After deciding to venture into the city ruins to search for research materials and clues related to the causes of the apocalypse, Su Yao began preparations. She carefully selected some suitable high-tech equipment, placed it in her preservation space, and also brought sufficient energy and emergency medical supplies.
When they set off, the frigid weather outside was still brutal, with howling winds and blizzards seemingly trying to halt their progress. Su Yao used her special ability to create a relatively warm energy shield around the group, leading her family towards the city ruins.
Along the way, they encountered many creatures mutated by the extreme environment. There were enormous, spider-like ice beasts that crawled swiftly across the snow, spitting out sharp ice spikes at them; and winged ice birds that swooped down from the sky to attack. Su Yao used her spatial and fusion abilities to repel these creatures time and time again, protecting her family.
After a difficult trek, they finally arrived at the edge of the city ruins. The place was deathly silent; most of the high-rise buildings had collapsed, and the broken walls were covered with thick snow and ice, resembling a white tomb.
Upon entering the ruins, the system prompted: "There is complex energy interference nearby, which may affect your abilities and navigation." Su Yao proceeded cautiously, observing her surroundings with vigilance with each step.
Suddenly, they heard a low rumble, and the ground beneath their feet began to shake violently. Su Yao looked up and saw a huge, long-destroyed mech slowly rising from the ruins. The mech's outer shell was covered in rust and frost, but its weapon systems gleamed with a dangerous light.
"Everyone be careful!" Su Yao shouted. The mech fired a laser beam at them, and Su Yao quickly used her spatial abilities to teleport her family behind the nearby ruins. The laser beam struck the ground, sending up a cloud of snow and debris.
Su Yao knew they had to find a way to destroy the mecha, otherwise they wouldn't be able to go any further. She observed that the mecha was moving somewhat sluggishly, and there were obvious signs of wear on its joints, presumably due to a lack of maintenance over a long period of time.
She decided to target the mecha's joints, activating her Space Blade ability and attacking the mecha's leg joints. The Space Blade struck the mecha's joint, sending sparks flying, but the mecha's defenses were extremely strong, leaving only a shallow mark on the joint.
Just then, the mech spotted Su Yao's location. It raised its massive mechanical foot and stomped down on Su Yao and the others. Su Yao used her spatial abilities to dodge again, while simultaneously activating her fire abilities to try and heat the mech's joints, making its metal structure more fragile.
Under the continuous onslaught of fire-based abilities, the mecha's joints began to glow red and heat up. Seizing the opportunity, Su Yao activated her spatial blade and wind-blade-infused abilities again, focusing her attacks on the mecha's already heated joints. This time, the mecha's leg joints finally gave way, emitting a metallic cracking sound, and the mecha crashed to the ground.
Having dealt with the mech threat, they continued deeper into the city ruins. Before a partially collapsed research building, the system announced: "The signal source for the research data clues has been detected inside this building." Su Yao led her family into the building.
The building was dark and damp, filled with a pungent chemical smell. Exposed electrical wires on the walls flickered with sparks. They walked cautiously down the corridor when suddenly, a swarm of small, mechanical cockroaches emerged from a nearby room. These mechanical cockroaches, with their hard exoskeletons and corrosive liquid, crawled densely towards them, spraying corrosive liquid from their mouths.
Su Yao activated her wind blade ability, slicing down the approaching mechanical cockroaches, but there were simply too many of them, swarming in relentlessly. Her family members also grabbed weapons and fought back. Su Yao discovered that the mechanical cockroaches seemed to be controlled by some kind of signal, so she instructed the system to locate the source of the signal.
With the system's help, Su Yao located the signal transmitter controlling the mechanical cockroaches and destroyed it using her spatial abilities. The out-of-control mechanical cockroaches immediately became chaotic and disorderly, allowing Su Yao and her family to wipe them out completely.
Continuing their exploration of the building, they arrived at a basement entrance. The basement door was tightly closed, with a combination lock nearby. The system began attempting to crack the code, and while waiting, Su Yao could sense strong energy fluctuations emanating from the basement.
After the password was cracked, the door slowly opened. The basement was filled with various experimental equipment and computers. In the center of the basement was a huge energy crystal pillar, with many data cables connected to it. Around it were several screens that flickered with light, displaying complex charts and data.
Su Yao approached the crystal pillar. The system notification read: "This contains a large amount of research data on the origins of the apocalypse, but a special decoding program is required to read it." Su Yao began searching for the decoding program in the basement. In a corner, she found a storage chip. After inserting the chip into the computer, the system began automatically decoding the data.
While waiting for the data to be decoded, Su Yao was filled with anticipation. Perhaps this information could unlock the mystery of the apocalypse and help them find a way to end this cruel world.
Finally, the data decoding was complete. Su Yao began to examine these precious documents, her gaze growing increasingly solemn, for the apocalyptic truths revealed within far exceeded her expectations…
