Jiang Ruan is a very good driver, and this car was bought by her parents specifically for her to use when commuting to and from get off work.
A pink Mercedes.
Squeezing the steering wheel, Jiang Ruan took a deep breath. To be honest, she was a little afraid to see her parents.
The tragedy of her previous life caused her immense pain, watching helplessly as her flesh and blood were separated, a feeling of having all her strength stripped away.
She swore it was truly suffocating.
So, rather than being afraid, it's more accurate to say she felt guilty towards her parents and didn't dare look at them.
But those are the people I trust the most right now, and I'm determined to protect them for the rest of my life.
After making peace with herself for a while, Jiang Ruan gently knocked on the door.
Jiang's father was cleaning the room when he heard the noise and opened the door. "Oh, Ruan Ruan is back!"
Jiang's father quickly put the tools behind the door, took Jiang Ruan's bag, and called into the inner room, "Wife, come out quickly and see, Ruan Ruan is here."
Jiang's mother ran out without even taking off the clip in her hair, and, suppressing her excitement, gave Jiang Ruan a hug.
"Ruan Ruan, Mom hasn't seen you in so long! You look even thinner than usual since you got pregnant?"
No matter what, your mother is always the first to notice that something is different about you.
Helped to sit on the sofa by her parents, Jiang Ruan's eyes welled up with tears at the long-lost warmth. "Dad, Mom, Ruan Ruan missed you so much."
Jiang's mother was already emotional, and when her daughter became upset and started to cry, she couldn't help but sob along with her.
Jiang's father looked at the two of them, his heart tightening. He put down his phone, ready to call and reprimand Du Ning. He knew that his daughter's behavior was definitely related to Du Ning.
"You, Du Ning, how could you bully my daughter like this? I'm going to settle this score with you!"
Seeing that Jiang's father had already taken out his phone, Jiang Ruan panicked. Now was not the time to know the truth. Du Ning's true colors could not be fully revealed yet.
So Jiang Ruan stopped her father, saying, "Dad, don't hit him, it has nothing to do with him."
"It's been so long since your daughter has seen you. She doesn't know what you're doing. She just misses you."
In fact, both of Jiang's parents were teachers at the same school; one was a math teacher and the other a dance teacher. They could be considered a couple from a scholarly family.
So, although they were somewhat dissatisfied with the union of Jiang Ruan and Du Ning, Du Ning's good performance and excellent grades at school were enough to reassure them.
Jiang's mother stroked the stray hairs by Jiang Ruan's ear, then gently touched her hair, feeling extremely sorry for her. "Ruan Ruan, why don't you move in here? Your father and I are bored, it will be more lively with you here."
A slight smile appeared on Jiang Ruan's lips. The fact that her parents were still doing well was the best thing that could happen to them.
"Mom, Dad, please listen to me first. I didn't come here because I suffered any injustice or because I have any requests for you. I had a dream that was very real and very shocking, so I wanted to tell you about it."
Next, Jiang Ruan spent about half an hour telling her parents everything about the apocalypse. Whether they believed it or not, she had to make sure they were fully prepared and couldn't be as pathetic as they were in their previous life.
a long time......
Jiang's father got up and circled the coffee table a few times before sitting down next to Jiang Ruan. "You mean, that kid Du Ning still betrayed you, and not only that, he also killed my little grandson, and ruined my life and your mother's?"
"He really is such a bastard!!!"
Jiang's father recalled what people in the office had said about Du Ning: she was only nice on the surface, and actually just an average person. Back then, his daughter liked her, and he had his own biases. Now, it seemed the rumors weren't entirely unfounded.
Jiang's mother was even more furious. "Fine, whether this is a dream or reality, the thought that it might be true makes me want to kick him away. How dare he? Doesn't he remember how he begged us to help him? He's repaying kindness with enmity."
Jiang Ruan appeared much calmer at this point. "Mom and Dad, this is just a dream. We'll find out what Du Ning is like as we get to know him in the future. There's no real or fake in this. However, we must be wary of the unusual celestial phenomena."
Just then, a news item popped up on Jiang's father's phone about a sudden earthquake in a southern region. A 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck Luxian County, Jiangzhou City, with a focal depth of 9 kilometers. The nearby villages are densely populated, so the damage was severe.
Jiang's father looked at the news with a solemn expression. Seeing so many soldiers rushing to the front line for disaster relief, he felt an indescribable sadness. "This is the 51st earthquake this year. There has never been anything like this in previous years."
"It seems that Ruan Ruan's dream might be a warning. Even if it's false, we should still take it seriously."
Jiang's mother had no objections; she believed it too, as there had indeed been more weather disasters recently. "Ruan Ruan, did you come to see us because you have some thoughts on your mind? Talk to your parents about it. We'll listen to everything you have to say."
Jiang's parents only had this one daughter, and they had never doubted her character or anything about her. They didn't believe their daughter would scheme to deceive them. So, seeing Jiang Ruan's thoughtful expression, they knew that their daughter must have made up her mind before coming to them.
Jiang Ruan had nothing to be proud of, except for her enlightened parents, who were her biggest barrier.
"Mom, take a look at this."
Jiang Ruan took out the jade pendant from her pocket and showed it to her mother in her palm.
Jiang's mother naturally knew this; it was she who gave it to Jiang Ruan. "Isn't this from Mom? What's wrong?"
Jiang Ruan placed the jade pendant on the coffee table and chuckled, "This is the most amazing thing I just told you about, and also the most valuable thing for survival in the apocalypse."
Jiang's mother only knew that the jade pendant was passed down, but she really didn't know what secret it held. So she scratched her head and thought for a while, but couldn't figure it out. "Ruan Ruan, how do you use this jade pendant?"
Jiang's father also examined it closely. Apart from its unique design, there was nothing unusual about the jade pendant.
Jiang Ruan got up, picked up a fruit knife from the other end of the coffee table, and quickly cut her middle finger, dripping blood onto the center of the jade pendant.
Jiang's parents were startled. They never expected Jiang Ruan to suddenly act and hurt herself. "Ruan Ruan!!"
The two of them screamed simultaneously.
Mr. Jiang quickly took out some band-aids from the medicine box, and Mrs. Jiang disinfected them first before helping to put them on.
"Ruan Ruan, what's wrong with you? You're so reckless! How could you hurt yourself?"
Jiang Ruan covered her wound, patted her parents' hands to comfort them, and then looked at the jade pendant.
The jade pendant, stained with blood, quickly faded and began to tremble. It then shrank at a visible speed, slowly transforming into a beam of light that struck Jiang Ruan's forehead before falling silent.
