Chapter 36 Zero-Cost Shopping Supplies to Cope with Extreme Cold

After dealing with the ice crystal monster, Su Yao knew that this crisis was just the tip of the iceberg in the extreme cold of the apocalypse. She closed her eyes and called out to the system: "System, we need more resources to cope with the apocalypse. Do you have any suggestions?" The system's electronic voice sounded in her mind: "There is a special house in this space where you can grow vegetables and fruits, and it has a water and electricity supply system, which will be a guarantee for long-term survival. However, in the current extreme cold environment, food and other supplies will become increasingly scarce. You can take advantage of the fact that the situation has not yet deteriorated to the extreme and go to the nearby stores and supermarkets for 'zero-dollar purchases'."

Su Yao opened her eyes and told her parents what the system had said. The family decided to split up; her parents returned to the safe house to store supplies and study how to use the rooms within the space, while Su Yao embarked on her "zero-dollar shopping" journey alone.

Su Yao wrapped her winter coat tighter and headed towards the city's largest supermarket. Along the way, she used her fire-based abilities to melt the snow and ice, clearing a path for herself. The streets were deathly silent; most shops were sealed off by ice and snow, resembling ice sculptures.

When she arrived at the supermarket entrance, she found the doors tightly shut and chained. Su Yao activated her fire-based supernatural ability; the intense heat quickly turned the chains red-hot before they snapped. She forcefully pushed open the supermarket door, and a chill mixed with the stench of rotting food rushed out. Inside, the supermarket was in chaos; shelves were overturned, some perishable foods were frozen solid, and many more durable goods were buried under snow and ice.

Su Yao sprang into action, taking out several large bags from her spatial storage and beginning to collect canned goods, dried goods, bottled water, and other supplies. She left no corner unchecked, clearing the shelves of items. During the collection process, she also discovered some useful tools, such as snow boots, a warm tent, and a small generator, all of which she stored in her spatial storage.

Next, Su Yao arrived at the supermarket's warehouse area. The supplies there were even more abundant, with boxes piled high. She saw large quantities of flour, rice, and cooking oil—essential supplies for survival. Su Yao used her special ability to move the supplies into her spatial storage space. Beads of sweat appeared on her forehead, but she didn't stop.

After leaving the supermarket, Su Yao headed towards a nearby pharmacy. The pharmacy door was frozen shut, so she used her flame to melt the ice and entered. The shelves were filled with a dazzling array of medicines. She collected various medications, including antibiotics, cold medicine, and fever reducers, knowing they could save her life in the apocalypse.

After looting the pharmacy, Su Yao wasn't satisfied. She continued to other shops, collecting daily necessities such as batteries, candles, and toilet paper. In an outdoor gear store, she found high-quality sleeping bags, thermal mats, and a portable stove—equipment that would make their lives more comfortable in the extreme cold.

As time went on, Su Yao collected more and more supplies, but she also felt her strength waning. She decided to return to the safe house to reunite with her family. When she returned, she saw her parents already in the space, preparing the land to plant vegetables and fruits. Looking at today's harvest, the family was filled with hope for the future. Although the cold of the apocalypse remained cruel, they now had more resources to fight it.
