Chapter 91 The Battle for Supplies

Su Yao returned to the safe house, where the warmth gradually restored feeling to her frozen body. Looking at her anxious parents, she felt a pang of guilt, but resolutely said, "Mom and Dad, I need to find more supplies. It's extremely cold now; we won't be able to go out when it gets extremely hot. We must prepare for that time."

Her parents' faces were full of worry, but they also knew their daughter's decision was right. Her father patted Su Yao on the shoulder and said, "Honey, you must be careful. We'll be waiting for you at home." Her mother busied herself preparing some hot food for Su Yao so she could warm herself up before setting off.

After a brief rest, Su Yao stepped out of the safe house again. The outside world was still a frozen wasteland, and the cold wind cut like a knife across her cheeks. Following the system's guidance, she headed towards a new destination, which was said to have once been a large supermarket warehouse.

Along the way, she encountered many vehicles and buildings buried under snow and ice. The once bustling city was now a desolate wasteland, with only her lonely figure leaving a trail of footprints in the snow.

As she walked, Su Yao noticed a group of people gathered around an abandoned truck. She stopped warily and hid behind an icicle to observe. The people were ragged, their eyes filled with despair and madness; they were fighting over the remaining supplies on the truck.

Su Yao didn't want to get involved in the fight, so she planned to go around them. But just then, one of them spotted her. "Look! There's someone over there, maybe she has more supplies!" the person shouted, and the others quickly surrounded Su Yao.

Helpless, Su Yao had no choice but to face them. She shouted, "I don't want to fight you. I'm just passing by, looking for supplies to survive." But these people were blinded by hunger and despair and wouldn't listen to her explanation.

They charged at Su Yao, brandishing their makeshift weapons. Su Yao used her spatial abilities to vanish from her spot and reappear behind them. She used her wind blade abilities to knock the weapons from their hands, but without harming them.

These people were terrified by Su Yao's supernatural abilities, but the lure of supplies made them attack again. Su Yao frowned, and this time she used her fire abilities, creating a wall of fire in front of them. "Don't push me any further, or I won't be polite!" Su Yao warned.

The intense heat of the flames made these people hesitate; they looked at Su Yao with a mixture of fear and resentment in their eyes. Su Yao seized the opportunity to leave and continued towards the supermarket warehouse.

When she arrived at the supermarket warehouse, she found the door locked and surrounded by snow and ice. She used her powers to clear the snow and ice, trying to open the door. But the door was locked from the inside, and Su Yao searched around the warehouse for other entrances.

On one side of the warehouse, she found a ventilation shaft. Su Yao used her spatial abilities to shrink her body and squeeze into the shaft. The shaft was filled with dust and cobwebs, and she carefully crawled forward.

Finally, she entered the warehouse. The warehouse was completely dark, so Su Yao turned on the lighting system. There were more supplies than she had expected, but much of them were covered in ice and snow or damaged.

Su Yao began searching the warehouse for useful supplies. She found some unopened canned goods, warm clothing, and some daily necessities. Just as she was collecting supplies, a strange sound came from deep within the warehouse.

Su Yao stopped what she was doing and walked toward the source of the sound. In a corner of the warehouse, she found several enormous ice rats. These ice rats were the size of oxen, with red eyes that gleamed, and they were gnawing on some supplies.

The ice rats spotted Su Yao, letting out sharp cries as they charged at her. Su Yao used her spatial abilities to dodge their attacks while simultaneously unleashing her fire abilities. However, the ice rats' fur was thick, and the flames only left some scorched marks on their bodies.

Su Yao retrieved some metal netting from her spatial storage and used her spatial abilities to place it along the ice rats' inevitable path. When the ice rats charged, they were trapped by the netting. Su Yao seized the opportunity to unleash her strongest ability attack, eliminating several ice rats.

Having eliminated the threat of the ice rats, Su Yao continued collecting supplies. She stored all the supplies she found into her spatial storage and prepared to leave the warehouse. However, when she returned to the ventilation shaft, she found it blocked by ice and snow.

Su Yao had no choice but to look for another exit. On the other side of the warehouse, she found a staircase leading to the basement. She went down the stairs, hoping to find a way out. The basement was filled with a pungent smell, and Su Yao covered her mouth and nose, proceeding cautiously.

At the far end of the basement, she found a door, behind which came the sound of flowing water. Su Yao opened the door and discovered an underground river. The water wasn't frozen, and she guessed that this underground river might lead to the outside.

Su Yao used her spatial abilities to walk on the river, moving with the current. After an unknown amount of time, she finally saw a glimmer of light—the direction of the exit. Su Yao ran towards the light, leaving the supermarket warehouse and continuing her arduous journey to find supplies.
