Chapter 34 Cleaning Up the Mess

Jiang Ruan called it a superpower.

"You said you were transformed automatically after the weather changed, and the trigger was the jade pendant you mentioned to me before?" An Xia seemed to understand but not quite, after all, she had only seen superpowers in novels, such as flying and diving, and this was the first time she had encountered one in reality.

"Pretty much. I think everyone has their own opportunity to awaken their superpowers. Otherwise, in this apocalypse, relying solely on cold weapons and human unity is sometimes not enough to completely break the deadlock," Jiang Ruan said with a sense of reflection.

Her past life was full of twists and turns, which served as lessons for this life, allowing her to avoid many detours.

"What about me?" Anxia touched her forehead, rummaged in her pockets, and found that she didn't have anything that could be called a trigger. Did that mean that she was just an ordinary person without any special abilities?

Upon realizing this outcome, her previous joy vanished, and she squatted on the ground, looking somewhat dejected.

"Hey, let me do some calculations for you. I have precognitive abilities, you know. I can tell with a snap of my fingers that you'll probably awaken soon. And you'll be pretty powerful," Jiang Ruan whispered to An Xia as she approached her.

"What is it?" An Xia suddenly felt alive again, looking at Jiang Ruan expectantly, waiting for her answer.

Jiang Ruan moved even closer and said in a voice only the two of them could hear, "You know, you can control zombies!"

The words "controlling zombies" magnified infinitely in An Xia's mind, giving her goosebumps.

She looked down blankly at the wreckage on the ground that hadn't been cleaned up yet, swallowed hard, and took two steps back. "No, no, don't joke around. I don't think your precognitive abilities are good enough. You definitely can't do it."

Jiang Ruan looked startled when she saw An Xia, then suddenly burst into laughter.

Actually, she wasn't making things up. If she remembered correctly, in her previous life, An Xia accidentally obtained a fruit that had been soaked in zombie blood and then infused with rootless water, transforming it from completely unripe to a sweet fruit.

Jiang Ruan couldn't remember where she got it, but she was certain that the fruit existed.

Moreover, the fruit seems to have a master; it only works on Anxia. Anyone else who eats it will be poisoned and die within three minutes.

"Don't laugh, the more you laugh, the scarier I get. I don't want to be around these things." An Xia frowned, picking at her fingers with a worried expression, concerned about her future.

"Alright, you might think they're just scary right now, but you'll find them kind of cute later." Jiang Ruan casually put away the blue sword and started cleaning up the dirt on the floor with a mop.

"Cute?" An Xia also picked up a handful, but looking at the strange-smelling limbs on the ground, she felt nauseous. "How can this be cute!"

Jiang Ruan said they would become cute in the future. She thought to herself, even if they changed again and were given more than ten years to evolve, they would not become cute. They would definitely become more and more frightening.

Thinking of this, she moved her hands faster, wanting to quickly throw these things out of the room and get those terrible worries out of her mind.

"Ah, um..." Wan Mei came out, supporting her waist, and saw Jiang Ruan and An Xia throwing one arm into the trash can. The floor, stained with green blood, looked eerie and terrifying under the bright lights, which startled her.

"Wanmei, you scared me!" Anxia almost tripped and fell into the pile of corpses when she heard Wanmei's voice, so she started complaining without turning her head to look at her.

Wan Mei slowly moved over, "You, you, you were startled? I was the one who was startled!"

“You’re here just in time. We’ve almost finished cleaning up these things. Come and throw this away. We can work together so no one gets tired.” Anxia handed the mop to Wanmei, who had come over, and it went into her hands quite naturally.

"Ah, no, sister, don't give it to me! I can't stand these things, I'm squeamish about blood." She pretended to faint, but Anxia grabbed her arm.

"Stop. If anyone else said they were afraid of blood, I would believe it. Even if Zhang Yang came, I could barely believe it. But you said it, I don't believe it at all. You are a doctor, a caregiver, and a capable person who combines Chinese and Western medicine. You are telling me that you are afraid of blood?"

"Who was the person who just examined Li Ming's leg and offered to treat his injury? Was it a ghost?"

"Hehehe, this kind?" Anxia said, making a face at Wanmei before collapsing onto the sofa, claiming it was to relieve fatigue.

Jiang Ruan smiled helplessly as she watched the two bickering. She had long expected that it would be lively when the two of them got together, because they were both lively and cute, and they had their own ideas, so it was inevitable that they would make a bit of noise and play.

She and Wanmei finished cleaning up the things together and threw them into the large trash can by the door.

We just had a major attack; the zombies in the mall have been almost all killed. As for those in the city, judging from the sounds coming from afar, they haven't decreased much.

Before closing the door, Jiang Ruan glanced at the neatly repaired door frame and paused for a moment. Had the zombies fixed it, or had they accidentally bumped into it while rushing in? Was it just a coincidence?

With this question in mind, she closed the door and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the clean and bright floor.

Finally, she didn't have to face the scene from just now. Not to mention An Xia felt disgusted, she, who had experienced a lifetime, felt even more disgusted because she could recall all the things from her past life at any time. It was like a nightmare, and it would take her a long time to truly digest it.

"Oh right, you just said Jiang Yan is gone, dead? What exactly happened?" After busying herself for so long, Jiang Ruan finally remembered the thing she had somewhat overlooked.

"Oh, right, right, I was so scared I forgot. You should go and check on him right away. After all, it's a human life. We can't just let it go like that."

"Besides, isn't he supposed to be part of the national investigation team? If this gets them into legal trouble, it's like going against the country. We can't do something like that." Reminded of this, An Xia jumped up from the sofa, ignoring her exhaustion, and dragged Jiang Ruan to find Jiang Yan.

The shopping mall was partitioned off, and double-layered soundproofing panels were specially added, so each space and room can achieve 89% sound insulation, and therefore people inside will not know what is happening outside.

This is why, apart from the parties involved, everyone else in the living room was completely bewildered by the fight.

"You're here. Why are there so many green spots on you? Is it paint?" An Chun was immediately drawn to the colors on Jiang Ruan's clothes when she saw her. It looked like she had been tie-dyed, which was quite artistic.

"My silly sister, this is zombie blood!" Anxia pushed Anchun away. This timid sister of hers was someone she had to worry about.

"What did you say!!!"
