Chapter 126 Escape from the Ice Pit

Su Yao and Ling Yu carefully left the mountain fortress, carrying the supplies from the warehouse and the secret documents. At this time, the outside world was still covered in ice and snow, with howling winds threatening to devour everything.

They followed a winding mountain road, and the system alerted them to an abandoned military base ahead that might contain supplies. However, the road to the base was not smooth, and many traps and dangers were hidden under the snow.

As they walked, Su Yao suddenly felt the snow beneath her feet become soft, and she quickly grabbed Ling Yu. Just then, the surrounding snow collapsed, and they fell into a huge ice pit. The ice pit was smooth as a mirror, making it difficult to climb out, and a pungent smell permeated the bottom.

Su Yao activated the system scan and discovered some moving figures at the bottom of the ice pit, resembling some kind of mutated creature. Ling Yu gripped his ice blade, preparing for battle. A moment later, a group of creatures resembling both wolves and leopards emerged from the shadows. Their fur was an eerie ice-blue, and their eyes gleamed with a bloodthirsty light.

These ice wolf leopards moved swiftly, pouncing towards Su Yao and Ling Yu. Su Yao used spatial teleportation to dodge the attacks with Ling Yu, while simultaneously unleashing wind blades that shot towards the ice wolf leopards. The wind blades sliced through the ice wolf leopards' bodies, leaving wounds, but they seemed oblivious to the pain, continuing their frenzied attack.

Ling Yu used his ice-based abilities to create ice spikes around him, attempting to block the Ice Wolf Leopard's charge. However, the Ice Wolf Leopard easily jumped over the ice spikes and continued its attack. Su Yao discovered that these creatures were attracted to crystals emitting a peculiar scent at the bottom of the pit, and they were guarding these crystals.

Su Yao and Ling Yu fought their way closer to the crystal. As they approached, they discovered that the energy emanating from the crystal could affect the movements of the ice wolf leopards. Su Yao used her spatial abilities to envelop the crystal and store it in her spatial dimension, instantly throwing the ice wolf leopards into disarray. They seized the opportunity to launch an attack, annihilating all the ice wolf leopards.

Afterwards, Su Yao used her spatial abilities to carry Ling Yu away from the ice pit. Continuing onward, they finally arrived at the abandoned military base. The base's gates were tightly closed, and the surrounding area was filled with rusty barbed wire and landmines.

Su Yao used the system to locate a safe path, and the two cautiously entered the base. The base was desolate; most of the buildings had collapsed. They searched the ruins and found some old weapons and ammunition, but no further valuable supplies.

Deep within the base lay a relatively well-preserved underground bunker. They entered, the air thick with the smell of stale engine oil. The bunker contained many rooms, which they searched one by one.

In a laboratory-like room, Su Yao discovered some experimental records and several vials of mysterious potions. The system indicated that these potions could enhance supernatural abilities, but their use carried certain risks. Just as they were about to collect the potions, an alarm suddenly sounded in the bunker, and lights flashed.

It turned out that the base's defense system had been triggered, and a group of mechanical soldiers poured in from various passages. These mechanical soldiers were well-equipped and heavily armed. Ling Yu quickly created a thick ice wall at the entrance, temporarily blocking the mechanical soldiers' attack.

Su Yao was searching for the defense system's control terminal, which she found in the main control room of the bunker. However, the terminal was protected by an energy shield and required a password to be cracked. Su Yao's system began attempting to crack it, while Ling Yu struggled to fend off the mechanical soldiers' attacks.

The ice wall began to crack under the relentless attacks of the mechanical soldiers, and Ling Yu's pressure mounted. Just as the ice wall was about to collapse, Su Yao successfully cracked the code and deactivated the defense system. The mechanical soldiers instantly ceased their actions.

They breathed a sigh of relief and continued searching for cover. In a warehouse, they found a large quantity of warm clothing, food, and medical supplies. These supplies greatly replenished their reserves.

After leaving the military base, Su Yao and Ling Yu decided to head to a nearby survivor settlement. They had heard of a wise man who might be able to decipher the information obtained from the mountain fortress.

On their way to the rendezvous point, they encountered a rare ice storm. Gale-force winds carrying massive chunks of ice howled in, forcing them to seek shelter. Inside a cave, they discovered strange symbols and murals that seemed to be related to the origins of the apocalypse.

Su Yao used the system to record these symbols and murals, hoping to find more clues. After the ice storm subsided, they continued their journey, filled with anticipation for the future and prepared to face even greater challenges, because every search for supplies was for better survival and to change the current situation in this apocalyptic world.
