Chapter 291 Exploring the Base

Su Yao and the others stood before the gate of the mysterious base. The gate was tightly closed, and the surrounding area exuded an aura of decay and technological sophistication. Su Yao attempted to analyze the gate's structure and opening method using the system. After a moment, she discovered a hidden energy interface next to the gate, which required the injection of specific frequency of supernatural energy to open.

Su Yao concentrated, channeling her inner power, adjusting a wisp of ice-type energy to a suitable frequency, and slowly injected it into the interface. As energy was input, the indicator lights on the door lit up one by one, and accompanied by a muffled mechanical hum, the door slowly opened.

Inside was a long, dimly lit corridor, its walls covered with various wires and unidentified instruments. The group cautiously entered the corridor, Su Yao's psychic abilities keeping her constantly alert to any movement around her.

Suddenly, numerous mechanical arms sprang from the walls on both sides of the passage, their tips crackling with electricity, and rapidly attacked the group. Su Yao reacted swiftly, forming hand seals and summoning a fire barrier in front of the group, deflecting the mechanical arms. Her father charged at the mechanical arms, using his power shield to shatter them one by one.

Continuing along the passage, they arrived at a massive laboratory. Inside, various enormous glass containers were filled with liquids emitting a strange glow. Some creatures submerged in these liquids were twisted and deformed, clearly the products of failed experiments. In the center of the laboratory stood a massive energy reactor, surrounded by complex energy circuits. A huge crystal core floated above the reactor; it was the powerful energy fluctuations emanating from this core that had drawn Su Yao and her companions there.

However, as they approached the crystal core, a group of mutants clad in white protective suits surged out from all sides. These mutants had bloodshot eyes, moved with agility, and emitted low growls. Su Yao realized that these mutants were not to be underestimated; they seemed to have been influenced by the energy of the crystal core, gaining immense strength and speed.

The battle was about to begin. Su Yao unleashed her wind-based power, boosting her teammates' speed to help them nimbly dodge attacks. Her father, like a mobile fortress, charged through the mutated horde, his power shield constantly repelling them. Her mother, meanwhile, healed the wounded teammates from the rear, while using her plant-based powers to disrupt the mutated creatures, ensnaring them in vines.

During the battle, Su Yao realized that the mutants' weakness lay in the energy cores of their protective suits. Destroying these cores would weaken their combat capabilities. Therefore, she directed her teammates to focus their attacks on the core areas of the mutants' protective suits.

After a fierce battle, they finally defeated the mutants. Su Yao walked towards the huge crystal core, preparing to analyze it with the system, when suddenly the alarms in the base intensified, all the lights went out, and the entire base was plunged into darkness.

In the darkness, Su Yao heard heavy footsteps approaching. Her psychic abilities detected a gigantic creature walking towards them. As a faint emergency light illuminated the scene, they saw a mechanical behemoth several meters tall. The behemoth was covered in thick metal armor, its eyes flashing red, and each step it took caused the ground to tremble slightly.

Su Yao knew this would be a tough battle. But to obtain the secrets behind the crystal core, and to save the apocalypse, they had no room to back down. She took a deep breath, mobilized all her supernatural abilities, and prepared to meet the challenge of the mechanical behemoth. Her parents stood firmly by her side, facing the unknown danger with her. Their eyes revealed fearlessness and determination, as if in this dark apocalypse, as long as the family was together, nothing could stop them from moving forward.
