Chapter 264 Ice Cream for Heat Relief and the Reappearance of Crisis

Inside the safe house, Su Yao rummaged through the milk tea popsicles and ice cream she had stockpiled before the apocalypse. These once delicious desserts had now become precious cooling treasures. She shared the popsicles and ice cream with her parents, and the family sat together, enjoying this moment of coolness.

As the ice melted, the temperature inside the house was temporarily brought under control, but Su Yao knew this was not a long-term solution. She activated the system again to search the vicinity of the safe house for any other usable resources or potential dangers.

The system indicates that there is an abandoned food processing plant three kilometers to the northwest. It may contain a large amount of ice-making equipment and frozen food that hasn't completely spoiled; obtaining these resources would greatly increase their chances of survival in the high-temperature apocalypse. However, the area is frequently infested with high-temperature mutated creatures, making it extremely dangerous.

Without hesitation, Su Yao stood up and began preparing her travel gear. She took out a sharp, supernatural longsword from her spatial storage; this sword had proven its worth in previous battles and could easily cleave through hard objects. She also packed several bottles of power-restoring potions and some protective talismans—life-saving items she had accumulated through countless adventures.

"Mom and Dad, I'm going to an abandoned food processing plant in the northwest to try and find more ice-making equipment and food. You two must be careful inside and don't open the door unnecessarily," Su Yao instructed her parents.

Although her parents were filled with worry, they knew that only Su Yao had the ability to find more resources for survival. Her mother held her hand tightly, tears welling in her eyes: "Yao Yao, you must come back safely."

Su Yao gently patted her mother's hand and comforted her, "Mom, don't worry, I'll come back."

After saying that, she put on her heat-insulating cloak, activated her supernatural shield, and resolutely stepped out of the safe house.

As soon as she stepped outside, the scorching heat hit her like a raging wave, making Su Yao feel as if she were inside a giant furnace. She activated her supernatural abilities, forming an even stronger energy shield around her body, and then sped off in the northwest.

Along the way, the ground was parched and cracked by the intense heat, with scalding steam and lava spewing from the fissures. Su Yao carefully avoided these dangers while remaining wary of the high-temperature mutated creatures that might appear at any moment.

As she approached the waste food processing plant, a pungent, putrid stench assaulted her nostrils. Su Yao frowned; she knew there was definitely danger lurking inside. She slowed her pace, cautiously observing her surroundings.

Suddenly, a swarm of mutated rats burst out of the processing plant. These rats were enormous, with eyes flashing a fierce red light and teeth as sharp as knives. Under the influence of the high temperature, they became abnormally agitated and ferocious.

Su Yao swiftly gripped her supernatural longsword, chanting a defensive incantation that created an energy barrier in front of her. The mutated rats swarmed towards Su Yao, attempting to break through her defenses. Su Yao wielded her longsword, its blade flashing, each strike slaying the leading mutated rat.

However, the mutated rats were too numerous, surging in like a tide, gradually putting Su Yao in a difficult situation. During the battle, her arm was bitten by a mutated rat, and blood flowed freely. Su Yao endured the pain, took out a bottle of recovery potion from her spatial storage, and drank it all in one gulp.

As the potion took effect, Su Yao's strength and abilities were partially restored. Her eyes turned cold, and she decided to launch a powerful attack. She concentrated her abilities on her longsword, which instantly shone brightly. Su Yao swung the sword, unleashing a powerful energy wave that swept towards the horde of mutated rats. The mutated rats were struck by this energy wave and collapsed dead.

Su Yao breathed a sigh of relief and entered the abandoned food processing plant. The plant was a mess, with various equipment and ingredients scattered all over the floor. Su Yao activated the system's search function and began looking for ice-making equipment and frozen ingredients.

In the processing plant's basement, she found several intact ice machines and a large quantity of frozen meat and fruit. Su Yao was overjoyed. She stored all the supplies in her spatial storage and prepared to return to the safe house.

Just as she turned to leave, a low roar suddenly came from the basement. Su Yao was startled; she knew there was definitely an even greater danger lurking within. She warily looked in the direction of the sound, gripping her supernatural longsword tightly in her hand.

A gigantic mutated bear slowly emerged from the darkness. This bear was enormous, its entire body covered in a layer of tough fur, its eyes gleaming with a ferocious light. It opened its blood-red maw, revealing sharp fangs, and pounced towards Su Yao.

Su Yao swiftly dodged to the side, then swung her knife at the mutated bear's back. The bear, in pain, turned and swung its paw at Su Yao. Su Yao quickly retreated; she knew this mutated bear was incredibly strong and she couldn't fight it head-on.

She began running quickly around the mutated bear, searching for its weak point. During the run, Su Yao noticed that the bear's belly was relatively soft. Seizing the opportunity, she leaped high into the air and thrust her long knife towards the bear's abdomen.

The mutated bear let out a deafening roar, twisting its body wildly in an attempt to throw Su Yao off. Su Yao gripped the longsword tightly, continuously channeling her supernatural energy into it, and the tip of the sword slowly pierced into the mutated bear's abdomen.

After a fierce battle, Su Yao finally managed to kill the mutated bear. Exhausted, she walked out of the abandoned food processing plant and headed towards the safe house.

When she returned to the safe house with the precious supplies, she was exhausted, but her eyes were filled with relief. In this apocalyptic world of extreme heat, every adventure was a battle against death, but to protect her family and for that sliver of hope for survival, she was willing to risk everything.
