Chapter 3 Lu Hao

Su Jin clicked the video call back button, and the call was picked up almost instantly. The light was dim, and he could only see the outline of the other party. From memory, it should be Lu Hao himself.

“…”

Seeing that the other party didn't speak, Su Jin had to take the initiative to speak: "I was just video chatting with my family, and I didn't get your call."

"Um"

“…”

What would happen if I said one more word? Su Jin tried hard to resist the urge to hang up the video.

"You, have you eaten?" Lu Hao finally realized what he wanted to say.

"Not yet. I just got to where I live and plan to go out for something to eat later."

"Okay, I'm on a mission and I'm still outside." Su Jin finally understood why it was always dark over there. Hearing that he was still on a mission so late at night, he felt that Lu Hao's work was really hard.

"Then you should be careful," Su Jin advised out of concern.

"Well, if you encounter any difficulties over there, you can tell me. I know someone in Province G who can help."

What difficulty could she possibly face? Yet there did seem to be one.

"Lu Hao, I don't need your people to help me, but I may need a little help from you." I wonder if Lu Hao would feel like his brain was broken after hearing his request.

"Okay, go ahead."

“…” What’s with the tone a superior uses towards his subordinates? I don’t want to talk anymore, what should I do?

But after all, she was asking for help from others, so Su Jin tried to smile. However, in Lu Hao's eyes, this seemed a bit flattering.

"Lu Hao, do you have any money? I mean, can you lend me some?"

Looking at his cute little wife trying hard to please him, Lu Hao felt his throat tighten a little.

Borrowing money? Isn't what's yours hers?

"Yes, I'll transfer it to your card tomorrow." Lu Hao said directly.

"!!!???" So arrogant? He didn't even ask how much he was borrowing?

"You don't even ask me how much I want to borrow?" Su Jin couldn't help but ask.

"I'm transferring all my savings to you. They were yours to begin with." Lu Hao felt a little incompetent. Wasn't it natural for a husband to give his wife his earnings? He actually forced her to borrow money.

Hearing Lu Hao so matter-of-factly say he'd hand over all his savings, Su Jin suddenly felt a surge of emotion. Listen, this is her, Su Jin's, man. What a domineering love!!! But as a criminal police captain, he probably didn't make much money. Although she had never known how much Lu Hao earned, Su Jin had a feeling that a formal government position like that wouldn't pay very well.

But these did not affect Su Jin's happy mood. She hung up the phone happily, said goodbye, and blew a kiss to Lu Hao through the air.

“…”

Lu Hao stared at the phone that had hung up the video call, stunned. His wife, who had been so shy since their marriage, had actually blown him a kiss? It was a little cute, what could he do? He really wanted to hug her tightly.

At this time, Yin Chengtian, who was sleeping on the upper bunk of Lu Hao, lowered his head and joked, "Captain, your sister-in-law and you are very affectionate."

"Can't sleep?" Lu Hao's voice, clearly eight degrees colder, came from the darkness. "If you can't sleep, come down and do 100 push-ups."

"No, Captain, I was about to fall asleep. I just overheard it!" Yin Chengtian wanted to slap himself twice. Why was he so mean to make fun of the captain's wife? She was the one the captain worshipped...

The mission of the team led by Lu Hao is to catch a criminal gang preparing to trade drugs after daybreak. According to the information from the informant, the group of suspects carrying drugs planned to trade in this old dormitory building, so Lu Hao and his team disguised themselves as plainclothes clothes a few days in advance and quietly moved into this dormitory building.

He and Yin Chengtian lived in a single room with bunk beds, waiting for the drug deal to happen at dawn.

If this mission is completed, maybe he can take some time off and spend some time with Su Jin at home. Thinking that Su Jin will be on a business trip for a month, Lu Hao started to feel depressed again.

Compared to the depressed Lu Hao, Su Jin was ready to go out to "find food" after resting enough in the hotel.

In fact, she had eaten the airplane meal on the plane, but after Su Jin realized that she was reborn, she felt uncomfortable with the emptiness in her stomach. She was so hungry that she could swallow a cow.

There was a food court near the hotel. Although it was crowded, Su Jin felt like he had seen heaven. Perhaps in another month, this peaceful and prosperous time would no longer be seen.

Su Jin bought two servings of stinky tofu and a serving of fried sausage in front of the stinky tofu stall. He ate the sausage while continuing to look for something to eat. The sausage was so delicious. Although it was junk food with little nutrition, the tempting aroma and crispy texture made Su Jin cry tears of happiness.

After visiting over a dozen stalls, Su Jin's hands were filled with food, which he couldn't carry. He had a few skewers of grilled gluten, a box of double-skin milk, a braised duck neck, and a box of pastries. So, Su Jin walked into a beef noodle shop to take a break. Of course, he couldn't forget to order the beef noodles—the large bowl with two servings of beef slices.

By the time Su Jin returned to the hotel entrance, she was so full she could barely walk. There was nothing she could do; she had been starving for two years! In the apocalypse, let alone filling her stomach, food production had ceased and food was in short supply. Even a bowl of hot porridge was considered a delicacy. Many people would sell anything for food, including friends and family, and even their own bodies. The apocalypse seemed like a film exposing human nature, laying bare the dirty dealings in every corner of the world. Sometimes, Su Jin felt that living in the apocalypse was hopeless, and she might as well just die. Even those zombies that ate human flesh lived more openly than humans.
