Chapter 2 Discussion
Gu Yanzhi tried to recount the events after the apocalypse in a light and concise tone, and aside from some key points, he only briefly mentioned his own experiences.
However, as she spoke, her voice choked up, not only because of her own difficult struggle to survive, but also because of the daily torment and longing she felt as the only one left to live.
Revenge was her only motivation to live. Every night, endless loneliness, longing, and regret tormented her.
After listening to Gu Yanzhi's story, the living room remained silent for a long time.
After a long while, Song Zhao got up from his seat and hugged her tightly, his eyes full of heartache.
Although she didn't say many things, it's not hard to guess how difficult it was for Gu Yanzhi, a girl, to live in such a chaotic apocalypse, and how she even avenged them.
Gu Yanlin also got up from his seat and hugged his sister, and the three of them hugged each other tightly.
It's hard to imagine how my older sister, who was pampered from a young age, managed to get through those ten years of hardship.
Gu Yanlin is 18 years old this year and just finished the college entrance examination last month. After the exam, he relaxed and read some novels, including some about the apocalypse. He never expected that his older sister was a survivor of the apocalypse.
Gu Yanlin couldn't imagine how much his sister had endured, but he was certain that her experiences were far more complex than he had described.
Thinking of this, Gu Yanlin's eyes slowly welled up with tears.
Feeling her clothes were damp, Gu Yanzhi broke free from their embrace and pulled out a tissue to wipe Gu Yanlin's tears. "Don't be sad. I'm fine again now. This time, the three of us will work together to survive the apocalypse. We have a lot of things to do next."
After saying that, Gu Yanzhi picked up the milk tea on the table and took a deep sip. She missed the food from before the apocalypse so much, and she was determined to eat her fill for the next few months.
Seeing that Gu Yanzhi had relaxed, Song Zhao and Gu Yanlin calmed down a bit. Song Zhao asked, "Zhizhi, is your space still there?"
"Oh, I was so excited I almost forgot. I'll try it now." Gu Yanzhi slapped her forehead. She had almost forgotten something so important.
As he spoke, Gu Yanzhi put the milk tea in his hand into his spatial dimension and then put it out again.
"It's still here! Now we can stock up on even more stuff. Hot pot, milk tea, barbecue, cake—get me everything! I'm dying to get it!" Gu Yanzhi exclaimed excitedly upon realizing the space was still there.
"So what should we do now?" If Gu Yanlin were to see something like this suddenly disappear and then reappear normally, he would be incredibly surprised, but now he only felt a pang of heartache.
This further confirms that what his sister said was true. He has now found Gu Qiang and his son and made them pay for their crimes in blood to avenge his parents and sister.
Unfortunately, reason told him that this was still a society governed by the rule of law, and he couldn't do anything illegal in broad daylight. For now, he could only think about what to do to prepare for the apocalypse.
Song Zhao got up and left, but soon returned with her computer and sat down next to Gu Yanzhi.
"How big is Zhizhi's storage space? We need to plan what we need to stock up on based on the size of Zhizhi's storage space," Song Zhao said as he opened the notepad on his computer, ready to take notes at any time.
"It's about the size of two football fields now," Gu Yanzhi said, feeling the size of the space as he spoke.
"Not only do we need to make a purchase list, but we also need to change our houses. We'll buy all the houses on the same floor and renovate them together."
"Isn't our current place pretty good? Or can't we just move back to the villa area? There's more space there, fewer people, so it should be safer, right?" Gu Yanlin asked, puzzled.
The apartment they are currently in is a large, single-level apartment on the 33rd floor with two units per floor. Apart from the apartment where Gu Yanzhi and Song Zhao live, the apartment next door belongs to Gu Yanlin. It was a house that Gu's parents specially bought for the two siblings to live together.
"The first natural disaster of the apocalypse was flooding. By the time the torrential rain stopped, the water was about six stories high, and the villa area was already submerged."
“This one won’t work either, it’s too high. The elevator won’t work after the power goes out, and it’s too much trouble to go up and down the stairs,” Gu Yanzhi explained.
She lived here in her past life. Every time she went out and came back, she was exhausted from climbing the stairs. It was also difficult to carry large items upstairs.
"Let's move to Jinxiu Leiting. It's newly built there, and they reserved houses for us. There aren't many people living there yet."
Song Zhao quickly scanned their properties in the city in his mind. Jinxiu Leiting was a new residential development under the Gu Group, which had just been handed over to residents last month. Song Zhao had reserved several units in the best locations in the development. Originally intended as one of the new homes, he had kept a close eye on the construction process, using only the best materials to ensure the quality of the buildings.
Moreover, the highest floor of this apartment building is only 18 stories, which makes it much easier to move around.
After another round of discussion, the dinner that Song Zhao had ordered in advance arrived just as the three of them had finished making their list.
The air was filled with the aroma of various foods, stimulating Gu Yanzhi's taste buds. The aroma was so enticing that she almost drooled.
Before the delivery person could even set out all the food, Gu Yanzhi picked up a piece of food with her chopsticks and put it in her mouth. It was a delicious meal she hadn't had in almost ten years, and it still tasted just like she remembered. It was so delicious!
Considering the presence of strangers in the house, Gu Yanzhi screamed inwardly.
Guessing that Gu Yanzhi might not have eaten normal food for a long time, Song Zhao ordered a variety of dishes that Gu Yanzhi usually likes. However, because there were so many dishes, in order to avoid waste, Song Zhao specifically asked that they be made in small portions, enough for three people.
Braised pork belly, boiled fish, roast duck, dry pot shrimp, king crab, lion's head meatballs, Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, boiled cabbage in clear broth, mushrooms and greens... and several kinds of desserts, each one tantalizing Gu Yanzhi's taste buds.
