Chapter 154 The Jade Ring

"What do you mean 'why'? Doesn't Xiang'er's condition prove anything?" When Xiao's father heard Xiao An's name, he was already convinced that he couldn't let Xiang'er get hurt again today, no matter what.

“Alright, since that’s the case, then we have nothing more to say.” Jiang Ruan stood up, sighed, and then looked at Xiao’s mother and said, “What’s your opinion?”

This mother of Xiao differed from her father, and their opinions differed.

"Do you really not want our own daughter anymore, but want to protect this woman and her daughter? Do you think your brotherly affection is more important than our blood ties? Go ahead and cut ties, I will never do so."

Immediately afterwards, Xiao's mother grabbed Jiang Ruan and pulled her behind her to prevent Xiao's father from taking any further action.

"Do you even know what you're doing? She's married, has children, and has a chaotic social life. If we don't properly discipline her, how can we raise her? Do you all spoil her like you do? Look at Xiao Ran. If you didn't spoil him, would he be so irresponsible all the time, and we wouldn't even know where he is?"

Mr. Xiao ordered the group to surround the children, intending to force them to reveal the child's whereabouts and, incidentally, to teach his daughter a lesson.

Twenty years without education, what kind of person has he become?

Zhang Yang, Duan Yu, and the others' expressions changed drastically, and they all rushed over to protect Jiang Ruan.

Jiang Ruan waved her hand, gently pushed through the crowd, and pulled her mother Bai Xi back, "What I just said was wrong. The debt of giving birth to a child and the debt of raising a child cannot be ungrateful, so Mom, please move to the back. Zhang Yang, take good care of her."

Father Xiao frowned and stared as Jiang Ruan walked towards Xiao Xiang step by step, then reached out to stop her.

Just as tensions were about to rise, the guard who had been ordered to find and kill the hundred-odd zombies returned. "Chief, urgent report: I have found the person you asked me to find."

The guard rushed over, handed over the information he had found to Chief Xiao, and then took out a jade pendant from his pocket, which happened to belong to Xiao Xiang.

"This belongs to Xiang'er. Where did you find it?" Bai Lu, with her sharp eyes, immediately spotted the jade pendant that belonged exclusively to Xiao Xiang and was the strongest evidence of their initial family reunion. It was Xiao Xiang's.

Mr. Xiao looked quickly and carefully, and only after a long while did he raise his head. "Bai Xi, take your daughter back to your room to reflect on your mistakes and don't come out again. As for the child's matter, I don't have time to deal with your investigation right now. I will come to find you after I have dealt with these matters."

Turning to look at Xiao Xiang, who was crying incessantly at his feet, he spoke gently and calmly, "Xiang'er, come with me and tell me how you killed so many zombies."

Then, the group left in a grand procession, leaving only Xiao's mother, Bai Xi, with red-rimmed eyes.

“Mom, you’re tired. Go and rest. I’m fine, don’t worry.” Jiang Ruan pulled Xiao’s mother into the room, and after a long while, she continued, “Mom, do you want to see the child? He’s always been with us, he’s never gone far.”

Xiao's mother was stunned. She thought Jiang Ruan meant that the child was gone and had become a spirit following her, and that it was all Jiang Ruan's fantasy.

So the tears that had been held back burst forth once more.

"My poor daughter, what have you suffered..." Before she could finish speaking, a soft and adorable baby appeared before her, about two years old, babbling and able to speak.

"Hello Grandma, my name is Jiang Baiyuan, I am Mommy's baby. I am so happy to see you!" As soon as the little boy came out, he hugged Bai Xi's clothes tightly, shaking and acting cute.

Bai Xi was initially puzzled. She looked around thoroughly until she was certain that the child had appeared out of nowhere, at which point she exclaimed, "Ah!"

But she soon became infatuated with her cute and sweet-talking nephew. "Baiyuan, this is a wonderful name. I liked you the first time I saw you. Here, consider this a gift from your grandma."

Xiao's mother took off the ring on her hand, took out a red coil, wrapped it around her son's neck, and put it on.

Jiang Ruan was stunned when she saw the ring and quickly waved her hand to tell Xiao's mother not to send such an expensive gift.

Because only she knew that this ring was no ordinary thing. It was made of black jade and had the blessing of mysterious power. It was a medium for corpse control. With it, Gu An's mind could be stabilized and he could truly master this supernatural ability.

But how come she didn't notice just now that even if Xiao's mother didn't give it to her, keeping it herself could still serve as protection, at least it would be a deterrent to zombies.

"Mom, you keep it. Zai Zai will be fine. I will protect him." Jiang Ruan guessed that Xiao's mother must know the wonderful use of the ring.

“Silly child, Bai Yuan is so young, and you have to take care of yourself and others. How can you manage so many people by yourself? This ring is an heirloom, originally meant to be passed down to daughters, to you. Now that it’s been given to your son, we’ve broken that rule, and it’s nothing. The most important thing is that it can protect Bai Yuan.”

The little boy stared wide-eyed as he touched the necklace hanging around his neck. He was still young and didn't quite understand. Even though he had been wandering as a spirit for several years in his previous life, he had never communicated with anyone, so he didn't know anything about it.

I just think the colors are bright and very beautiful.

"Mom, I like this. Thank you, Grandma. I will wear it carefully and not embarrass you." The little one quickly accepted the pendant and did not have any reservations about it just because he already had grandparents.

In his view, whatever his mother said was the truth. Besides, he wasn't just playing around while he was in the space; observing his mother and helping her were the things he was most happy to do.

Therefore, he was fully aware of everything that had happened here.

Although I don't understand it very well, I can still gesture appropriately.

"Oh my, I love this child so much. Come here, let Grandma give him a hug." With that, Bai Xi picked up the baby, hugged him tightly, and kissed his face.

After a moment, Bai Xi raised her head, still holding her son tightly, and said, "Ruan'er, I'm not trying to morally blackmail you. Your father's actions are really too much, I can't stand it. But, how can Xiao Xiang be so capable? And where is your brother? I haven't seen him for so long."

Jiang Ruan stepped forward, looked firmly at Bai Xi, and said softly, "Mom, do you want to see dogs fight each other, or see what it means to reap what you sow? Don't worry, none of that matters. The real show is yet to come."

As for my brother, you don't need to worry about him. I will send people to find him and make sure he is safe and sound.

Looking at Jiang Ruan, who seemed somewhat different, Xiao's mother was surprised. She hadn't expected that all of this was under her daughter's control. She then smiled frankly and said, "Ruan'er, your mother doesn't have much ability. After getting married, I don't have much room to maneuver. If it can help you, I'm willing to swallow my pride and ask for help."

Xiao's mother always thought that this was a matter within the compound, and since Jiang Ruan was new to the area and not familiar with it, it would be more convenient for her to come.

"No need to trouble Mom, you just hold Baiyuan and enjoy the show."
