The next day!
"Jiang Ruan, good news, great news!"
Just as dawn broke, Wan Mei rushed in with her phone in hand, before Jiang Ruan had even gotten out of bed.
"What's wrong? What happened... Ouch... Tell me quickly." Jiang Ruan pulled her right leg, which was being pressed down by Gu An, slowly got up, and said with a grin.
"You guessed right, the zombies are really gone, and many geological disasters have stopped. The world has returned to normal. Although reconstruction will take time, it's not a difficult task for us."
Wanmei's voice was excited; just thinking about it, she could see Wanmei standing outside the door with a smiling face, holding up her phone.
Six months ago, Jiang Ruan took Gu An and Zai Zai to the national base headquarters, where all the equipment was destroyed by a sudden volcanic eruption, and the lava once again plunged humanity's hopes into darkness.
It was Zaizai who used all his strength to restore everything to its original state. Zaizai said that this was his mission and his inescapable responsibility.
It was only then that Jiang Ruan realized that Zai Zai had long ago planned to sacrifice himself for the sake of the whole world and for the sake of humanity.
As she lay dying, Jiang Ruan held her son, who was already twenty years old, handsome and charming yet resolute in his heart.
“Mom, you once said that good and evil are only a moment apart, and that when people have good intentions and the ability, they should understand everyone. So, I did it. I don’t want you to experience all that terrible stuff again. So, since the phoenix has chosen me, I must use it to bring peace to everyone.” Jiang Ruan sobbed uncontrollably, tears blurring her vision, her heart filled with grief and helplessness.
She remembered her mother's teachings and understood that good and evil are separated by a single thought, and that when she possessed power, she should use it to protect everyone. Now, she has finally achieved this goal, but at the cost of losing the person she loved most.
Jiang Ruan couldn't accept this fact; she felt a tearing pain in her heart. Zai Zai was gone, and she was plunged into deep despair and self-blame. She blamed herself for not protecting him better, for not recognizing the danger sooner.
During this time, Jiang Ruan became utterly despondent. She was no longer as energetic and hopeful as before, but instead wallowed in a deep abyss of sorrow and self-blame. She sat silently in her room all day, recalling every moment she spent with Zai Zai, tears streaming down her face.
However, no matter how much she cried and regretted, she couldn't change the fact that had already happened. Jiang Ruan understood that she had to face reality and move on. Although the pain would forever remain in her heart, she decided to use Zai Zai's departure as motivation to protect everyone more firmly and prevent similar tragedies from happening again.
So, six months after Zaizai left, she released the space and distributed supplies to everyone in need.
Finally, six months later, the world returned to its original state.
"You did it, and I thank you on behalf of everyone."
Gu An stroked Jiang Ruan's hair to comfort her. He knew that Jiang Ruan had never had such a relieved smile since Zai Zai left.
"Gu An, I saw Zai Zai."
"What!"
"Look, he's right there."
Gu An turned his head in disbelief and saw Zai Zai rushing towards them through the window.
The two rushed out, and under Wan Mei's astonished gaze and the puzzled stares of everyone in the house, they opened the door and hugged the baby into their arms.
......
The little boy smiled happily, "reborn from the ashes like a phoenix," this was his destiny, and also Jiang Ruan's.
Jiang Ruan will continue to lead Zai Zai to meet new challenges in the future!
