Chapter 12 Food Reserve Plan

Su Yao knew that rice, flour, and cooking oil were the foundation of survival, while meat and seafood could provide the necessary nutrition for life in the apocalypse. She began a new round of large-scale purchasing.

She first went to the grain wholesale market, her eyes fixed on the mountains of rice and flour, her gaze resolute and fervent. She meticulously selected bags of rice, choosing plump, firm grains—high-quality varieties suitable for long-term storage. The flour was no exception; she chose both high-gluten and low-gluten flour, sufficient for making simple pancakes and more complex dishes. In the grain and oil section, barrels of cooking oil were loaded onto trucks, from common corn oil to more durable lard—she didn't overlook any. These oils are crucial in cooking, adding flavor and calories to food.

For meat, Su Yao contacted several large meat processing plants. She purchased large quantities of frozen beef, pork, and chicken. These meats underwent rigorous processing and packaging, allowing for long-term preservation at low temperatures. Beef is rich in protein and iron, pork fat provides a unique texture during cooking, and chicken is relatively easy to cook and digest. Looking at the freezers filled with chunks of meat, she could almost picture her family enjoying hearty meals even in the apocalypse. There were also various canned meats, such as luncheon meat and braised beef, which are convenient to eat and require no additional cooking, making them the best option in an emergency.

The seafood purchase was also in full swing. Su Yao selected various seafood products that could be stored for a long time at the seafood market. There were frozen shrimp and fish, which are rich in high-quality protein and unsaturated fatty acids. The shrimp were neatly arranged in the packaging boxes, and the fish were processed before freezing, each one retaining its fresh texture. She also bought some dried seafood, such as dried scallops and dried squid, which have an advantage in terms of storage and can be cooked after simple soaking.

As the amount of supplies she purchased increased, Su Yao realized she needed sufficient storage space. She began searching for a suitable warehouse on the outskirts of the city. After some investigation, she rented a large, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. The warehouse walls were sturdy, and the door was airtight, effectively preventing external damage. She neatly stacked rice, flour, and cooking oil on one side of the warehouse, separating them by type and expiration date for easy management and retrieval. Meat and seafood were stored in the warehouse's low-temperature freezer section, and she also installed some backup refrigeration equipment to ensure a stable frozen environment.

However, Su Yao had another secret weapon—her spatial storage. This magical space had a preservation function, giving her a significant advantage in stockpiling goods. Every time she moved supplies from the warehouse, she would secretly store a portion into her space. She divided rice, flour, and cooking oil into small portions and slowly placed them into her space. These ordinary grains seemed to be frozen in time within the space, always maintaining their optimal condition. The same applied to meat and seafood. She placed some precious varieties, such as fresh salmon and top-quality steaks, into her space, and thanks to the space's preservation effect, these foods remained as fresh as if they had just been bought from the market.

She meticulously categorized everything within the space, much like in a warehouse. Each type of supply had its own designated area, allowing her to easily find what she needed. The space's preservation function ensured that food wouldn't spoil, and even during the long post-apocalyptic period, these supplies would provide her and her family with ample energy. Su Yao busily moved between the warehouse and the space, knowing that rice, flour, cooking oil, meat, and seafood were crucial for their survival in the apocalypse, and she wanted to ensure that every single item would be available when most needed.
