including you." Before she was brought to Lu Hao's team in her previous life, she knew that Lu Hao had abilities, and very powerful abilities, but the person who took her to collect the bounty did not tell her what the specific abilities were.
"Why did she awaken her superpowers?" Lu Hao was now mostly convinced, but Su Jin said she had died once before. What about that? Could it be because he hadn't protected her well enough?
"Because soon, a virus will spread on the earth, and the infected people will be like zombies in the movies, eating human flesh and digging out human brains." Looking at Lu Hao's frown, she continued.
"If a normal person is caught or bitten by an infected person, they will also become a zombie. If you want to kill them, you can only destroy their brain, such as shooting them in the head."
The soft vines were still wrapped around Lu Hao's wrists, and a trickle of energy flowed into his body. He felt as comfortable as soaking in a hot spring. But if what Su Jin said was true, how could he have let her get into danger?
"You have survived in the zombie world for two years, so where was I? Aren't we together?" Lu Hao asked nervously.
Su Jin retracted her vines, wrapped her arms around Lu Hao's waist, leaned into his arms and continued, "I was on a business trip in Province G and hadn't had time to return when the zombie virus broke out. The world was in chaos. Planes, high-speed trains, and buses stopped running, and the power system was cut off.
I heard you and Driver Chen went to Province G to look for me, but I was with another team at the base in the next province, so we didn't cross paths until your generous reward took effect. Someone brought me to you, but you weren't there that day. One of your men locked me up to prevent me from seeing you. Then, while I wasn't paying attention, she injected me with the zombie virus. I woke up later, on the plane to Province G. I thought it was all a dream, but my wood-based abilities returned with me. Lu Hao, that wasn't a dream; it was the real apocalypse, and it's coming in less than a month!
"What's the name of my subordinate who killed you?" Lu Hao's voice was a little cold. Su Jin could feel that he was angry, but this was not the focus now!
"I'll tell you this later. The most important thing now is that you trust me!"
Although Lu Hao was still immersed in self-blame, he believed her, but he actually lost her. How could he do that!
Hugging Su Jin tightly, he decided that no matter what happened in the future, he would stay by her side and would not let her get hurt again.
Feeling Lu Hao's emotions, Su Jin also calmed down.
She knew what Lu Hao was thinking. She hadn't thought much of it before, but in his arms, she finally began to face the fact that she had died once. Was she wronged? Absolutely. She was alone, having lost her family and friends. For two years, she'd lived in constant fear. Hunger and cold were secondary; loneliness was the most terrifying. Although she'd been with a few groups, in the end, no one she could truly confide in remained.
Lu Hao touched Su Jin's face in his arms and found that she was really crying. He was also heartbroken and had never blamed himself so much before. He felt that it was because he had not properly protected her, and it was his subordinates who killed her. If he knew the man's name, he was afraid that he would not be able to help but cut him into pieces!
"Xiao Jin, don't cry, I will be with you, we will be fine together." Lu Hao was flustered and didn't know how to comfort her.
"Lu Hao, there is one more thing I want to tell you." Su Jin sniffed her nose, sat down again, and took out the jade slip from the space in front of Lu Hao.
"Is this also a superpower?" Why did this suddenly appear in Su Jin's hand?
Su Jin was not in a hurry to explain. Instead, he pulled Lu Hao's finger and scratched it with the hard leaves on his vine. Blood quickly flowed out from Lu Hao's finger and dripped in the direction of the jade slip.
As his blood level dropped, Lu Hao suddenly felt a suction force, followed by a change in the environment around him.
He and Su Jin were now sitting face to face on a rock. The surroundings were quiet and the air was fresh. Could Su Jin's ability also create such an illusion?
Su Jin looked at the confused Lu Hao, smiled slightly, and said, "This is the pendant you gave me. I stumbled upon it a few days ago. It must have been passed down from your ancestors, but I don't know why its functionality has been lost."
Afterwards, Su Jin took Lu Hao to visit the Lu residence. The two talked as they walked, although Su Jin did most of the explaining.
Lu Hao had never known the secrets of his family, nor had he heard of the pendant's unique uses. Therefore, he concluded that the pendant would choose its own owner, and only when it recognized a person would it open its own little world.
After hearing Lu Hao's inference, Su Jin also understood a little. However, this space was ultimately an heirloom in Lu Hao's family.
It took the two of them nearly an hour to walk around the entire Lu residence. There was no other way because the Lu residence was too big. Moreover, after walking around the side yards on the left, they had to walk back and go to the side yard on the right.
There are many rooms. In addition to being used for living, Su Jin plans to convert most of them into warehouses.
