Chapter 288 Jungle Peril

After dealing with the crisis outside the ancient ruins, Su Yao and her family returned to their temporary base with the alliance. However, everyone knew this was just a small episode in the post-apocalyptic challenge. To better prepare for future crises, the alliance decided to send several teams out to explore for more resources and clues. Su Yao and her family volunteered to lead a team to the mutated jungle south of the city.

Stepping into the jungle is like entering another strange world. Trees tower into the clouds, their trunks covered in sharp thorns, their leaves shimmering with a metallic sheen. Mutant vines weave through the forest like giant pythons, launching sudden attacks at any moment. Strange animal cries echo through the jungle, sending chills down your spine.

Su Yao walked at the front of the group, her psychic abilities fully activated, scanning her surroundings. Suddenly, she sensed a powerful aura rapidly approaching from above. "Watch out, danger above!" she shouted. Before anyone could react, a giant mutated bird swooped down, its claws like sharp scythes, spewing corrosive liquid from its mouth.

Su Yao swiftly used her ice-based abilities, conjuring an ice shield above the team to block the corrosive liquid attack. Her father charged towards the bird, his entire body enveloped in a power shield, leaping into the air and unleashing a powerful punch that collided with the bird's claws with a deafening crash. Her mother immediately began summoning healing plants around them to treat the injured team members and enhance their physical resistance.

After repelling the birds, the team continued deeper into the jungle. They discovered some strange fruits emitting a faint glow, growing among thorns and guarded by many small mutated creatures. Su Yao analyzed these fruits using her system and found that they contained abundant energy that could enhance the physical attributes of those with supernatural abilities.

Thus began a battle to seize the fruit. Su Yao used her mental power to disrupt the guardian creature's movements, while the team members unleashed their supernatural attacks. The father, like a tank, carved a path through the thorns, while the mother used vines to trap any approaching creatures. After a fierce struggle, they successfully obtained the fruit, and after sharing it, the team members felt a significant increase in their strength.

However, deep in the jungle, they encountered an even more powerful enemy. A mutated giant ape, the size of a mountain, appeared, its eyes flashing with furious red light, each slam of its fist causing earthquake-like tremors. The giant ape's fur was as hard as iron; ordinary supernatural attacks were like mere tickles to it.

After calmly considering the situation, Su Yao decided to employ a tactical approach. She had her teammates spread out to draw the giant ape's attention, while she quietly circled around to its rear. Her father faced the giant ape's attacks head-on, struggling to hold on with his power shield, while her mother continuously healed him and applied buffs.

As Su Yao circled behind the giant ape, she concentrated all her power, forming hand seals and unleashing her strongest "Ice and Fire Storm" skill. Simultaneously, she activated her mental power to attack the giant ape's brain. Caught in a pincer attack, the giant ape roared in agony. With everyone's combined assault, the giant ape finally collapsed, and a huge, pure crystal core rolled out of its body.

Just as Su Yao was about to collect the crystal core, the surrounding jungle suddenly began to shake violently, and more mutated creatures surged in from all directions. It turned out that this giant ape was the overlord of this jungle, and its death had triggered the restlessness of the other creatures.

Facing the surging enemy, Su Yao and her family stood back-to-back, preparing for this life-or-death battle. Su Yao's eyes shone with determination and resolve; she knew that only by defeating these enemies could they return to the Alliance with precious resources and intelligence, adding a glimmer of hope to the apocalypse. At this critical moment, Su Yao's system suddenly issued a notification, seemingly having discovered a common weakness among these mutated creatures. However, whether they could successfully exploit this weakness in this desperate situation, or whether they would be overwhelmed by the endless beast tide, remained uncertain.
