Su Yao only stayed at home for a day before receiving another notification from the system. This time, the target was an old train station in the southern suburbs of the city, where a mysterious gem that could enhance supernatural abilities was said to be hidden in a train carriage. This gem was considered priceless in the post-apocalyptic world.
Su Yao donned her winter cloak and stepped back into the icy wilderness. The howling wind and blizzard made each step incredibly difficult. But for the mysterious gem that could potentially change her destiny, her eyes showed no sign of hesitation.
As she approached the old train station, she found it covered in a thick layer of ice, resembling a giant ice castle. The station building was crumbling, and the surrounding railway tracks were buried under snow and ice, revealing only vague outlines.
Su Yao cautiously entered the train station, which was eerily silent. As soon as she stepped into the hall, she heard a series of cracking sounds, like ice breaking. Suddenly, several enormous ice spikes fell from the ceiling. Su Yao quickly used her special ability to create a fire shield around her body; the ice spikes instantly vaporized upon contact with the flames.
However, the danger was far from over. A swarm of humanoid puppets made of ice and snow surged in from all directions; their bodies were as hard as ice, yet their movements were incredibly agile. Su Yao, wielding a flaming longsword, charged towards the puppet horde. Each swing of her sword severed a puppet's limb, but the puppets would quickly reassemble themselves.
Su Yao realized she couldn't attack blindly like this, so she began to observe the puppets' movements. She discovered that the puppets' core was in their heads, where there was an ice crystal emitting a faint blue light. Su Yao concentrated her power and unleashed a powerful fire blast, attacking the puppet's head. Upon striking the ice crystal, the puppet instantly disintegrated.
After dealing with the horde of puppets, Su Yao continued towards the train carriages. While passing through a passageway, she found it blocked by a massive ice wall. The ice wall emanated a chilling aura, and Su Yao's fire-based abilities had little effect on it.
She searched around the ice wall for a way to break it, and found some ancient symbols in a corner. These symbols seemed to be related to the element of ice. Su Yao recalled the contents of ancient books and tried to use her special ability to trigger these symbols in a specific order. After several attempts, cracks began to appear in the ice wall, and it finally collapsed with a crash.
After passing through the passageway, Su Yao finally arrived at the platform where the train carriages were located. The carriages were covered in thick ice and snow, almost unrecognizable. She searched each carriage one by one, and in the third carriage, she sensed a strong energy fluctuation.
As she entered the carriage, she saw the mysterious gems. The gems were set in an ancient box, radiating a dazzling array of colors. Just as Su Yao was about to collect the gems, the temperature inside the carriage plummeted, as if her blood were about to freeze.
A colossal ice and snow beast appeared at the end of the carriage. Resembling a mammoth, its entire body was covered in hard ice armor, and each tusk was like a giant ice pillar. The beast roared at Su Yao, the sound waves causing the carriage to shake violently.
Su Yao gritted her teeth and first used her freezing ability to try and restrict the giant beast's movements. But the beast easily broke free of the ice and charged at her. Su Yao picked up her flaming longsword and engaged the beast in combat. Her attacks struck the beast's ice armor, leaving only shallow marks.
During the battle, Su Yao noticed that after each attack from the behemoth, the joints of its ice armor would briefly loosen. Seizing this opportunity, she skillfully dodged the behemoth's next attack, then used all her strength to plunge her flaming longsword into the joint of the ice armor. Flames burned along the joint, and the behemoth roared in agony.
Taking advantage of the situation, Su Yao launched a series of attacks, relentlessly targeting the weak points in the giant beast's ice armor. After a fierce battle, the giant beast's ice armor gradually shattered. Su Yao seized the opportunity and thrust her flaming longsword into the giant beast's eye. Severely wounded, the giant beast collapsed with a crash.
Panting, Su Yao walked to the box and took the mysterious gem. At that moment, the train station began to shake violently, seemingly on the verge of collapse. Su Yao quickly left the carriage and ran out of the station.
After leaving the train station, Su Yao encountered a pack of mutated snow wolves. The wolves were incredibly fast runners across the snow, and they surrounded Su Yao. Su Yao remained calm, using the power of her newly acquired mysterious gem to enhance her abilities and easily repel the wolves.
Exhausted and covered in wounds, Su Yao embarked on her journey back to the safe house. She knew that this discovery would bring her and her family more hope for survival in the apocalypse.
